Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

YORKSHIRE DAY GIVEAWAY

The smell of whippets is on the wind again my friends! Yorkshire Day approaches! It's time to dust off your clogs, flatten out your flat-cap, and unleash your inner ferret! Gather ye spuds, for, once again, for more years than anyone, (certainly me), can remember, the gauntlet is being thrown down for The Annual Chip Butty Challenge! 🎉
Please join me on August 1st to celebrate Yorkshire Day, by putting together one of Northern England's finest dishes, the legendary chip butty! 😋

As if that feast isn't enough, there's the bonus of a giveaway. Make your chip butty, and post a pic here, with your Lambsfoot, from 12.01am to 11.59pm on August 1st, for a chance to win. Show some extra Yorkshireness, and your name may go in the cap twice! ;) The giveaway is open to anyone who has ever posted in this thread prior to this one. If you're not a regular poster, please provide a link to your last post (you can find your posts by using the search function)

The prize this year is a knife from my collection, which I acquired from John Maleham, former owner of A. Wright & Son, in 2017. John had managed to get hold of a few pieces of decent vintage Sambar stag, and had made up a couple of Lambsfoot knives that I bought off him. I asked John to let me know if he managed to obtain anymore stag, which eventually led to the Ashley's Choice and Hartshead Barlow knives. This knife is the best of the two knives that I bought from John, and was made by Wright's best cutler. It is on the same (small) frame as the AC. I've only carried it a few times, and it's as new

I hope you'll help me celebrate Yorkshire Day :) Good luck Guardians

Looking forward to it, Jack! Thanks for the heads up, I needed a new bottle of Henderson’s, and now I’ve got one on its way that’ll be here before Yorkshire Day. 🙂

The early bird catches the croissant fresh out of the oven 😉😋👍

Great pic, Jack. You’re lucky to have a place within walking distance where you can get a good cup of coffee and a bite to eat.

Unfortunately, you will come across a lot of rubbish about chip butties on the internet. In my opinion, the best way to have them is to keep them simple - buttered white bread, or what we call a breadcake in Yorkshire, you can even use margarine rather than butter. Plenty of good, thick-cut chips, and perhaps a little salt. Some add malt vinegar, or Henderson's Relish in Sheffield, a few add ketchup. Brown sauce is pretty rare in my experience, I've never even seen anyone add brown sauce to a chip butty, though I'm sure some do  Strong 'Builders Tea' or beer make good accompaniments, or some Dandelion & Burdock ;)

I’m still bummed I can’t find Dandelion & Burdock around here anymore. 🙁

🤤🤤🤤

Now I’m starving! 😁

Hey, if I can’t find any D&B to go with my Yorkshire Day chip butty, at least I know I can get my hands on some Yorkshire beer.

Thanks mate :) Definitely, it's been a lucky find, the coffee is always spot on, and it's a nice friendly place too :)

That's a shame :( It's not something I could send in the mail either :(

LOL! :D Yeah, I think the distribution of Samuel Smith's is better in the US than it is in Yorkshire! :D Great pic that
Cool pic Jer :)
It’s an art piece lol. But it also stares at me every time I buy another knife.
🤣

A sammitch made of only fries? Oh I'm definitely going to try this with my own spin.

So I looked up this culinary masterpiece and it says that it is commonly served with ketchup or brown sauce. Brown sauce kind of seems like what we call steak sauce (which is delicious) but I could be wrong. Is anyone familiar with brown sauce and is there something comparable in the states?
This may be considered blasphemy in Yorkshire, but If you can't get ahold of Henderson's Relish, I think the closest thing would be Worcestershire Sauce.

Looks good! You ought to try Spam and peanut butter.
Y'all ever had a "Fluffernutter"? We grew up eating them, but few people outside of Pennsylvania and New England have heard of them.
