This thread is cracking along almost as fast as the daily trad' carry thread

...
Large rosewood today for some work in my mum's garden.
Oh P.S. That's not my mum's garden

...
I agree, David; the pace of this thread has certainly moved well beyond "leisurely"!

Great photo, but I certainly needed your P.S.!
...Thank you for all the kind compliments, GT.
...But just like with every art, an artist has his/her own tastes ...
The last pic I posted is of the very first Ebony Lambsfoot knife I acquired.
...
Thanks for more photography comments, Dylan. I fear the "taste" or style question is my biggest challenge. The artistry isn't even a consideration for me yet; I'm still striving for consistent clarity and focus.

Thanks also for the comments on your evolving attitudes regarding your ebony knife.

Great shot of your stag lambsfoot; its buttery color is unforgettable!

... So far only external rashes and itchy areas! Heaven forbid getting this stuff in my lungs!

...
Are you back to smooth-as-a-baby skin now, Ron, or still fighting the itches?
...
Thanks GT, your Man Jack is still swell
...
Thanks for the Wright stag "senator" info, Jack!

...
I think that's true of a lot of things to do with our knives GT!
when I lived in France, I was a fan of
saucisson d' Arles, which is horse, pork, and donkey!
...If you've drunk English ale in a pub, bitter is almost certainly what you have drunk

...
There was some discussion, led by
@r8shell I think, in the Technical forum. I sure hope that doesn't happen!
Thanks GT, it actually has a slight flaw that one, the tip of the blade just pokes out of the frame. I can get that fixed at the factory, but I didn't want to mail it out to anyone else like that. I am very pleased with the stag though, and think every single knife is stellar, there isn't a single one I wouldn't be proud to carry

There was another knife with a slightly off-centre blade, but I ordered extra to cover any flawed knives, and they have certainly exceeded my expectations

Ashley done well

...
There was a lot of discussion about that much earlier in this thread!

...
Thanks for your kind replies to all my random ramblings, Jack; you're a very gracious host of this thread!

There's a dish that combines horse, pork, and donkey (and you're a fan)??

I thought turducken was a bad concept!

I guess I'll find some English ale and see what bitter is like.

Thanks for the pointer to the photo storage discussion in the Tech Forum.

I hope/expect the "slight flaw" in your glamorous ACL can be remedied quite easily, Jack!

Discussions that occurred "much earlier" in the thread are lost on me nowadays.

I just finished a 600-page novel (large print edition added to the page count) that I'm sure I had read a few years ago, but it was still an enjoyable read! I had no idea what was going to happen in the thrilling plot, although after each plot development, I'd say, "Oh, now I remember that part."
Unfortunately, GT, I don’t know anything about public transit in the area, ... That is, as long as she doesn’t mind waiting for a bus in sub-zero temps on a regular basis.

...
Thanks, anyway, Barrett.

She was wandering around the university last week, and sent me a photo of a bus (or light rail) shelter with the usual 3-sided kiosk, but on the side was a large panel labelled "PUSH for Heat", so maybe the cold isn't as big an issue as we think!

I'm 57 and have never experienced "sub-zero temps." Am I missing out?
I'm always told that the cold builds character, so I imagine you're not as fully developed a human as you could be
Prester John
!

REALLY appreciate that comparison shot, Rachel!

I hope you're getting some relief from the back pain, and that it doesn't cramp your style during Labor Day festivities!
When I grow up, I want a sambar lambsfoot just like yours, Ron!!

ha ha as they say,
" it will buff right out"
My first trip in an ambulance

Probably not a laughing matter at the time, though! When I was a kid, my dairy farmer Dad bounced a running cain saw off his shin one winter, but it wasn't deep. My recollection is his shins had perpetual scabs, knees to ankles, from various blows that farm life dealt.

Can't wait to see these in everyone's hands
There's a lot of that going around, Jack!

What's the background in this pic of your new stag lambsfoot?
Every year, less and less of my students have seen Monty Python's Holy Grail. It's a sad reflection on today's youth.

When I teach an intro stats class, we learn a dozen different inferential techniques, and I warn the students that the real challenge on the test (and in real life) is deciding which method to use for a given situation. I then say they must answer 3 questions each time: What... is your name? What... is your quest? ... And I still have a critical mass of students who "get it"!

(Of course, the "real" 3 questions are: Confidence interval or hypothesis test? Mean or Proportion? 1 sample or 2?)
Me too John, it's a long time since I saw the Road movies, but I really do think the Three Stooges and Marx Brothers are genuinely timeless classic humour

They were ancient when I first saw them, and they were as funny as it gets

I'd say the same about Laurel & Hardy, Langdon, Keaton, Chaplin, etc

I used to watch
I Love Lucy and
Dick Van Dyke Show reruns as a kid. I also watched lots of TV comedy shows in my teens, 20s, and 30s, and those later shows had very few ideas or gags I hadn't seen earlier on those 2 classic TV comedies.
It's been a LONG week, and I know next week will be too, so I'm taking tomorrow off, ...
I know the back problem is a factor, and you mentioned last weekend that you'd be busy this week, but I still thought the "LONG week" comment was amusing given your posts about the bank holiday leading to a short week.

(Despite all the sub-zero temps I've experienced, I'm still lacking in empathy.

)
I didn't expect to have time to post this morning, but
insomnia paid me a dividend!

Enjoy your Saturday Guardians

Hey, I've been waking during the night recently; maybe I should start using that time to catch up with the Guardians thread and others with high traffic volume!

That's a pair to be proud of, Joshua; congrats on doubling down on navy lambsfoots!

Always great to see The Eye, David, and I admire that mug, given that I used to always tell my daughter that my motto is, "Shut up and play the cards you're dealt."

I came across this picture of my first uke. ...
So you've played almost your whole life? You must be good!

Is the book in the photo something like
The Golden Book of Uke Tunes?

... Wright's do a Bexoid Lambsfoot, but it's only slightly cheaper than the Rosewood model.
What do you think of their jigged bone lambsfoot models?
My wife could absolutely make that mug. What a clever idea!
Sign me up for one, Shawn!

What would you estimate the price, including S&H, would be for an early adopter?
Thanks, GT. The "hot spot" was most likely caused by a glop of apple juice/pulp that wasn't wiped off right away. They say "A apple a day will keep the doctor away. " So I eat two.

The Man Jack is sporting some mighty fancy file work!

Is that one a new addition to the collection?
Thanks for the patina info.

Great photo (and great concept for a horror movie

)!

I won my Man Jack in a GAW about 3 years ago sponsored by
@R.c.s from Manchester, England (hence the Man Jack name). So it was actually my FIRST lambsfoot!
Last day to carry the Man Jack for a while:
