Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Your right Jer it is

It's St' Nicholas church, in the village of North Grimston in North Yorkshire, not far from Malton. The church is 12th Century but the font is earlier. Both church and font are regarded as Norman but the font is believed to be older than the church. Some even believe it's Anglo-Saxon, but if it's not then it was possibly carved by Anglo-Saxon masons working under Norman direction.

Appropriate for me today. Just came from my granddaughter Eleanor's baptism (good English name).

Thank you Jack :) It seems once Nov 11 Remembrance day passes then winter really starts up its minus 10° right now. o_O

That IS cold for November Dave

Have a great Sunday folks.View attachment 1018578

I agree, you can really see the grain of the wood.:thumbsup:

Hope everyones having a great weekend
Insightful reference to the size of Jack's knife holdings, David! ;):thumbsup:
I'm always surprised by the vistas you show; I just don't think of England as having so much unoccupied land!

...It has been rampant in schools and hospitals here over the past decade GT. Not having young kids anymore, I've managed to escape it so far. I was talking to a pal today who is a school janitor, and he told me he had been ill this week, and the symptoms were very similar to mine, including the hallucinations, so that more or less confirms it for me :(
...
Nice try my friend...;) :D

It turned out to be a really well organised international event, with maybe 40 fights of three 3 minute rounds, primarily boxing, but also 2 different types of kick-boxing, and 2 different types of grappling. It turned out I knew quite a lot of the fighters, and the guy from Sheffield who set up the ring  These days, I think they might have had to invent a new weight category for me my friend! :D Hope you managed to get everything done

Good to know what you were dealing with during your illness, Jack.:thumbsup:
"Loose lips" not "Zipped lips" - ah! ;):D Apparently my memory has lapses ...
Glad you enjoyed the matches, Jack.:thumbsup: I had a surprisingly productive Saturday (not sure if that's good or bad ;)).

I carry a Lambsfoot...

DnBhesa.jpg

Because if I don't bisect the sausages for my Sunday Sausage Sandwicch, they roll off the bread! ;)

How 'bout you?
Rolling sausages are completely uncivilized, so your lambsfoot helps to sustain our civilization!;)

Haven’t posted in a while. But I’ve been carrying lambsfoots. Today I have Ashley‘s choice:

Looks good, Joshua! The mark side butt-end swirl is trying to hide, but I can still admire it! ;):cool:

Thanks GT, seems there was no need to throw out half the contents of my fridge afterall! I learned the perils of a runaway sausage early in life my friend! ;) When I was a teenager, I shared a house with a friend of mine. One night, we both arrived home a little drunk, and decided we'd have a sausage sandwich each, as I was putting the sausages onto the bread from the frying-pan, one rolled off and onto the floor via my shoe. So I ended up with a thinly-packed sausage sandwich, and every time I looked at my shoe for weeks after, I could see the shape of the sausage stained into the soft brown leather! o_O My pal still teases me about it every few years! :D

Awww...congratulations! :) A special day indeed! In English history Eleanor is a very auspicious name. Eleanor of Aquitaine was queen to Henry II whose descendants ruled England (and France) for over 400 years. And Eleanor of Castille was queen of Edward I and is regarded as being one of the most popular queens in English history  Here's wishing your Eleanor does as well in life :D:thumbsup:

What a cracking watch GT. Do you still use it?
That picture was less than 2 miles from a main road and within earshot of a major motorway. On a clear day I'd be able to see Manchester behind me. We don't have the tractless wilderness of North America :(
but if I walked in a straight line over the hills in the distance the next major town I'd hit would Carlisle about 100 miles north

I once tried learning Scots Gaelic from a book Dave - not an ideal way to learn a language! :D
I think its a language that you would have to grow up with, I found German was much easier to attempt.
My Grand Father was from the Isle of Skye, a pretty colorful character. Wore a tweed cap jet black boots, had pure white hair and smoked a pipe, also spoke with a brogue, which was a dickens to understand. :eek:o_O

I suspect so, I have a smattering of Irish Gaelic, but just the stock phrases. The language is actually enjoying something of a renaissance in all parts of Ireland I believe :) Skye is a lovely place, and your grandfather sounds like a great character Dave, must have been a great adventure to cross the sea like he did. I've generally found the most impenetrable Scots accents are in Glasgow, a Highlander or Islander would struggle to understand them - and I don't just mean the language! :D  I only know a little German, I found Spanish much easier, French I know much better, Arabic I once spoke fluently. I have friends who can switch between multiple languages without batting an eye, but I'm old, and travel rarely these days :)

Merci, mon ami!

You are a polyglot Vince! ;)

Awww as someone who likes snowy winters that's really annoying:mad: The entire mainland UK is further north than Canmore in Alberta. If if wasn't for that pesky Gulf Stream I'd be building snowmen now :D
