Howdy folks
I enjoyed carrying my HHB today.
I really like the way it feels and fits in the hand.

Earlier this afternoon while taking a break on the ice trails.

Is it hard to sharpen.???

Nah not really. I have it on a couple of French knives. I'm not a big stainless bloke but when I do it's not a bad choice.

So far I haven't let it get dull. Every so often I strop it so it stays hair whittling sharp. It came with a beautiful edge bevel and I've tried to preserve it.
This pic shows how beautifully even the bevel is.

I wondered that Jeff, man that thing is sleek!

What's the contraption? Is it a specialised ice walking aid? You'll have to forgive the ignorance, while we do get snow in parts on the country it doesn't get cold enough to be dealing with ice like that!

The device on the second picture is the racing version of the traditional kicksled from Sweden.

There’s a few places/ice skating operations here in Ontario and Quebec where they make ice trails though the forest by flooding them at night.
Here is a little video we took last winter

We bought cheaper hiking shoes at Walmart to which I applied hex screws on the sole to grip the ice.
It works really well ( much better than the strap on ice cleats we had used initially )

That's not how I envisioned it working!

I went to an ice skating rink in Melbourne once and never again. I couldn't stay on my feet with blades, my face did get well acquainted with the floor some though.

Some of you have heard about our grandson Gage who just graduated high school last summer. He turned 19 today (saturday) and this is a couple of pics of him doing what he does best. Yeah, I'm a little proud of him. Every weld is x-rayed. He's the one that's upside down.

Great pics, Dan! Hope you and the family are doing well. (Great video, too! I haven’t been ice skating since I was a teenager, and I’m kind of afraid to go again up here in MN where everyone skates. The handful of times I ice skated as a kid, I remember having the same problem as one of the kids in The Mighty Ducks… I never learned how to stop!)

We went out for Mexican food tonight. Julie ordered a large frozen margarita, and I figured why not and ordered one, too. Apparently she had misremembered what size margarita she normally ordered at this place. The large was definitely large. (They do offer an even larger size called “monster.”)

It's a pleasant place with some fine ladies behind the taps. There is a sushi station right behind me with oh so tender tuna!
Looks like a stout I would like Jack. I will see if it's available here.
I like that fine grain on your lamb.

It sounds great Bob It's been a few years since I drank more than one pint of stout, but the Black Heart goes down quite easily

I just looked online, found a website here with 33 offerings from Brewdog and none of them stout!

Blimey, I didn't realise they did that many beers! Brewdog were a big hit when they first started up here about 15 years ago, but a lot of folks soon soured with them, they're rather a nasty company, run by a bully, and most of their beers today are pretty mediocre. The past couple of years, I've kind of gone off the heavily hopped IPAs somewhat too

Yeah, much more than stout Jack, which I only rarely drink. In recent years, I've only really drank strong Imperial Stouts now and again, or the strong export Guinness occasionally. I was getting some online grocery shopping before Xmas, and they had Black Heart on offer, so I bought 3 packs, figuring I could always giver it away, if it wasn't to my taste. I liked it though, and since the offer was still on, when I was shopping last week, I bought some more

That's not how I envisioned it working!

I've never skated I was a youth worker when I was in my early 20's, and we took the kids once during the school holidays. A colleague advised me, "Unless you're a really good skater, don't get on the ice with these kids, they'll break your £%$&#@* legs!"

Those are BIG margaritas Barrett! I had a few frozen cocktails on holiday, but quickly discovered that if I drank them too quickly, they made my brain go numb! I hope that you and Julie had a great night

Good morning Guardians, I'm still struggling to get caught up here, and have a ton of work to do today, but I'll make sure I find time to post some more of my holiday snaps later. Yesterday knocked me out a bit too, as I ended up having a long walk along the canal with Matt, and his lad, Cillian, and then going round one of the museums on the edge of town. We walked back into town, and met up with Wolfie, and by the time I got home, did some housework, and cooked myself a Mitchburger I was whacked! Should have melted that cheese more, but I was starving!

I hope that everyone is having a great weekend Definitely need some Waboom today!

I was up with the dawn, and decided to walk along the cliff path to the twice-weekly market at Rubicon Marina further along the coast, about halfway to Playa Blanca.

There was only one other feller about...

And this feller The people of the Canary Islands seem especially fond of cats, and on Lanzarote, one regularly sees small 'houses' for them. Each morning, a lady walks around feeding them.

Looking back to my hotel...

From the cliffs opposite, I began to see the Papagayo beaches in the distance. Because of their isolation, people generally visit by boat, to dive and snorkel.

I also got my first view of El Castillo de Las Coloradas (or Torre del Aguila - 'The Eagle's Tower')...

In olden times, the Canary Islanders were constantly on the lookout for pirates, and a prominent feature of the coast here is this defensive fortification (see the link above), which dates to 1742.
