Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

That's really disappointing Steve, sorry for you mate :( That's VERY unusual, like crazily unusual! It looks like a knife which has been barely used, so the spring/tang shouldn't be worn. Have you thought about making the seller an offer, and having a new spring fitted?

No, I didn't think it was worth the trouble.

Great pic Steve, you've really caught the Ironwood

Thanks Buddy !

You've captured that vintage bone beautifully my friend :) Stunning pic
Many thanks Jack.
I've been cleaning and oiling a pile of knives that were sitting around on my kitchen table, which included a double brace of Lambs

Someone really loved this Rodgers, the edge is like a razor, and the they've made some effort with the repair.

Like the Herbert Robinson, this anonymous Lamb was a kind gift from @Fixall :)

I'm not sure why this Milner was out on the table, but things like that happen a lot at Grumble Towers ;) It's never going to make a nice example of the pattern, but I might leave it out, and take a file to the blade, to re-Lamb it

This post is a treat, Jack.
Good morning everyone. It is beautiful out today. A welcome break from the frigid temps of late. Church was good and had a great lunch with the family. I think Im off to the range to shoot the python. A quick hop out the truck shoot 20 rounds and hop back in the truck to walmart. Promised my wife I would make her some carne asada tacos today. Nedd some groceries. Got the stag lamb today. This is my favorite knife that I own and it really isn't close. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Glad I asked you to show and tell, Paul. A beautiful classic.

It's the same seller that I got the TEW and Rodgers from. I think he's a stand up guy, not sure how he missed it but I'm glad he caught it.
There will be others and the hunt continues ! ;)
Good to hear that buddy 👍

That is interesting Ed  I've seen one or two like that myself, and worse. The blades are stamped in a press, before they're ground, but Wright's have a long-standing problem with blades coming back from HT slightly bent, and I think those marks are from them being straightened. Sometimes they have to be re-ground after too, sometimes they don't bother. Marks probably show more with the blade being unpolished

That sounds like a reasonable explanation Jack. I can see where the HT could effect a blade like that. Those marks are bright and do show up prominently on the unpolished blade.

Gorgeous pair there Paul.

Here's the press they use to stamp the blades Ed, it's older than the two of us combined, but a pretty stable platform

Just curious for no particular reason Jack Black Jack Black . The cast iron(?) press says W. Forrest & Co - Sheffield. Was the press also made in Sheffield?
It is hard to fathom how immensely big some industries - in this case, that of iron and steel works obliviously - got in some rather small and very local areas back then.

I know we have several sauce aficionados here at the Guardians and i am always on the lookout for a new condiment for the larder. Especially since i cannot afford " Henderson's ", the holy grail according to some good judges. But i did spy this out of the corner of my eye hidden in a corner nearly out of sight. And it is good, hot, but not blow your head off hot. This has been added to my new go to Hot Sauce favourite, " Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wings Sauce ". 👌 .

I’ve heard and seen scratch&sniff before, but this takes the cake, I mean bacon.😂 Good one, John.
Harvey, I just want to know if they are edible. 😆
Of course it reminds me of the joke, How do you kill a dumb blond? Put a scratch and sniff at the bottom of the deep end of a swimming pool. 😉
