Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Wow! That is really expensive. ~$400 a night for a hotel room is pretty rare where I travel in the USA but, I also don't stay in large cities or in hotels around super-touristy places either.

Is driving/carpooling an option? Seems like there may be a few people that could get together and make it a road trip.

Regarding parking though, I remember trying to park in Amsterdam! Ended up about 30km outside of town and took a train back into town. 😠
That's for a single room in a small hotel Sid, for 4 nights. I booked it well in advance because, last year, I couldn't see anything under £200 a night, and that was for a dormitory bunk in the youth hostel! 😱

Too short notice now unfortunately. Tool Man and his mates are all driving in their waggons, but they're all selfish baskets! 🙄

Yeah, Amsterdam is terrible! 😱

Mmmm, sounds familiar, oh yes, British rail seems to ring a bell. :(:(:(
The cost of train travel is just unbelievable now mate, it's cheaper to fly! They're shutting most of the ticket offices in stations, and taking guards off the trains! 🤬
Looking good Mitch, I hope you enjoy using it 👍
I’m a little late but congratulations Bob, and Jack your generosity shows again
Thanks Daniel, you're very kind 🙂👍
Your photos are works of art Dwight! 😎 As is that Lambsfoot 😎👍

Good morning Guardians, it's actually stopped raining here! I don't know if I'm being foolish/stubborn just setting off today, but I'm going to give it a go. Going to involve 2 taxis, 2 trains (I have to change at York now), at least one bus, and a fair bit of walking, but the worst thing will be if I have to stand up on the train, which is practically a certainty, with the previous trains being cancelled, and no longer having a seat booked :( If the weather is like this in Whitby, Tool Man will be waking up in his Austin K9, to a glorious start to the day, with fine views over the North Sea. I used to camp on those cliffs myself, and it's a great spot. Unfortunately, from what he was saying last night, the awful weather is going to have a big impact on the steam rally. Sad for the organisers, and all the caterers, and other businesses that'll lose out. A bad year can end an event like that for good, though hopefully not this one. There'll just be Boring Ray down at the market today, and Nobber Al, to represent our usual gang, but I dare say Special Needs Scott, and a few of the others will call by for a chat. Hope you all have a good day Guardians:) I'll try to keep Lucy out of trouble ;)

As expected the train is packed, mainly with kids going to the seaside for the day. I managed to find a small fold-down bucket seat though. Not particularly comfortable, but a lot more comfortable than standing up! 👍

Glad your decision is working out Jack.
Thanks guys, the bus from Whitby to Scarborough was 10 minutes late getting into Scarborough, which meant I just caught it for the return journey. This bus journey is supposed to be one of the most scenic in Britain, but unfortunately, I'm stuck on the lower deck. I got talking to a couple from New Zealand's South Island in the bus queue. They hadn't met Campbellclanman Campbellclanman yet, but they seemed like very nice people anyway! 😁👍
