Good morning all. Same knife, different breakfast for me today.

I was having a look through the Otter website earlier (my mind is rambling all over the place at the moment), and I spotted the knife below, which Otter call the York. At first glance, it immediately reminded me of the knife birdsbeaks birdsbeaks posted for us to see the other week (that may have been partly because I'd gone to the site seeking information for him though). Upon closer inspection, there's no direct connection, and the blade appears to have a slight curve. Otter refer to it being a modern blade shape, which I think is correct. Makes one wonder if they could make a Lamb though :D

Very interesting Jack, even as a lover of modern lambs, I could not accept that into my flock.

No, definitely not Bob. There are a lot of modern near-Lambs about (often called 'Reverse Tantos', or otherwise vaguely described), but I am sure none of them work as well as the Lambsfoot, which is why so many cutlers produced the pattern. They certainly don't compare aesthetically of course :) Still, with a traditional cutlery firm, it make you think of the possibilities:) Here's Schultz, a genuine German Lambsfoot :D

Thanks for sharing Jack.๐Ÿ‘Œ

What a horrible thing weak coffee is! ๐Ÿ˜– I always took Kate for a light-hearted type of gal! :D Dentists' bills are horror enough Jer, I'm glad there was none further
Such a disappointment, too, first thing in the morning.
Never Forever has Hammer Horror on it too. She's deep.
This extra pic from yesterday is not totally inapt:

No, further songs followed, and there is no relentance in Watkinson's Repentence
Hell's fury may not equal a woman's scorned but the fury of the "little meisters" was due some consideration! ๐Ÿ˜
What an outstanding photo of that titanic trio Dwight
Thanks mate!
A Sheffield cutler I know, half my age, told me that he remembered, as a child, seeing his mother and father, (both of whom I also knew), dragging a large box of knives, up the hill in the snow, on Christmas Eve, to go and get their remuneration, and pay for the following day's lunch. That would have been no earlier than the late 1970's
That's really amazing to have been the case so recently.
I rang Tool Man earlier, and his reaction was "Don't say you're not going to be at the market on Thursday."!

In a morbid roundabout way that may have been a good thing. If they had been paid earlier there was probably a better than even money chance that the local hostelry may have ended up with their remuneration and as such Christmas lunch may have become a distant memory. ;)โค๏ธ.

Excuse my absence, Guardians. A bit under the weather. Been keeping in touch with many of you over text. I really donโ€™t like to miss a day. Pretty sure I have Covid version 87 or whatever number they are on. Nothing major with moderate flu like symptoms.

Now that we got the bad news out of the way. The weather here in Wisconsin is lovely. Supposed to get into the 50s next week!! Nothing much going on here. On a DayQuil/Nyquil diet ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. HHB has been in the pocket and have cut through about 4 large oranges. Vitamin C time. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Damn, stay fightin' tough and hope you get better soon.
Nice stag on your HHB Paul.๐Ÿ‘Œ

Perhaps you can let an orange slice fall into some bourbon!

Cool pic Jer! :D I only know her pop hits, never my thing. I'm sure it's my loss ;)
Hell's fury may not equal a woman's scorned but the fury of the "little mesters" was due some consideration! ๐Ÿ˜
It certainly was, the mesters are unique in British legal history in having escaped prosecution on the basis that they told the truth to an inquiry into the so-called 'Sheffield Outrages', when scabs were shot, blacklegs were blown up, and 'sweaters' sent to meet their maker! The cutlers union were a rather tame lot compared to the saw grinders however!
That's really amazing to have been the case so recently.
The cutlers may have escaped prosecution, but the Royal Commission led to the neutering of the unions, and wages plummeted to the extent that it wasn't worth mechanising, because labour was so cheap.
He's a $%@ยฃ! ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜–

Beautiful photo Dwight  Tool Man has been buying repro Russian train drivers pocket watches (actually 'repro' is being overly kind) from fleabay, which he thinks are the Bee's Knees :D One design has what are supposed to be wolves embossed on the back, but they look more like Alsatian dogs (German Shepherd's), which is the tackiest of all, and which I have named his Gipton Special, after a notorious Leeds housing estate (project), known locally as 'Corned Beef Island', where stray Alsatians roam the streets :D

An average cutler was dead by 30, so they adopted the old pirate motto of 'A short life, but a merry one!'. Sheffield reputedly had more pubs than any other town in the kingdom, and cutlers were the biggest drinkers of all. They'd start heavy drinking on Saturday evening, continue through Sunday, Monday (Saint Monday), and possibly into Tuesday or Wednesday. Then came the 'Bull Days', when they worked round the clock to get their knives finished, and get paid, before heading straight to the pub again

Sorry to hear we have another wounded soldier Paul :( There are some strange Covid variants now. I hope you recover quickly my friend  Great pic of your Hartshead Barlow, those knives are ageing just as I hoped they would :)

Thank you, Jack. The HHB is an amazing knife. It is a pleasure using it as you intended it to be.
