Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Having not eaten since around 8.30am, we were pleased to see Matlock Bath coming into view, two and half miles from Matlock itself, and were looking forward to the highly-recommended Mexican restaurant, which turned out to have gone out of business unfortunately :( Plenty of other cafes, restaurants, and fish and chip shops though, as well as a couple of pubs :)

We looked at a few menus, but didn't see anything we fancied, but then spotted a really nice-looking cafe, and went inside. Unfortunately, they only did cakes and ice-creams, of which there was a large selection, but the lady behind the counter, happily recommended a couple of places. One turned out to be a fish and chip shop called Charlie's Cafe, which turned out to be very good :) We then returned for coffee and cake at the first place, before catching a bus back to Matlock.

Before I managed to sprain my ankle, we visited a large antiques emporium. No knives, but I did find this -foot Marples spirit-level :)

Great picture of your Charlie Lamb
Thanks Steve.
Such an elegant knife
Thanks pal.
It was a plastic-handled JR; reStagged by glennbad , and gifted by knowtracks !!
What a beauty Charlie! Touched by two of the porch's finest.
A little Giraffe bone in the pocket today. Last day of work for the week and then have the weekend off. Tomorrow is Christmas tree day!!! Looking forward to it. My kids love picking out the tree and setting it up. I love the spiked egg nog 😁.

Finally made the switch to an Apple phone from Samsung. Everything feels backwards😂😂.

Stunning covers Paul.

Sorry to hear about your ankle misfortune Jack. :( Hopefully a speedy recovery.

That's good to hear Jer, wouldn't want Rose Beast falling into idle hands! :D ;)

I was meaning for the kids Barrett! :D I've avoided Harry Potter, and am only vaguely aware of Bluey, but I liked Lego as a kid, though it was simpler then, as well as a lot cheaper. When I was a very young boy, before I started skool, my auntie and godmother was engaged to marry one of Furness clan from Stannington. On a sunny Bank Holiday Monday, I walked, with my mum and dad, my uncles, and aunties, to the Robin Hood pub at Little Matlock in the Loxley Valley below Stannington, which I think, at some point, had been been owned by one of the Furness men, for a family get-together. Also present was the Barlow family, who were friends of both families. Young Steven Barlow was 2 or 3 years older than me, and I remember his mother singing the praises of Lego, a tin of which I was subsequently bought

Thanks mate :)
Great old picture Jack, and interesting to hear of the Furness and Barlow family connections. Is that building still intact?

Wonderful pictures and good to know that you had a lovely day out with Eve. I hope those fish aren't swimming in the "Petrifying Well". :)
Nice knife sitting on a nice old level. Neat to see the Broad Arrow and 1944 date markings.
