Very nice David
What sort of stuff do you eat, if you don't mind my asking FrankI’ve been using it nightly for my -working out of town, hotel made meals- not TV dinners mind you, but still microwave. It’s already developing a patina
Buy yourself some canned air, and after flooding the joint with oil, and working the blade, blow air out through the pivot. You'll be amazed at how much gunk comes out. Lots of maintenance tips in the partial Thread Index linked to in post #1Thanks! I’m liking everything about it so far.
Thanks! Yes, I pushed some mineral oil into the spring and pivot with a q-tip. It still comes up with black oil it but it’s smoothed out a lot - or my thumb is getting stronger.
LOL!Sounds interesting, Jack. I had to look up “nigella.” I had never heard of the spice, but I was pretty sure that jar of chutney wasn’t referring to the coquettish cooking show host.![]()
Looks good my friend, nice to see itThought I’d give my 2018 Ebony Guardians Lambsfoot some pocket time today. Hadn’t carried it in a while.

Nice work Ed
True and my wife will tell me that later.A man has to know his place.![]()
Well I do hope those plants survive Bill. You have a nice mellow tone on your HHB.Good morning Guardians. Went into the low 20's last night and into this morning. Very cold for southern NC. Hope my shrubs make it though ok. I have a 15 foot palm in the from yard that seems to be a variety that tolerates a little cold weather. I would hate having to replace it. Many of my mornings have been spent indoors re-finishing an airgun stock - walnut. I'll be having my HHB keeping it company today.

Good afternoon Guardians, no snow here, but lots of ice! It hasn't been over 30 all day, and a few of the market traders failed to show up, including Nobber Al, who wimped out last week too!Cold, but the wind was low
The Shadow nearly cut Musical Andy's thumb off when the greedy sod made a grab for a piece of cake I was in the process of slicing
Wolfie called in, and we went for a coffee, I had a knife to give him for Brother Tony's birthday
We had a new visitor, a butcher and gamekeeper, who I had a long chat with, about knives, shotguns, netting rabbits, and catapults
Tool Man deemed it cold enough to don his cap, and stuffed his face as usual!
I forgot to have lunch, so have just had a chicken sandwich, and I think I'm going to have curry for tea
Struggling a bit with my internet connection for some reason

Thanks a lot Bob, I hope the new feller comes back. He was telling me about the use of the Long Net to catch rabbits in the dark, or in low light. Basically the net is a 40ft length of netting, with long fibre-glass spikes to help hold it in place, so that it stands vertically. This far, I knew, and I also had a few ideas about how they might be driven into it. Simon had an interesting trick, which he had been shown 40 years before. Generally, two men, sometimes more, are employed in the netting. Having put the net into position, at one end of the field, where the rabbits are gathered, two of the men each have one end of a 40ft length of string, which they position a few inches above the ground (maybe tied to an ankle, but that's just a complete guess, I'll have to ask about that). They move towards the rabbits, and as the string catches each rabbit, it is startled and bolts in the opposire direction, hitting, and becoming entangled in the net.Good to see some new life at the market Jack...hope survives.
Like your shadow,we don't see enough of them.
Thanks Steve, it wasn't badSounds like a good day at the market![]()
