Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

If you order a new car, shortest wait time is about 2 1/2 months.
Yikes!
Hope you are happy with the new Elton John specs🥸
Have a good day.
LOL! :D Thanks mate :) Somebody is missing a trick, I've just been trying to find a template online to get some WABOOM!! glasses made up online, and nobody is doing them 🤷‍♂️:(;)😁

I decided to give the opticians a swerve, I might look for some online instead. It's not paying for them online, I just hate dealing with shabby con-artists, who treat everyone else like a 'mark' to try and get their hard-earned cash 🤨 I'd rather go to the dentists! Thirty years ago, I was living in France, and was struck by the presence of an opticians on every street corner. In Sheffield, at the time, there were probably no more than 20 in the entire city, and tucked away in the suburbs, for the most part. Five years later, it was the same here as France, because there's so much money in it! 😒 The scoundrels can't even get my prescription right 90% of the time 🤬

Jingle JIngle Jer! :)

Good luck Jack, I hate looking for new shoes 🙄

Thanks Steve, Grumble Towers is starting to look like Imelda Marcos's wardrobe! I've struggled with my feet for the past decade, and for every comfortable pair of shoes I buy, I buy 3 or 4 pairs that aren't. There was a sale on in one of the outdoor shops, and I bought yet another pair of Merrell trail shoes. At least this pair appear to be sized correctly, but we'll see. I have 4 other pairs, all supposedly the same size, and 2 of them don't fit me well, with one pair being uncomfortable underfoot

I called in at Charlie's on the way to town, and continue to worry about his business. Fabrizio, who with his missus Anna, now seems to be managing the place, warmed me up a croissant, but left it in the microwave so long that it was like cardboard, and inedible 😖 Despite deciding against visiting the optician, I had plenty to do in town, and without my second breakfast, I was hungry by lunchtime. I ended up ordering a chip butty in one of the shopping malls. One of the many things I dislike about being an old man, are the the attentions of old women, and I had just sat down with my chips, and was, literally, about to take a photograph, when I was interrupted by a slightly mad old girl asking how my chips were, because she hadn't enjoyed hers, and then started rambling on semi-coherently, for an extended period. I'm not sure what she was going on about, but I didn't enjoy my chips much either, as by the time I got to eat them they were cold! 😣

Always liked the look of those vans. Aust post for parcel delivery is sub contracted out, so they can turn up in a plain van or even just a sedan. I had 1ca couple of years ago want to drop and run. I stopped him and explained not mine and not even the right street. He realised he had delivered half a dozen parcels to the wrong streets😲
Our everyday postes only deliver letters even second day. Since the 70s posties have ridden step through motorbikes. As parcel deliveries have increased it was decided that posties would also carry small parcels. So in 2018/2019 ev trikes were introduced. Some posties still ride bikes, 1 postie was telling me they aren't great on hills. Funny looking things.
As Jack said larger area slower deliveries.

Those trikes definitely have a unique look. 😁 In the interim between the old Grummans and the goofy-looking new vehicles, I’ve seen a few different mail vehicles around here, most of which appear to be converted passenger vans. Vehicles used by rural mail carriers here in the US are a different story. Many of them use a personal vehicle, often converted for right-hand drive (I’m sure they’re compensated in some way for that, and maintenance). I spotted this one recently at a gas station. One of the more unique mail vehicles I’ve seen. 🤣

Certainly not like that now!  In those days, you could post a letter at 5pm in Glasgow, and it'd be delivered to London the very next morning. While the service has gone into decline, the price of postage has sky-rocketed! We still have First Class and Second Class post, (all about the class system here obviously ;)), but I'm not sure how much difference it actually makes in terms of delivery time. When I was a kid, you had to leave Second Class letters unsealed, for some reason. I think it was something to do with insurance, but people said it was so the postie could read the mail! :D Telegrams, which I rather liked, disappeared decades ago :(

Did I ever tell you about my confusion on our first trip to England, when I went to mail packages to you and Jolipapa Jolipapa ? My brother and I went to the closest post office to their place in Bath, which was less of a post office and more of a counter in the back of a corner shop. I handed the guy the two packages, he entered some information into his computer, then said, “First parcel, £5-something. Second parcel, £3-something.” (I don’t remember the exact prices.) Now I thought he was giving me the prices for each of the two packages, so I said, “Ok.” I didn’t realize he was giving me options (First or Second Class Parcel) for the first package, the one heading your way. 🤣 Thankfully my brother had been standing nearby (browsing snacks in the shop I think) and understood, so he stepped in and said, “First parcel, thanks.”

That's pretty good Barrett, it's lunchtime before I get mine, and sometimes considerably later. For some reason, they swap the posties around all the time, so they'll just get to know a round, and the streets, and people they're delivering to, then they get moved on, and the mail is going all over the place 🤨

I hardly ever see our mailman, because our mailbox is at the corner of our street rather than in front of our house. (We live on a dead end, and the last street you can turn on before the dead end is also a dead end with just a few houses, so all our mailboxes are together at the corner of the two streets.)

Those are iconic Barrett

Definitely unique little vehicles.

Minimum order might be a bit large! :D

Probably so. 😁

Do you know we manufacture zero vehicles in Australia now

That’s a shame, Mitch. 🙁

14 hours of baby sitting the smoker makes for a long day. I pass the time with a few brews, keep the fire going and I think I sharpened about 50 drills.

Nice pics, Dwight. I bet the end result was worth the effort. 🙂

There was a race of TV space aliens that had foreheads like that van.
Unless I'm thinking of Crow T. Robot.

🤣🤣

It looks like a vehicle designed by a cartoon artist. 😁

Just knocked out 14 hours out of our road trip. I am exhausted. I did however purchase a knife off of the exchange from a gas station in Pratt, Kansas during a fill-up 🤣🤣🤣. Don't worry guys, I did not get a chorizo burrito......I went for the corn dog. The K' roo has been my trusty road lamb. Hope everyone had a great day.

Well at least day 2 should (hopefully) be shorter.

I don’t miss the drive we used to make from Arizona to Arkansas, which was about 20 hours. A lot times we’d do it in one shot, usually leaving after work and driving through the night and most of the next day. 😳 I don’t know that I could do that now, and certainly not with the kids!

That was my stallion for 5 years. I loved that thing. No AC but mine was reliable.

I figured you’d probably been behind the wheel of one of those, Paul.

They tested that vehicle in El Paso to make sure it could handle the heat for a few weeks. There are cameras everywhere on that thing inside and out. Carriers are going to hate that their super is going to be able to spy on them whenever they want. I forsee some Union battles over it.

Thank god I am not humping mail anymore.

Oh yeah, I’m sure they won’t like that, but it’s the same for just about any driving job anymore. I wonder if the cameras can be monitored live, or if they simply record in case of an incident.

That’s a shame about Charlie’s, Jack, and your interrupted chip butty. 🙁 I know it’s no consolation, but the chip butty looks good at least (as does your D&B and your K’roo).

These Mercedes Vans are what I'm seeing around here for the replacements. I talked to my mailman the other day and he really likes it although he said that he's not too happy about it being rear wheel drive.

Nice pic of Waboom and nice Merrells. I own a couple of pairs myself 👍
Thanks Steve, I remember being sent a pair of their boots for review, way back in the early 90's. Overall, they were pretty good, but came in grey, and a bright green they called 'teal', with pink (had some other fancy name) accents! :D I tried dying them black, but it didn't work out so well! 🤣 The 6 pairs I have currently are all very similar-looking, mainly browner than the ones I got today, but as I say, they fit differently. These seem OK today, so I might pick up another pair while they're on sale. I bought a pair made by Columbia recently, and wasn't impressed at all
Carrying old Spalty today 👍

I think there are several more options now Barrett, I can see why it would be confusing! :D

The mailmen are probably frightened to come down to your house, in case the Bat-Penguin gets them!🤣

Those look pretty smart Steve, particularly compared to the tin boxes they use here, they're tiny

Market day tomorrow, but I've said I'll go for a pint with my mate Matt tonight. Going to have to try to not drink too much  I did tell him any night, but Wednesday, but like most of my younger friends, between him, his missus, and the kids, it's hard for him to find a free few hours

I went from wearing a size 9.5 to a 9 wide in Merrells and they fit much better. I usually try to buy two pairs as well when I find a comfortable shoe or boot. 👍

A most handsome Lamb Steve :)

Thanks Jack and have a fun night 👍

Those Kroos all seem to be stunners- take this one for example- Nice Knife there Paul

Sure did Mitch :) TYpical  Really? That's incredible :(

Those'll keep you fed mate! :)

Good to see the Blood Lamb Pete :)

That's a shame Dwight :( It's much the same here, many of the old farms have been bought up by city folks. We can't all be Paul McCartney, and buy up every bit of land for 30 miles around! There's a huge amount of building going on on 'Green Belt' land here this last decade or so, it's affected a few friends of mine. Small villages suddenly triple in size, completely changing them. A pal who bought an old water-mill, surrounded by countryside, suddenly found out that 200 houses were being built right next to him, and they'd want to share his 'drive'!

Cool photos buddy :)

Seems longer! :D I'd do some investigating, but my internet connection is as lame as a dead sloth, and the BF search function isn't worth squat anymore  The Silence of the Lambsfoot thread dates to 2013

🤣 🤣

That's a LONG drive Paul, glad you were able to re-fuel on the way ;) Sweet Lamb my friend :) Safe travels

A lot of the posties I know say they do it because they're not getting spied on all the time! Even Orwell didn't have the imagination for the stuff that goes on routinely today :(

Good morning Guardians, halfway through another week, and Thanksgiving is almost here, for our US friends. I hope everyone is going to be able to spend some time with family. I'll be down at the market, munching cake with Tool Man! :D Today however, I have to go to the opticians, and I also want to try and find some comfortable walking shoes, which I know from experience, is easier said than done  Going to have my Waboom Lamb with me :) Have a good day Guardians

& Jack's One too! Awesome! I still have my AC with me- the edge is holding beautifully!
