Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

You will love it, Dave. It's a shame about the slow Canadian post. :(
I think I see it coming now! :D

It's nice to have a beautiful companion.

Thank you :)

Congrats to your friend, Jack!

Thanks Barrett, he's down in Bristol :)

Been a bit of a spell since I've posted here. Things are going at a pace that I can barely manage to keep up with.

Taking a moment to slow down a bit and enjoy some finer things. The AC has been a pretty constant companion.

Good to see you here Dylan, and with a superb pic, as usual :) Glad you're liking your AC

I think we've all got our fingers crossed for you Dave

:D

My AC has been getting of use slicing cake down on the tool stall this morning :) I must get a pic sometime, but for now, here's a substitute pic with a sausage roll! :D ;)

Only halfway through my day here, and it seems like I've had a long day already!

Morning all! Ron that is a super cool handle. Looks like smooth elk?
Thanks Dwight! It’s actually Pere David’s Stag. While not as colorful or as textured as Sambar it is probably more plentiful in Europe. I have two Lambsfoot examples with this Stag and it appears to be a durable handle material. I’m sure Jack can give more details for us. :)

The Indian Government's export ban on sambar hit the Sheffield cutlers some years ago now, and they have struggled to get hold of a decent replacement. Arguably, with a little more thought and ingenuity, they might have found an alternative source for sambar, as the replacement stag has been inferior. It was only after a few years of having to use some very characterless stag that Wright's were able to source quantities of Pere David. It is durable, and does have some character, but given a choice, I think most folks would favour sambar. The sambar used for the Ashley's Choice knives was vintage stag, which had originally been cut for table cutlery hafts (eg steak knives)

My Missus made me an Amish chocolate peanut butter cake.:thumbsup::D:D

That looks very far from 'plain' my friend! :D I'm putting on weight just looking at it Dave, it looks delicious :)

Well, I'm very happy with the "vintage stag"! Stag and jigged bone are my favorite cover materials, and the AC knife is gorgeous.

Thanks Jack for explaining it. No doubt if one was expecting Sambar stag the Pere David would be a disappointment. However the two are so disparate it almost seems like apples and oranges. I find Ron's Pere David to be strikingly beautiful in it's own right. I am very partial to smooth bone and with the random markings on Ron's reminds me of walrus tusk. :)

Thanks for that info Jack! While stag is stag, I definitely prefer the Sambar, especially the vintage Sambar that is on the Ashley’s Choice! :)

Happy to do so Dwight :) You are right to think of Sambar and Pere David like that I think, they are so dissimilar. Pere David can look very nice, but it is very different to Sambar

Me too Ron :) Pere David like your example looks good, but I love the character of old Sambar :)

Your right Jack it's not very plain for an Amish cake. :D
I guess she figured I gained so much weight as a bus driver what the heck give him more! :p

LOL! :D

Have a good Friday fellow Guardians! :) Today I will have my 2018 Ebony Guardian in my pocket! :)
