Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks. No idea where it came from.

If I live long enough, I suppose everything will be a mystery over and over again. Might as well enjoy it.

Oops. Forgot to quote donn donn . What fun.

Thanks, Gary! Not sure if I should click on that link!
Well, I clicked on the "mug shots" thread link. Saw it a few months ago. There are plenty of old geezers there!
It's always helpful to know more about whoever you're dealing with, even if the info isn't always pretty! :D:thumbsup::D
I don't think there is such a thing as "TMI". ;)

BTW, I don't think I've posted in this thread a pic of my lambsfoot for this week. It's my Cracker Jack's turn (and he's developing patina this week, not shown in the photo).

What a fine ornament

Morning Guardians. An early start for me. Hope you all have a fine day

Cool photo, David - even frosty! ;):thumbsup: Have you had a lot of mornings that cool already? I only remember 2 mornings so far this fall with frost on the grass.

I quoted David's post; I'll send you a bill. ;)
One aspect of aging I'm enjoying that lends credence to your statement is that I've discovered that many novels (especially mysteries/thrillers) I've read in the past I can now reread with just as much pleasure as I had the first time. Most of the details, surprises, and plot twists have disappeared from my memory. I could probably be happy as a clam for the rest of my life just reading a dozen of my favorite novels over and over!

Hey! More Cracker Jack! :)

LOL! :D Great pic of your AC GT, the pile side looks to have even more character than the mark side :)

Fantastic Dwight :)

I've had a really good day today, not least because I received a package from Pàdruig Pàdruig :) Along with a nice hand-written postcard, Dylan kindly sent a couple of pocket slips for the 2018 Guardian's knives - really nicely made too :) And look at the amazing leather Lambsfoot he made, I am so pleased with it, it'll be taking pride of place on the wall of Guardians Towers ;) Along with some interesting beer-related paraphenalia, Dylan also enclosed a cool working knife, which I'll show in the EDC thread tomorrow :) Thank you very much for your kindness Dylan :)

LOL GT! I recently finished rereading the entire Sherlock Holmes stories which I last read about 15 years ago. Fantastic stories! In regards to age though, it wasn't my memory that failed me, it was my reading vision....
That picture was actually from ?Thursday morning last week. And yes we've had several frosts, a couple of them really hard. I live in semi-rural Cheshire (generally a milder climate) but we've had some nights down to -5c which is very unusual for October. Last night was frost free but I think were forecast -4c tonight.
You've caught the colours on your Cracker Jack perfectly there

What a cracking gift! Love the map especially.
Did you catch any snow on the 27th Jack? This is a screen shot off my mate's phone from one of the Twitter feeds they follow showing The Lion Inn up on Blakey Ridge. I've sat up there in my shirt sleeves in October. :)

Blimey David, that is quite a dusting! I heard a couple of folks talking about snow 'on the tops', but there's been nothing where I live so far. I've got my cold gear ready though ;) Bizarrely, there seems to have been some sort of helicopter training going on nearby the past few days, police I presume. With up to 5 helicopters buzzing the rooftops, landing, and even flying up and down the streets below roof level! I did snap a pic on my phone, but I haven't uploaded it yet. Got this one today though (repro unfortunately)

Aye even York got a bit of the white stuff but it didn't last past lunchtime :(
A great shot! Of course, you went to Leeds Armoury today didn't you. Not been there in awhile but I always really liked it in there. They had that Spitfire mock-up in York a few years ago. You know you can fly in an original two-seater for about £2000gazillion :D
That's funny about the helicopters; is there anything going on in Leeds shortly? Could of been a member of the Royal family knocking about? I know the Met police have at least 3 EC145's with fast-rope capability for I think a 6 man (could be 8) tactical team. AFAIK the Met are the only constab' to possess that capability and 'standard' police helicopters wouldn't descend to rooftop level. The only helicopters I've seen do that are the Air Ambulance choppers.
Of course it could be the Army. I know London has (or at least had) a Special Forces immediate-response team based near Parliament I think. And there's some arrangement for rapid deployment of combat personnel out of the various barracks in London. Perhaps the government is extending that to other cities??

Very pleased that it arrived safely, Jack. I hope Chin will be receiving his parcel soon as well, if he hasn't already. I love the button pins!

Had the AC with me again today. Pay the leaves no mind... I enjoy autumn immensely but I dislike raking leaves.

Thanks, I was lucky to get there before a whole load of kids and their parents arrived (the reason I didn't get more pics). There were a handful of re-enactors in various dress, including the Russian Army and French Maquis. Nice enough, but they didn't know much about their subject or equipment. Nice transport though :)

I've known my mate 20 years, and he's been on time for a meeting only once, so by the time he got there, we didn't have time to see much of the Armouries. I should just go on my own sometime

The helicopters didn't have military or police markings, and at least one was civilian, which I assumed had been hired for training purposes. I wasn't at home yesterday, so don't know if there was a third day of it. I've never seen anything like it, I thought it might be Air Ambulance at the time. I was standing outside looking for the postman, so only had my phone with me. I did get a pic, but since I completely stripped my monthly data allowance uploading the pics of my mate's wedding, I haven't uploaded it yet. Maybe you'll be able to see more from the photo David  I hope they're not practicing to storm my house and steal my penknives! ;)

Happy Texas Arbor Day.

Thanks, Jack. That's a treetastic picture of your Ebony.
I'll be going to an Arbor Day party tonight, where we will eat Texas BBQ brisket, drink Shiner Beer, and plant/dedicate some trees. I have a friend in the neighborhood who likes to host events for obscure holidays. His Flag Day party in June is legendary. :D
