No doubt true Dylan and that one has exceptional character.
@Pàdruig.I have a couple Petersons I particularly like the Sherlock Holmes pipes. I am predominantly a meerschaum guy these days. Great picture by the way. All this pipe talk has me locked and loaded. I think I will enjoy this in about 5 minutes![]()

I was thinking the grumpy old man couldn't be you, if you left your ectoplasm there way back in 1981.That's what I thought Jer, the place is tiny! There's one very pokey staircase, and very little corridor from what I remember!Of course there's a grumpy old man in the bar, it's Yorkshire!

Thank you Dwight...your photo does great justice to the ebony.Beautiful horn Bob. I don't like shiny either.
Fantastic BLUE!
Magnificent edifice Jack. Thank you for the tour!
I am always blown away by these.

Sorry the festival was as good as years past... But that Yorkshire sure is a super cool city.
Breakfast of champions.
Looking very Regal.
Tool Man, Teds and Viking sounds like a recipe for....................a great good time! Thanks David, for all I know, it'll be completely different tomorrowMaybe I can persuade Tool Man and the Teds to attend!

I'm sure Captain has had plenty of sea adventures to mull over while he's land-locked my friend

Wow Todd, very generous of you. Congrats on that beauty John. Kudos toHave to head out early for a cornhole tournament, but wanted to get this posted.
It was a special delivery package from my buddy, Todd... He's so generous. I love the polished stag handles (his work), it has an old world charm to it. This may be my new favorite carry for a while, it has a nice 'heft' to it and and I love the way it looks. Thank, Todd.

Ask yourself: "Would Tool Man eat it?"The coffee came quickly, but the food took a good while, despite the fact there were only 2 other diners. Hungry as I was, I got a considerable shock when it arrived!

I think I missed the word 'Organic'!The sausages were OK, and the mushroom, but the rest of it was awful!
The tomato wasn't warm, let alone cooked, and why is there green stuff on a plate at that time in the day?! Who on earth wants to eat a dozen cress stalks, and the other green stuff tasted disgusting!
The onions were supposed to be caramelised onions, but they were just tasteless red onions, and the 'toast' wasn't toasted! And it was expensive!

Many thanks, Pete.Wow Harvey! Very cool.
Thank you kindly, Todd.Really enjoy your photos Harvey.![]()
https://www.culvers.com/After consuming the large doughnut with considerable relish, I headed off to find some Vikings, some Viking festival this was turning out to be!I headed towards the market place, pausing to check if the Vikings were ensconced in Valhalla, but there was no sign of them
![]()
The market is now being billed as 'Europe's Most Interesting Market'! I hope that isn't the case because half the stalls were empty, and there was precious little of interest among the others, It was even more uninteresting than the last time I passed through it!
The Vikings were supposed to have an encampment nearby, so that is where I headed. I looked in both directions, but there was not a Viking to be seen. I could see something at the top of the street, but...

It seemed the Vikings - "Vikings"! - had been routed by a bit of wind!It wasn't even windy now, it was a bright, sunny day!
I decided to head to the Merchant Adventurers Hall, where the Viking traders stalls would hopefully be found. They were, and it was nice to speak to Jacek Robotka, who has made a couple of knives for me. I had a look round the other stalls, and spoke to a few people, but the only other item I purchased was a very attractive pocket whetsone, made from jasper. I'll try to get a photo tomorrow.

After leaving the hall, I walked up another historic street, passing one of my favourite York pubs, and went into Barnitt's hardware store.
![]()
As previously related, I was unable to find what I wanted in Barnitt's, so I headed to an antiques centre.
![]()
![]()
It's located on one of York's oldest streets, and I had a good look round, but there were only a few knives, and they were ridiculously overpriced
I turned left down Stonegate, making way for a young couple to pass me by
![]()
![]()
I had a look round a second antique shop, but saw nothing of interest sadly
![]()
With York Minster behind me...
![]()
I retraced my steps, spotting a rare pair of "Vikings" coming out of Macky D's!
![]()
Heading back to the bus-stop, I passed a pub I once stayed at in 1981...
![]()
I don't remember any mention of ghosts when I stayed at the rather pokey little place
![]()
Sadly that was York Viking Festival for another year, and I can only hope that next year's is better! If the BF search function resurfaces, you'll be able to find photos from previous festivals by searching within the thread![]()
I’d fit right in.Of course there's a grumpy old man in the bar, it's Yorkshire!![]()
Lamb buddy!

Handsome shadow Lambfoot, David.Afternoon Guardians! Sure enjoyed your pics Jack. Sorry the festival didn't turn out as well as it should have. Captain is longing for the open sea. But alas he's landlocked in a sea of grass on the Kansas prairie. He takes it in stride and is a good companion today.

Couldn’t agree more, Paul. That’s a right nice Lambfoot, too.Late start today. Day off so slept in a little. Woke up and went truck shopping. Dang it got expensive since the last time I bought one (2009). I have narrowed it down to two so I will take the weekend to decide. Treated myself to Culver's after. One of the best fast food joints in the country if you ask me. Whataburger vs Culvers would be tough to choose from. Got the new rosewood lamb on its maiden voyage today. Love the character of the wood on this one.

I've not heard anyone mention Culver's before Paul, are they a national chain, or just a regional one?
Thank you John.Gorgeous photo, Harvey.![]()
I remember this Lamb. What a great enhancement. Good on both You and Todd.Have to head out early for a cornhole tournament, but wanted to get this posted.

Super nice perspective, Dwight.Amen
i e felt like that a few times Paul.An awesome gesture. I bet you have many rewarding moments like that. Takes a special person to teach kids. I would be fired before my first day was out. Very cool Todd
So glad you like it John. Good luck tomorrow buddy!Have to head out early for a cornhole tournament, but wanted to get this posted.

Sweet photo of that stellar lamb Jon.
Thanks for the info PaulI am a little new to the region but I believe Culvers is like a tristate located fast food joint. Whataburger is definitely a Texas thing but have seen one or two in other states.
Another vote for Culvers! You can put me squarely in the Culvers corner.
Thanks Paul, it was a good day, but a tiring one, two lengthy journeys, a lot of walking about, and then a couple of hours editing my picsThanks for taking us through your day Jack. Looks like you had a good one. That drink looks like it ended your day in perfect style. Great lamb as usual.
Incredible fortitude Dylan, that makes it all the more specialThank you, Jack. It was made by a rather talented fellow in Ukraine. Sadly, he had to close his shop due to obvious events but I was gladdened to see he had opened back up recently.
Nice John...there is a very clean look to that lamb.Have to head out early for a cornhole tournament, but wanted to get this posted.

Mr.Albers went all out with that lamb. Very nice.
The Big Kahuna Burger was very bad for your health. Thanks for the info PaulI guess there must be scores of US burger chains, which we never get to hear about over here
Another vote for Culvers!![]()

I have been having some problems multi-quoting over the past 24 hours, text disappearing, text boxes appearing, a general PITA. And those stupid emojis are still hereI'm afraid I've run out of time for now Guardians, but will try to finish my post before I go out. If not, have a great day Guardians
