Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

To keep it on track.

LOL! :D
I hope the Guardians will accept this picture, Snow Lamb with Snow Dog, as atonement for my recent diversion into the wild and wooly world of Australian trees. I kinda have a thing for trees - and not just Australian ones. 🌲🌴🌳

Beautiful photo :)
Hello All,

I too do the Klean Kanteen! Great product

@Jakeywax31 Paul the Cowboys D looks fearsome so far but IMHO, the test is against the vaunted SF 49’ers on the road. We win that game and it’s on. @sf fanatic

Go Cowboys!
Nice Pete
I generally use the pen when the main is a little large for the job at hand. However, as you said, it really doesn't get a lot of use. I just kind of like having it there.
Fair enough Dan :)

Good morning Guardians, it's raining here again, and heavily  I have to go to a funeral, and I'm looking to it even less than usual. Frank, a friend and neighbour, passed, from cancer, a couple of weeks back, very sad, but fortunately he died in his sleep. He and his partner, Donna, only met in later life, never married, but were very close, a compact unit, who did everything together. Frank's death must have hit Donna very hard, but she's a tough cookie. I only met Tim, Frank's son, after Frank became ill, and after he passed, I e-mailed Tim some photos of his dad, and a few words that he'd asked for. I didn't receive a reply, but Donna gave me the funeral details the other day. There seems to be some tension between her and Frank's family, however, which I obviously don't want to get involved in. Frank was from Dublin, and his elderly siblings are too frail to make the trip over, and apart from myself, the only other invited guests from the street have excused themselves. With one exception. There's an old West Indian lady, who lives in the flats (apartments) across the road, with her adult son. She's always been a bit loopy, and she's now quite deaf, and in cognitive decline I would say. While I was speaking to Donna, on the pavement, outside her and Frank's house, the other day, having only just learned of the funeral, the old lady came out of her flat, and Donna went across to speak to her. I'm not sure she knew Frank particularly, but the next thing, I had been volunteered to take her "in your taxi", and the old dear was shouting over demands about what time I should pick her up, and in what manner! She's a nice old lady, but I don't even know her name, and apart from the fact that a taxi is a £50 round trip, I don't want to have to listen to her rantings, all the way there and back, or to have responsibility for her. Friends have suggested I feign sickness, particularly as I'm now having second thoughts about attending anyway, but I'm not going to lie, so I guess I'm saddled with the job. I'm not religious, but I would like to pay my respects quietly, without her. Anyway, sorry for the digression. I hope everyone is keeping well, and that your week got off to a good start. More Waboom needed I think! ;)

Sad news indeed Jack. You will get good Karma points for helping your neighbour👍

More BobStag,
Just got home took plastic, glass bottles & cans for recycling. Get 10c a bottle or can, made about $20.
Then went to the shops & had my coffee.
The owner brought out nibbles & ice water in the good glasses as it was still about 90 degrees at 5. Yep I still like my coffee in the heat😯 crazy I know.

Thanks Mitch :) That's a good idea with the recycling, I don't know why they abandoned the deposit system here, it was my main income as a kid! :D Sounds like a nice coffee shop my friend :)

Sad news for Donna and you. Doing the respectable thing is very hard sometimes. Nice of you to take up the " challenge".

Coffee in the Gobi desert would be appropriate to start my day Mitch. 👍🏻

Yeah the return & earn was around when we were kids, some states kept it going. Started back here a few years.
Yeah the owners of the cafe, took over less than a year ago, couple in their late 20s. No not hipsters.

Fall comes apace. The apples have lost a majority of their leaves and the roses of Sharon are following. The wild cherries will not be far behind.
There are a lot of chickadees and titmeeses suddenly. I'm hoping nuthatches will get into the act. They seem rare these days.
I'm seeing a bird I've never seen before, probably about the size of a bluejay, but with a tail as long as its body, brownish red on top and brown-flecked white of bosom.

Sorry to hear of your friends passing and the dilemma of his funeral. Hope it all works out for the best.

Thanks a lot guys 👍 I called round at the old girl's to negotiate what time I'd call for her tomorrow. She has an intercom system, which wasn't working, but her adult son, Raymond The Feckless opened the window, so I could speak to them. The old girl was dressed up as she had thought the funeral was today, and when I told her I'd call for her at 9.45am, I'm not sure she understood me. Speaking through a crack in the window didn't help! I asked Raymond if he wouldn't like to go with his mother, (he knew Frank and Donna longer than me), but he said he was busy. Must be Giro Day tomorrow, as folks used to say here!🤨

It makes sense 👍 When I was a kid, there were a lot of bombed houses from the war, so we'd go looking for the old glass soda siphons, which were still very common then. There was a deposit of ten shillings and sixpence on them, which would buy us all sweets for a month! 😊👍

Nice 🙂 Some businesses take a while to get organised, while others really get it right from the start 😊👍

Yeah, the price never went down when they scrapped the deposit scheme! 🤔 When I was a young man, I used to drink in a biker's pub where they charged a deposit on bottles, but never refunded it. You'd occasionally someone who was down on their luck filling bags with the empty bottles! 😁

Sounds like a nice Fall Jer 😊 Nice shot of Rose Beast too 😎👍

It's sad at times to see the seasons change Jer. Yet, the new one tends to bring nice surprises we may have forgotten about.
I like the capture of your lamb.👌

After calling to see the old lady, (who it turned out, as I suspected, didn't know Frank well enough to know his name, anymore than she knows Donna's, or mine for that matter), the rain slowed down, so I walked down to Charlie's 😉 I needed a coffee after that encounter! 😖 Maybe I should take a flask to the funeral!

A sad truth is, it helps alot of homeless who collect the tossed bottles and cans.😞

That's sad Bob, but I guess it's at least a way to collect a few pennies. There's a huge homeless problem here, and all they can do is beg. I saw far fewer beggars in war-torn Lebanon 45 years ago, than I see on any given day in Leeds, and London is even worse :( Talking of which, I do hope that your daughter has settled in, and finding time to see the sights in our southern capital
Maybe she'll forget you and the funeral before you have to go. But the flask sounds like a plan.

Thanks Steve :D

After leaving Charlie, I went into town, as I needed to visit the post office. I don't know what's going on, but there have been long queues outside all week, with people going to the travel/foreign money exchange counter 🤷‍♂️ I really need to get a new compact camera, as I've noticed some focussing problems with the one I carry in my pocket (Canon SX620 HS) :(

Pa3Omjs.jpg

I wasn't queuing, so I went into the market, across the road, to buy some bread. While I was waiting to be served, the two people in front of me each asked for a pistachio brownie, which sounded nice, so I scooped up the last one ;) I was going to have it after my lunch, but it had started raining heavily, so I headed to the Tunisian food stall instead :) I'll have the brownie after my tea later ;) I wish I could take photos like our old friend Harvey :(

That is a bummer Jack. I hope you can do what you intend and quietly honor your friend. For the taxi ride perhaps some foam earplugs would be of some help.
