Thanks Charlie, I enjoyed itAwesome experience, Jack!!!!![]()
Probably, if the tour guide had let us stand still for 2 minutes! So I'm assuming you could feel the heat through your shoes if you stood long enough in one place?
Cool pic buddy
'Exciting' might be an understatement Bill!Magnificent desolation. Would have been exciting to see the eruption during real time. Some of that lava rock you had looks like the stuff I have in my fire pit!
Stay safe BillGood afternoon Guardians. Big storm moved into our area today. Heavy rain and high winds. Battening down the hatches! My HHB by my side.

Congratulations Pete, that jigging is very unusual, got a real Old School look to itHello Guardians. Another lamb joins the flock. I’m very impressed with everything about this knife. Fit and finish are outstanding and the jigging is

Beautiful photosAll of my... numerous... examples are fantastic.
No gaps, no blade wobble, smooth cover-to-bolster/endcap transitions, consistent pull weights, solid, everything lines up just like it's supposed to, plus - generally stunning cover materials.
One of the few criticisms I've heard is that some folks are opposed to super-chunky stag - that said, only the sambar stag options seem to be cut this way, their American elk covers are very trim. Personally, I love obnoxiously thick stag - put the whole darn antler on there says I! Some have commented that earlier releases from the company had 'nail-breaking' pull weights, however, while stout indeed - I find the lambfoot models to be very pinchable due to their very well executed nail nicks.
Here are some of mine:

I agree my friend, I love my one, and Jacks example is awesome - not as good as mine -but still awesome![]()
Thanks palThis looks awesome Jack! Love it!
Very nice Mitch
Amazing!First snow day the kids have ever had. They are enjoying it to the fullest. No work today so just sitting back. Did have to plow the driveway twice and it is still coming down. HHB riding in the pocket today.

That's why we have a secret e-mail listAll you HHB guys are thick as thieves, huh? Y'all got a secret handshake? I guess if you do, you don't talk about that sort of thing publicly.
A grail knife if ever there was one! I curse myself for not finding this community earlier in life!
Mitch, if there is ever something that gives a Knife a awesome Patina - Red Meat!
I always carry a certain Knife with me over the last few years when I go out to Dinner with Sue- this usually is on a Wednesday night - because that's my cooking night
The Staff see me with my own Knife as I don't use their Knife and they are always impressed.
One girl said the typical uneducated thing of " Oh dangerous - dangerous man carrying a Knife, so I said to her ( nicely as she said it nicely ) "no not really, If I tried to hurt you with this Knife it would fold up on my own fingers and cut me really badly, and see that Kitchen over there- the people working in there are actually the ones using the kind of Knife that 99% of Knife attacks and murders are committed with - that's right - Kitchen Knives, so when you go home - you have a lot of murderous utensils in your kitchen or sitting on a Knife block on your counter".
She looked at me and said " Wow... your right - I never looked at it like that", so now when she see's me she smiles and say's " Packin your Blade?"
I answer " Always " Its created a good hard case relationship!
About ZERO!I agree with you 100% Mitch! What do you think the odds are of sweet-talking Jack into getting another run of those going?
Not many here know the half of it DuncanI think Jack went through quite a bit of work getting his later runs going smoothly- possible too much to contend with to do anymore? Be nice to see what Jack says about this though- as he is THE guy over there to do this!
Thanks for understandingJack seems like a wonderful dude, and I'm sure if he could, he would, but as I understand the situation - that ship has unfortunately sailed.![]()
Thanks Bob, their QC is terrible, but it's not the only factor. Nice shotKnife content for relevance.
I believe it has to do with the lower standards of quality associated with the craftsmen available now.

Hi Ken!My apologies Will! Trying to remember real names to match usernamesBy the way- my name is actually Ken
And thank you for the insight and history. I’ve been trying to go back and read this thread from the beginning, but it’s going to take a while- it’s looong!
One of my favourite examples Dwight, great pic brother
Yeah, I can understand why dealers want their knives to look as similar to each other as possible! With all the postings of the barlow's, they are all examples of the vagaries of Stag. And you can apply that to any natural covers, everyone is different. One of the attractions of collecting knives.
Makes a difference doesn't it?!Afternoon shots.
Went to the chemist's yesterday, got my supplies. Might be a touch of OCD

There's actually 2 bottles of spray.
Thanks Joe
Thanks Charlie, I enjoyed it
Probably, if the tour guide had let us stand still for 2 minutes!I had some thick-soled Merrell hiking shoes on Dwight, and actually didn't notice it
Cool pic buddy

About ZERO!I had hoped to do at least a run a year, did all the hard work, cost me 5 years, and a lot of money. I still have a spare bedroom half-full of packaging material!
If I could get them made to a high standard, by people who are honest, I would
Not many here know the half of it DuncanA full third of the Hartshead Barlows originally made had crooked etches, bad bolster stamps, and other issues. The last samples I had made were appalling. Those aren't the worst issues I had, by any means. I'll not bother to mention the behaviour of some BF members
Anyway enough said, this comes up periodically, if you have one I hope you enjoy it, if not, you're a few years too late, but good luck for the future. It's unlikely I'll ever do another SFO, (the ones I did a few years ago were sold at LESS than the cost of production), but if I do, the folks that have read post #1 will be the first to hear about it![]()
Thanks for understanding
Thanks Bob, their QC is terrible, but it's not the only factor. Nice shot
Hi Ken!You guys can always add your first names to your sig lines if you want!
It's a good read, but LONG.!
You'll learn a lot from the first few hundred pages though (and there's always the Thread Index)

Good morning Guardians, have you folks all been drinking too much coffee, or is there nothing on TV?!I hope everyone is doing well, and thanks for the appreciative comments on my Hartshead Barlow, I'm sorry you don't have a whole line-up of them
Have a great day everyone

Yeah, I've lost half the morning!that was a long post!
Yeah I don't know how people can't clean their glasses. Bulk buying makes it a lot cheaper
Nah no more coffees it's wind down time after 9.30pm
Have a nice day.
Beautiful knives, that stag is much nicer than the ones I've seen for sale. I think in having them chunky they've had to grind off quite a bit of pearling to mate it to the bolsters (obviously not yours because she's beautiful). Mammoth is stunning and the Catalina bone is a beaut too.All of my... numerous... examples are fantastic.

Two of the most beautiful things on this man’s earth there, Pete. Congrats on the Albers, buddy.
Thank you DavidThanks Dwight! Nice Lamb you have today.
Great score!
He most certainly does Duncan. It would be amazing to sit around a fire and listen to the stories.Eric strikes again!, That guy certainly has a talent doesn't he, Oh to sit at a table with a beer- ok, two or three and listen to his tales of working in Schrade etc- just amazing- and yet we are still so lucky to see his work coming out- just awesome.
Thank you Dwight. Just got really lucky with this one.Thank you Leon!
Gracias Bob!
Many thanks Steve!
Super cool acquisition my friend!
Two wonderful images Paul!I can only imagine how thrilled those two little men were!
Thank you Jack. My wife can’t figure out why I keep staring at it.Congratulations Pete, that jigging is very unusual, got a real Old School look to it![]()
Maybe Eric has worked a hypnotic spell into the jigging Pete!Thank you Jack. My wife can’t figure out why I keep staring at it.![]()
Hard to express how awesome those pictures are, Jack. An amazing vacation my friend.
Truly a memorable vacation Jack, such interesting beauty to absorb.Since El Diablo were clearly not giving kickbacks to the tour company, we high-tailed it out of there, before anyone could buy so much as a postcard! I snatched a few pics before we boarded the bus, but almost all of these were taken through the tinted window of the bus
