Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Bob, congratulations! Jack, another fun Yorkshire day!
Glad you enjoyed it Joshua, thanks for joining in the fun buddy :)
Wonderful lamb, Jack, I love the dark stag. Bob, you lucky rascal, congrats!
Thanks a lot Jeff :)

I have finally got all my work finished, (more or less), all my chores done, bags packed, sandwiches made, face shaved! :D I don't have to get up any earlier tomorrow, my train doesn't leave Leeds until 9.40am, so I'll just ring for a taxi after breakfast. I might not post as early as I usually do tomorrow, but I should be able to keep in touch while I'm away. I hope the rotten weather doesn't limit the number of photographs I'm able to take (the forecast for Saturday, in particular, is pretty awful). Whitby has some great pubs, though it is no longer the relatively sleepy seaside town it once was, and as a consequence, the best of them get busy, and the worst of them actually! :D I'm just having a couple of beers, and then I will go and have a hot bath, and an early night :)

I wonder if this van will still be parked in Whitby! :D There's one like it, but a LOT dirtier, not too far from me, that has been there, abandoned, at least 15 years! If it was on the road, it would have been towed-away for not having road-tax, but it's parked in a car-park, which is privately owned! o_O

Super cool photo Jack. I hope you have a great trip and that you don't have to slap tool man around too much. How are you going to turn in early when you can't turn in late??? 😁

Thank you Dwight, there's a tunnel, which comes out on the cliff opposite, and gives you a great view 🙂 I'll be sure to pack my slapping gloves for Tool Man! 😁 He has excelled this time! 😖 Good point! 🤣👍

Not a good start, just had an email from the train company saying that my train has been cancelled! Not to worry, it says, just "jump" on the next train! But the next train is slower, with more stops, will be packed, and I don't have a seat on it, just like everyone else who was getting on the first train! Then, if that train doesn't get cancelled, and I can get onto it, I'm probably going to be standing all the way, and I'll get in an hour and a half later, then have to wait an hour for a connection, which might also be packed due to the train cancellation, and even if it isn't I'm not going to get to Whitby until 4pm 🤬 Tool Man has just rung me to say that the site is pretty bad there due to the weather, and the people putting on the rally are already turning people away! 🤯 I think tomorrow is going to be a trying day

Can you rent a car?

I feel for you brother. Newcastle buses was privatised just before covid. When we moved 18 months ago, we made sure the youngest could still go to her high school. Which is literally next suburb over, had to get 2 buses to get there. She would be late every second moring because at least 1 bus had been cancelled😠 Lucky she got her car in April not an ideal way to do last year of high school, was better when I was a kid. There is a govt inquiry going on but i don't see anything changing, yet they want less cars on the road😯😆

I haven't driven in years Vince. Might have been an idea, but the parking is terrible in Whitby - but then that's true of almost everywhere here! 🙄
Afternoon Guardians! Hope your trip turns out good despite early difficulties.

Thanks Mitch, that sounds terrible! ☹️ Buses were privatised here in 1997. Since then, fares have gone up from a few pennies to the point where people can't afford to get on the bus. Lots of places, you can't get to anymore, because the routes weren't considered among the most profitable ☹️

Well, I'd lose the £300 I paid for my hotel ☹️
Wow! That is really expensive. ~$400 a night for a hotel room is pretty rare where I travel in the USA but, I also don't stay in large cities or in hotels around super-touristy places either.

Is driving/carpooling an option? Seems like there may be a few people that could get together and make it a road trip.

Regarding parking though, I remember trying to park in Amsterdam! Ended up about 30km outside of town and took a train back into town. 😠
