Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Man, you guys are posting some beautiful outdoor pictures!!!
Fodderwing, Padruig, r8shell, and Jack, great shots from the last two pages.
And 5kQs, the glow of what looks like a setting sun really sets off the stag on your two models.

My newest Barlow acquisition is this George Wostenholm IXL Lambsfoot. This knife needs cleaned, oiled and sharpened but other wise in great shape. Thank God the previous owner(s) never buffed it. Anyway I am including pictures of the tang stamps in case someone may know the date I know very little about these knives.

Nice find Randy, congratulations :) Our friend H herder has a collection of IXL catalogues, and if you're lucky that might be in one of them. I know, from him, that Wostenholm did not start producing a Barlow until 1905. IXL-stamped Barlows have been produced since then to the present day. I'm not sure when they first started making a Lambsfoot Barlow, but assuming those covers aren't synthetic, my guess would be 1950's, maybe 60's. The bolster and tang-stamps are the same as I have on later, rather ugly examples, with synthetic covers, but the form of things like that sometimes doesn't change in Sheffield for many decades

Very cool leather Lambsfoot. And if not too thick, maybe a good bookmark??? :)

Thanks a lot my friend

Morning folks here :) No hike for me today, as I have a few things I need to do at home :( Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

Having a change today, and carrying this Candle-end A.Wright Lambsfoot in Sambar today

LOL! Very good Randy :D Maybe I should paste a copy of your pic onto your next package?! Incredible view there my friend, hope you have a great weekend

It's bonfire season here, even though Bonfire Night is not until the 5th, many of the big ones (and attendant fireworks displays will be tonight)

It's always helpful to know more about whoever you're dealing with, even if the info isn't always pretty! :D:thumbsup::D
I don't think there is such a thing as "TMI". ;)

BTW, I don't think I've posted in this thread a pic of my lambsfoot for this week. It's my Cracker Jack's turn (and he's developing patina this week, not shown in the photo).

Nice pic, CJ is looking fine in the golden hour light!

I've had a really good day today, not least because I received a package from @Pàdruig :) Along with a nice hand-written postcard, Dylan kindly sent a couple of pocket slips for the 2018 Guardian's knives - really nicely made too :) And look at the amazing leather Lambsfoot he made, I am so pleased with it, it'll be taking pride of place on the wall of Guardians Towers ;) Along with some interesting beer-related paraphenalia, Dylan also enclosed a cool working knife, which I'll show in the EDC thread tomorrow :) Thank you very much for your kindness Dylan :)

Jazzy shot of cloud chamber lambsfoot and canine, FBC!:cool::thumbsup:
Killer Holy Hand Grenade reference - so apt and natural!!:D:thumbsup:
Thanks, Gary. Getting Rilley to stand still ( while out on a walk ) is no easy task. :p:D
I also employ the " Run away, run away" tactic on the dust bunnies. ;):D

They are obviously distracted by the beautiful view and pass your mailbox by unnoticed. ;):D

Thanks, Kevin! that's a fine buffalo golden and dark horn.:thumbsup: Is the pile side similar?

Morning Guardians, hope everyone is having a grand weekend. The weather here is a bit miserable today, so instead of a hike, I'm going to the cinema to watch a newly-released film, Peterloo, based on historical events which occurred in the North of England: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peterloo_Massacre Hoping to squeeze in a pie and a pint before that ;) Have a great Sunday folks :)

HP Sauce is now made in the Netherlands by Heinz. I haven't tasted it in 40 years, so I know I'll notice a difference. There's also a recipe online to make your own.
Blackadder is still as smooth as glass where the wood meets the metal.

Not my cat. I shudder to think what they may have done to make it hold still for the silly spectacles.

Jer that's one very cool cat picture.:cool:

I just want to take a second to thank Jack Black Jack Black for not only starting this great thread and The Guardians of The Lambsfoot but for me and I believe many others here introducing us to the Lambsfoot. I had never had one in my hand before Jack so generously sent me one and from the pictures posted here I feel Jack has sent these to a lot of the folks here. So if Jack sent you a Lambsfoot how about posting a thank you to the old boy here. THANKS AGAIN JACK!!

My picture today.

The best thread on BladeForums! Well, my favorite, anyway. Love my stockmans and trappers, but the lambsfoot is really cool. And versatile. So far I only have a wee staggie (Ashley's Choice), and it gets a lot of pocket time. Thanks, Jack!
