I relish your reports of Market day, Jack!! You have the outlines to publish a book!!
No lack of colorful characters!!!

Looks like a blast!
There's rarely a dull moment down there Pete! :D
I hope no fisticuffs today, Jack!! You are getting a little too "Mature" for that, no??
I'm sure you can set him right more "subtly"!!
I don't know about "mature" Charlie, but I am certainly getting too old! :D I have a soft lead sap I consider subtle! 🤣 ;)

Thanks pal :D  There are certainly more colourful characters now, than there will be when the Powers That Be get their way! :(

I was thinking of you today Charlie, in relation to an old movie poster Golden Gordon had on his stall, which reminded me of our two Lambsfoot knives :D

Gordon said he had had the poster on his wall at one time, and I said that I thought the artist was pretty lazy, since both Jane and Marilyn are drawn identically from the neck down! :D Gordon, who is probably the best educated of the Leeds market stall holders, said that he thought it was strange that Spanish men appeared to favour redheads, rather than blondes. When I asked what he meant, he had confused 'rubia' with 'ruby'! :D

A pleasant morning sitting on the patio watching the bats fly around earlier.
I hope all have a good day.
Kudu bone.
I've been planning on building a bat house of late. That Kudu bone Willem is spectacular Bob.

Thanks kindly Dwight.🫡
They are interesting animals that earn their keep. Amazing acrobats flying around catching insects.

Another great capture of your lamb with some nectar of the gods.

Afternoon Guardians! Jack enjoyed the market report and pics. JR Lamb helping out on this rainy day.

Thanks David, great to see that lovely Rodgers

Thank you Dwight, when I was doing my SFOs, and commissioning a follow-up to the 2017 Guardians knives, I wanted, what I called a 'Peaches & Cream' horn, like this:

Wright's said they had that horn, so I put the word out. However, when I visited the factory, to see how they were getting on, which it was always necessary to do several times, the horn they had started to use was nothing like what I had been promised. I asked them to stop production, and was told that they would get it right. Numerous phone calls were exchanged, and I was eventually told they had sourced some more horn. The clock was ticking, but I asked to see some samples, which I didn't receive until much later, because the two knives had simply been put in a paper envelope, and dropped in a post box, without any stamps! When they hadn't arrived after a few days, I asked for two more to be sent, and eventually received these two:

Nice horn, but not quite what I had been promised. I was assured that they had some horn, which was more like what I wanted, but I decided to go over, and have a look myself. In fact the two samples were not representative at all, and the rest of the horn was very much like we had had for the 2018 Guardians run. That year, I had split the run between ebony and horn, and the problems getting the right ebony, were even greater than getting the right horn. I was inclined to cancel the horn altogether, but asked for opinions on the email list, and a number of folks still wanted horn, so horn they got:

The samples I had been sent were completely different, so knowing Charlie's predilection for redheads (or at least ONE redhead), I sent him the red knife, and kept Marilyn. Unfortunately, I neglected to take a pic of them together :(

A fine photo my friend :)

Apparently he had it on his wall for some years! :D Gordon might be the brightest of the Leeds market traders, but he doesn't have much competition! 🤣
You came up with some great Reddish and Blondish Horn, Jack!!
Thanks Charlie, it's a shame I couldn't get hold of more of it

For the first few years I lived in Leeds, I used to have bats flying round, right outside my windows at night, but I haven't seen them for many years now, I'm not sure what happened :(

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone's week hasn't been too punishing, but I dare say most folks will be ready for the weekend, and hope you all have a good one. And a good Friday of course! :D The weather forecast is a little better here today, with some sunshine, and temperatures in the mid 60's. I offered to buy my mate Wolfie (Boxer Wolfie, not Werewolf Wolfie!) breakfast, but he is taking his kids to see their grandmother, so I might have a walk down to Charlie's, and grab a coffee, before going to take care of some business in town. Got my trusty Barlow with me :) Have a great day Guardians

Grand dame of lambs Jack.👍🏻
This is the first year of their return after a long absence. Perhaps all the wildfires are pushing them closer to the residential areas.

Thanks Bob, I'm glad you have the bats back, though that's not the best cause :( We have had a couple of large moorland fires close to where I live, already this year. They cause terrible damage to wildlife and the environment, but are not on the scale of the devastating wildfires in the US and Australia, and they tend to be started by people carelessly lighting barbecue grills, or dropping cigarettes :( I hope I get my bats back one day too my friend :)

If you're talking about flittermice, you're welcome to all you can catch of mine.
Mine seem to be out of the house at last, though.
I still hate them.
