Thanks kindly Steve.
You have a good one with that lamb.
I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with you posting it here Bob, and it's interesting to see what has become of the older LambsI think I will keep mine for the traditional forum in the future.
Probably all in the interests of making money!Oh that's too bad then! All in the name of progress, I'm sure.![]()
Yes, it was about 8.00pm on a summer's evening, in 1991, and I had been looking for my knife all day. I had been cooking corn fritters and jambalaya in the kitchen, using recipes from a Louisiana cook book, and glancing out of the kitchen window, I saw the cat, acting strangely, on the small patch of lawn outside the window. It was actually trying to get something off its collar, and when I saw it, even though I wasn't aware of the magnet, or the cat-flap, I immediately realised what had happened. It's strange that while I can remember all the other details quite clearly, I'm struggling to recall precisely which pocket knife it was, though I didn't have many back then!Wow that's crazy! Was the knife still attached to the collar when you found it? Imagine all of the things that could get carried off!
Great shot of your '19 SteveGood morning Guardians !
Suns out and the snow from yesterday is melting, still cold but not too bad

Congratulations David, I hope you can get it straightened outAfternoon Guardians! Got a new IXL Lamb today. Wood covers, flush joint. Unfortunately someone took a grinder to the edge and it'll take a little work to smooth out the edge again. Happy trails!

You make interesting points to ponder.....but....I will agree Jack, once a lamb, always a lamb; unless it has intentionally been altered.( why would a person ever do that?!I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with you posting it here Bob, and it's interesting to see what has become of the older LambsI have had them where the blades were more like a punch than a blade, but I still bought them anyway. It's an interesting philosophical discussion though I think, when does a Lambsfoot cease to be a Lambsfoot, if ever? If someone buys a Lambsfoot, and mods it into something else, by design, perhaps it ceases to be a Lambsfoot, perhaps, but what if it is transformed through honest wear, or even accident or abuse? It has been argued that every Sheepsfoot will one day, through sharpening, become a Lambsfoot, but to my mind, it will always be a Sheepsfoot, even if it is a heavily-worn Sheepsfoot. The other question is perhaps harder to answer

Great shot of your '19 SteveHope you get better weather from here on in

Congratulations David, I hope you can get it straightened outThose knives were produced at a time when ordinary folks carried knives, and I only a few had access to decent sharpening equipment. Here, there were Italian knife sharpeners, who travelled around on bicycles, which powered their small grindstones, but many folks sharpened their knives on front steps, or on coarse carborundum, or gave them to dad to take into the factory, where there might be a small chisel-pitted grindstone. Often, I find though that the worst damage to a blade has been done by the last brief owner, trying to tidy it up for their market stall with a Dremel
Look forward to seeing more of that one David

I'm with you entirely BobYou make interesting points to ponder.....but....I will agree Jack, once a lamb, always a lamb; unless it has intentionally been altered.( why would a person ever do that?!
I do enjoy the old knives for their unwritten personal history, so never mind worn blades.
Now, a sheepfoot will never be a lambsfoot in my mind, through use or altering.

Thanks Paul, I've just been watching a couple of movies, but then my door-bell went. Since it was after 9pm, and I wasn't expecting anyone, I wondered who it was. I have a posh old couple, John and Bridget, live a few doors up from me, and it turned out it was Bridget, who is well into her 70's. She had her lap-top with her, and was wanting me to send an email for her. I've never even seen her take a drink before, including at her Golden wedding anniversary party, but had clearly had a few glasses of wine after dinner, as she was staggering a bit, with flushed cheeks, and slurred speech. It seemed an odd time to come round, when her son and his family, including her adult grandkids, who are better equipped to show her how to use her laptop than I am, live just at the bottom of the streetSounds like a busy day my friend. Hope everything goes great. That is an awesome lamb for the day, Jack.
I bought some asparagus today, but I think it was probably Spanish, and it'll be a couple of months until the English crop is out I reckonIt's getting to be that time!

That's a beauty....hope your blood pressure subsides.Alright, here is a rant for the day, good and bad. Just got home from the gym and catching up on the Guardians and other threads while i'm having a coffee. And here is the really good, the " Guardians of the Lambsfoot " is a civil and great place to connect with like minded knife collectors and users. And here is the bad, went to the 2023 Oregon Knife show thread to see any photos that may have been posted. Has it turned into a bunfight, the amount of sniping going on, how you can turn a thread about attending and posting photos of a knife show into what could be deemed unpleasant at best is beyond me. End of rant.![]()

Thought i had better post a photo of a piece of cutlery to at least look like i'm trying to stay on track.
. Have a good evening everyone, allowing for the time difference.
