Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

My parents paid £500 for their 2 up, 2 down, terraced house.
My Dad paid 500 quid for our first house in 1941 before he went and fought in New Guinea and was away for 4 years. But % wise the days of big year on year growth are over. The money is a lot bigger, but not the % growth. I will give you a very classic but simple example. When Dad bought our house for 500 quid, that converts to $1,000 decimal currency. We sold the family home in 1984 for $84,000, so that is 8,400 % growth. That means a Million Dollar house in 2023 will be worth $84, 000, 000 in 2063. That ain't going to happen, everyone would be living on the streets, you could not even afford the rates.

LOL! 🤣 🤣🤣 Brilliant Dwight!
Thanks pal.
Nicely Done! Love it!
Thank you J.D,
Ok ...I'm being lazy 🤫...taking pictures of knives for insurance backup. So, today's carry will be one of these.View attachment 2116209

Late edit: two departed as gifts.
Wowzza Bob! What a glorious fleece wheel! :D

Beautiful image Steve.
When you're a math teacher, Pi Day is a big deal.
I wonder how ole GT celebrated today? :)
Oh... and about that Gladiator... I would bet an F350 King Ranch would be very very close if not $100,000.

Carry on gents (and Rachel) :)

Thank you Dwight. Your lamb is dashingly handsome, casually leaning against the stone.👍

That’s an extreme taper, but at least the spine and edge aren’t parallel. 😉

Simple day ahead of me I thought. Went to start my truck this morning and nothing. Jumped it and drove to work. Walk to my truck to grab lunch and noticed a flat 😆 🤣 😂. I could only laugh at this point. One of those days. Took the rest of the afternoon off to tend to the truck. Had to replace the alternator and patch the tire. I just need ole bessy to hang on for a couple more months.

When I was in the service I never took stock or cared too much about earning coins and all the neat little trinkets one would earn while serving. I would just ship them to my younger brother as he thought they were cool. He gave them back to me last night and it was fun to reminisce of times past. Got two included in the pic with the Charlie lamb that I'm carrying today. Hope everyone is having a great day. Time to grab a beer lol.

Sorry to hear about your truck problems, Paul. Glad they weren’t too bad, and were easily remedied.

A few weeks ago Dawn bought a Yorkshire pudding tin. So this Sunday past she made a roast, then used the drippings to attempt her first Yorkshire pudding. It was delicious, but she was not happy about how it rose (or didn't) and asked me not to post a picture until she manages one that turns out to her satisfaction. The good news is that I will get to eat a bunch more of these as she debugs her process.

I’m sure she’ll get the hang of it, Tyson. I wish I remembered which recipe/instructions I used when I made mine for Yorkshire Day a couple years ago. I thought they turned out surprisingly good for a first attempt.

Happy Pi Day...
Did you know that Einstein was born on Pi Day, and Stephen Hawking died on Pi Day... Crazy right?
View attachment 2116172

Not as exciting as Einstein or Hawking, but my wife and I got married on Pi Day 15 years ago. We went out for pizza to celebrate.

Nothing on the kids menu sounded good to Scout, so she got a soft pretzel that turned out to be about twice the size of her head.

Get anyone under 60 to change a tyre. They have NO idea, and that applies to bicycles as well. NO IDEA.

Hey now, I'm under 60 and I've changed tires plenty of times. (Too many times, since when I was younger I tended to have older and more beat-up cars, so the gamut of roadside repairs definitely included some flats that I needed to deal with.)

Same here, Tyson. I’m well under 60, and I’ve changed more than my share of tires. (It helps that my first job was in my uncle’s tire shop, but still.) Leon, I promise we’re not all completely useless. 😉

In all fairness, I've only done this in the US, so it was always tires. I haven't ever changed tyres, and I'm not sure if I ever will.

🤣🤣🤣

I’ve never changed one anywhere they call it a tyre either, but I have had to jump a car in England, where I believe they call jumper cables “jump leads.”

Speaking of pies, pi, and deserts. I have been bombarded by girls scouts this last week. I think I have purchased 10 boxes because its hard to say no!!!!!!

Those are the best ones, too! That and the Thin Mints (kept in the freezer).

Beautiful Lamb, Dwight! I love the green in those covers.

I should have made my intent clearer. Nearly everyone here has used knives, and tools all their lives and has hands on experience with doing things. The average Joe walking the street has never had these life skills taught to them, or as a friend of mine says, never had a grain of dirt under their fingernails. But i will stand by my original statement regarding bicycles, i don't know one kid who can change a bike tyre little lone fix a puncture. They get Mum to drive them to the bike shop to get the man there to do it. I was in a bike shop years ago when i kid wheeled his bike in with his mum, it had a flat tyre. The bloke quoted $20 to replace the tube and Mum did not flinch, just handed over the money. And very few people have ever worked in any work place that remotely revolves around fixing things, eg. an uncles tire shop. 🤣

Last year i posted about the difference in Chinese food served at Western restaurants compared to what they eat at home. Cannot do links but have a look at- Asian Woman Speaks On Why They Don't Eat From Chinese Restaurants.

To summarize: since I own pocketknives, I can be an honorary Grumpy Old Man, even though I'm only in my 50s. I think this is great! Thank you.

I was wondering the same :D
Striking photo of your lovely Lamb buddy :)

Yes, and you need to open the bonnet, or very occasionally, the boot! :D

Over 60's! :D ;)

Up at the top of the browser window, you should be able to see the address of the page you're viewing Leon. If you right click on it, and 'copy', you can just paste in the link mate :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everybody's doing well, and settling into the week. I woke up to a heavy frost this morning, but it looks like it will be a nice day. I don't mind the cold, so long as it's not raining all day. Despite the recent snow, and a couple of very cold spells, we had a pretty mild winter here, and are starting to see signs of spring. I'm off to the barber's shortly, and then meeting my mate Wolfie for a coffee, all being well. Then I have a few more things to do in town. Have a good day Guardians, and enjoy carrying your Lambsfoot knives :)

Interesting how these weeks tend to fly by. As a child time never went fast enough, now I search for the pause button.
Glad the weather has cooperated with you Jack. We have had similar weather here on the New Jersey shore. No snow, just cold winds.
Enjoy your day...I will search for a good brunch after a trip to my favorite market. If you can name a fruit, vegetable, meat or pastry, it has one available. 20230314_144312.jpg

I often think the same Bob. It sounds like you're going to have a good day, hope so my friend 🙂 That's a cool pic 😎 I'm just have a pre-haircut coffee in town, not a patch on Charlie's though 👍
