Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK, nice to see this thread thriving with fine folks :) After weeks of rain, and unseasonably cool temperatures, the return of some warmer weather has come as something of a surprise, and is slightly disorientating. I was wearing clothing for a mild British winter a couple of days ago, now I'm wearing a light shirt. Not that we have a heatwave, the temperatures are only in the 70's, but that's 10 degrees more than we've had in a while. No doubt Tool Man has been finding out his grubbiest vest for the Thursday market! :D I have absolutely loads to do at the moment, so I shall only be going for a couple of hours. Have a good day everyone, and I'll catch up with you all later

Jack that is terrible, you are right, they should have closed, if you can't provide full service don't charge full price😠 money is tight for everyone.
my komperdell is only about 15 years old. 2 poles are good for off road. though I can't hold a full size staff in my off hand no wrist plated & fussed. Not that I go bush much these days.
Cork is good, still used on modern sticks as it is light, non slip when wet & apparently antibacterial which surprised me.
Have a good day Jack
I don't see how they can even call themselves a hotel with no service - No Reception, no food, no room service, no bedding change, limited DIY towel change, no security. I may even make a complaint to the booking company. Overall, I found the prices in Whitby expensive for the standards on offer, I didn't have a good meal, or a good cup of coffee, while I was there, and the 4 day trip cost me considerably more than an all-inclusive week in Bulgaria, the other month, with a large room with sea-view

Two poles are excellent for off road my friend :) It's nice that cork still has a place in the world, it's an interesting material  Thank you Mitch, you too buddy

Jack Black Jack Black thanks for the pictures of your trip that you’ve posted so far. Sorry it didn’t go as planned, but I hope you were at least able to enjoy yourself a bit. And hey, even lousy trips can make for good stories. 😉😁
Thanks Barrett, I'll try to post some more pics this evening :) My apologies, to everyone, for the lack of continuity
I’m looking forward to the photo of you with Tool Man in a headlock. 🤣
Might have to get a selfie today ;) :D I think there might be a pic where I actually have my hands around his throat, and him looking suitably terrified, but if so, it was taken by Lorraine, on her son's phone, so I will struggle to obtain it. Never say never though ;) :D
That is an impressively small hotel room! 😲 Looks like it’s not far from being one of those Japanese capsule hotels.
You probably get better service in Japan! :D
Sorry to hear that, Jack. 🙁
Thanks mate, ruined my day :(

Amazing photo's Jack, Sue and I are coming back over- oh probably within a years time- I would love to catch up with you then - so we will be in touch my friend.

Whitby looks lovely! I am sorry about some of the traveling troubles.

Take Care Jack and Guardians! Have a lovely day everyone!
Thanks Duncan, that is fantastic news, I am really looking forward to seeing you again :)

A couple years back, when I still worked in person, I would routinely come home looking forward to opening a package whose delivery I'd been notified about - only to find that it had already been plundered by porch pirates.

My solution, taking a cue from the tactics of NYC residents during one of their prolonged garbage strikes, was to fill empty Amazon boxes with all the old kitchen trash, dog droppings, and whatever other unpleasantness I could find, tape them up, and leave them on the front steps as i was heading out in the morning. I do hope the bandits enjoyed their filthy lucre.
They are a modern plague  I don't think it is such a regular crime here yet, as in the US, but the thieves are catching up :( That's a novel solution! :D I have seen some good ones on YT :D
I regret missing the Yorkshire Day festivities, but I belatedly submit this M. May lamb covered in Yorkshire Oak. It's not the most refined Lamb in my collection but it's stout, solid, and feels like it was made to be a worker which, if I understand correctly, fits with the intended spirit of the design.
That's a lovely photo :) Yes, that's the Lambsfoot :)

Some beautiful lambs posted today. Jack I'm really sorry about Kevin's gift package being stolen. That's a down right shame and very sad to hear. @seas165 a very kind gesture none the less.

Have a great one Guardians.View attachment 2281448
Thank you very much Dwight, that's very kind of you :) I can see JohnDF JohnDF being tempted back by your beautiful photo :)
