Love to see our parents reactions to prices, health care, etc today.Hard to believe a gold bar was worth only £5,000 in the early 60's!![]()

My father told me that his dad would harangue him and his brother, and his friends, for spending a few pennies on a pint of beer, when it had previously been a penny. By the time I started drinking in pubs, the price of beer had risen to 3 SHILLINGS a pint, and my dad would tell me that me and my friends were crazy to be paying that! The average price for a pint is probably more than 5 POUNDS a pint here now, thousands of percent more than my grandfather paid, when there were 240 pennies to the PoundLove to see our parents reactions to prices, health care, etc today.![]()

Congratulations Paul and good on you, Jack. Very thoughtful.Special thank you toJack Black Came home today to a package from Jack. Inside was a little tin with a beautiful '19 lambsfoot and an awesome pin. Also included was a wonderful Yorkshire keychain and a Richards pipe tool. What a thoughtful and generous gift my friend. I don't really know what I did to deserve such an amazing gift but promise you that I will cherish this for years and years and years. Thank you, Jack. The knife is great but the friendship is what truly matters.
The people in this thread are amazing. I have had a string of wonderful things happen to me lately. I promise to pay it forward.
