Thanks for your encouraging words about reinvention, walking on water, and my Man Jack, Jack my man!

Here's one of the few strange songs of the 1960s:
Saw a really beautiful Series 70 Colt Government Model that I coveted. There were lots of overpriced knives. Couldn't buy a knife yesterday because I'm saving for a Spanish knife. Main thing I sought was a sheath for my wife's Buck 121, the Fisherman model that is no longer in production. Her knife, which belonged to her father, was made 1972-1985. Didn't even know she had it--kept it in the gun safe.
I think I have kindled an interest in knives in her. She also brought out her father's old stockman (a Kutmaster, I think) from the 1950s. He gave it to her when she was a child in the 1970s. She broke the tip of the clip blade long ago, but she asked me to clean and sharpen it. I have also bought her at least three knives this year.
Anyway, no luck with the sheath, but I found someone who can make one for me at a very reasonable price. So the trip was not wasted.
I did buy some jalapeño beef jerky, and ran into a couple of friends, so it was a good time.
Thanks for the report on the gun show and on your wife's and your shared interest in knives, Vince!

I carry a lambsfoot because. . .

Pears won’t cut themselves.
And you?

Because I can't get a whole chip butty in my mouth at once!
How 'bout you?
(I'm afraid that's an old pic, no chip butties for me today

)

How 'bout you?

That's hard Gary

as I spoke before our Suzee is on a one day at a time journey. It will be very hard to put her down I'm sure.
You'll probably know when it's time for Suzee, Dave, but it will still be hard.

At the end, we had to wake Stella to take her outside, to try to get her to eat/drink a little; basically, she had no quality of life anymore, but it was still sad to see her go (but maybe sadder and more selfish to try to keep her hanging on a little longer).
Morning all, or afternoon for some here. Frankie could not make his mind up, but I think it would of been my AC.

Frankie looks like a distinguished dog, Russell, and he's obviously completely enamored with your Ashley's Choice!

My wife made some cornbread tonight,AC sat with me while I ate it

Morning Guardians, hope everyone had a good weekend

I'm starting off the week with some ebony
Good to see that your stygian ebony lambsfoot doesn't completely suck all the fall color out of the universe, Jack!

Thank you, GT. Senator Jack is looking dapper.
...
Gooooood morning, Guardians !!!
Thanks for honoring my Man Jack, FBC.

Your two-tone horn model is breathtaking, and I especially like the way it "coordinates" with some of the vintage CA plates!

Cool pic of your Union Jack GT, is that a tie? Do you still wear your ties now that you are retired I wonder? I had a decent collection myself at one time, and wore one every day. I think it must be five years since I wore one now though, and many years since I wore one regularly. I really like the grain in the rosewood on your knife, looking forward to seeing more of it this week
I am going to carry this Needham Lambsfoot today, a kind gift from
@Campbellclanman a couple of years back. It's a really solid knife

Very nifty Needham, Jack; it does indeed look solid!

I still wear my "lucky tie" when I give tests in the only class I'm teaching this semester. Other than that, my ties have joined me in retirement. I used to typically wear ties when I went to observe student teachers in their placements in local middle and high schools, so that worked out to about 35 to 70 days of tie-wearing between Labor Day and Christmas each year, but those days are gone now. (A decade or more ago, I often wore a sport coat or even a suit on those visits, but those vestments are now gathering dust in my closet.)

I have a wee bucket of muffins this morning.

Dave, I try to ignore all the food that appears in this thread, but those little muffins are more like fuel for your high-altitude, low-temperature existence than they are like normal food!

Union Jack will be here all week:
