Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Several hours past dark here, but I couldn't resist taking a few pics of my fancy Big 'Un - made by Ashley's dad :) Think I'm going to be eating beans on toast for Christmas dinner! ;)

WOW! I'd eat chipped beef on toast for a month for that beauty :D

I have just been totting up all the giveaway entries, so far the 19th and 21st are joint favourite, with the 17th, 18th, 24th, and 29th coming second, and the 15th, 20th, 22nd, 26th, and 27th favoured least ;) Still another 5 pages before entries close though

I have another busy day tomorrow, starting off with my weekly trip to Leeds market, piano keys in pocket ;)

Very cool pins Jack!
12/31/18 ;) LOL, been away for a while.

finally...the heat of southern summer is behind me. I was perusing some pages of posts here and just had to drop a Lambsfoot into my right front pocket.

FullSizeRender.jpg

such a wonderful knife, it deserves a little bit of love :) been away for some months now, cycling has taken the front row in my time since spring. I have been riding again since May and have logged over fifteen hundred miles on my bicycles. Lost a ton of weight and feel a world better than I did six months back.

I carry a lambsfoot, because the sufganiyot were huge! :D

That's a new word for me, r8shell!:thumbsup: So the old ragtime/jazz pianist Jelly Roll Morton's real name was Sufganiyot Morton??:D

Stag Lambsfoot Overload Recently!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
...
A beautiful day today and a perfect one to carry the AC (actually every day is a perfect day for that :D).

You've already got me "pining" for my stag lambsfoot I carried last week, Dylan!

Forgot to post my Lambsfoot du jour! :D

Mkoo0VI.jpg
For some reason, this pic reminded me of your story about the carol "While Shepherds Washed Their Socks By Night". :D
Great stag, of course! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I really like that almost square center pin on your AC, Ron!:cool::thumbsup:

Stellar stag, Dave! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

... I am however going over to Sheffield tomorrow to visit A.Wright & Son, deliver their Xmas presents, and talk to them about next year ;) Taking my AC with me (along with a couple of other knives which need some minor attention)

I'm not a big fan of photos that use filters, and I don't know if this particular pic uses a filter of some kind, but I think that's a really cool pic of your AC, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

King Henry II and Thomas á Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury, let a lambsfoot come between them. Unless I am remembering my history wrong.
(That could just be a stag lambsfoot nestled between two shortbread chessmen cookies).
:D:D Great pic and post, Vince!:thumbsup::thumbsup: The quality of your stag lambsfoot goes without saying (despite my just saying/writing it )!:cool::thumbsup:

...
Good to see Lam Jack GT :)

I'm carrying my AC with me today

Another fine shot of your AC!:cool::cool: Thanks for mentioning my Lam Jack, Jack! :)

Still this one,a generous gift from@Jack Black.Does all I ask of it ,never leaves my pocket.what more is there to say.
Convincing testimonial and gorgeous knife, bonzodog bonzodog !:cool::thumbsup:

Including your own, Dwight!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Enough Stag for Now!
Thanks for the LF compliments Gary! That was a great game against the Zags! They moved up to #3. They should have beat Kansas which would have made them #1. If they can stay injury free it should be a great season!:D
:thumbsup::) I was kind of see Cuonzo Martin, a former Purdue star, let go as the Vols' coach.

Well I'll be dog! Dang if it ain't so! I use a MacBook Pro and sure enough you speak truth. (see Fred Flintstone with flat rock in lap) Cracker and Lam are looking buff. :D
Thanks, Dwight. :) If you're not "pulling my leg" about the MacBook tips, I can add that simultaneous "Command –" will shrink things and simultaneous "Command 0" will take you immediately to original/default sizing.

...Thanks my friend :) I posted the thread on December 3rd last year, December 5th in 2016, December 4th this year

I was a professional outdoor equipment reviewer (gear junkie) for years GT! :D Now, I compensate for my declining abilities with 'kit'! I used to be able to walk 40 miles with a 60ib pack, now I'm looking at shaving off as much weight from my pack as I can! :D

Definitely GT  I think my granny was in her 80's when she had the op, and it made a world of difference to her

Great pic GT

Welcome back Lam Jack! :)
...
Your first KotY thread was posted on Dec. 31, though. ;) I'm always kind of conflicted because I feel like I can't "nominate" a knife I've only had for a month (I often make a big Black Friday order that arrives in December), and am even somewhat loath to consider any knives from the second half of the year. But this makes at least half of my knives ineligible. (My problem, not a problem with your KotY rules.:D)

Your hiking gear comments make sense to me, Jack.;) I suppose I've never been a real junkie about any kind of equipment, except possibly calculators!:rolleyes:

Thanks for the info about your granny's cataracts, and for the accolades for a couple of lambsfoot pics I posted!:thumbsup:

Worth a try! I haven't seen it in my store; maybe one of the big party stores has it.
I've seen it regularly in Meijers. (I remember you once wrote that you call the store "Meijers" instead of "Meijer", or that you sometimes even call it "Thrifty's". The one at which I usually shop was the original Meijer's Thrifty Acres in Grand Rapids at the corner of 28th St. and Kalamazoo Ave. My Mom and Grandma used to go 30 miles to that store every other week when I was a kid! The ex-wife of one of my brothers was visiting from Texas one time, and mentioned in her Texas drawl that they'd be going to Mars soon; turns out it was Meijers! :D)

...
I have that patch around here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. ;)
Glad to hear that you back to ship shape!:thumbsup:
I have a feeling that your AC will be making a appearance in your Free Choice rotation. Just a hunch. :D

Lam Jack is lookin' dapper this morning.
...
;) Thanks for the Lambsfoot love, FBC. :) You might be right about the Cracker Jack showing up as a Free Choice, but a fairly big Black Friday spree delivery came in, and those knives will probably debut as Free Choice knives over the next several weeks!:rolleyes:

Gary not the kid or the pup, the Buster Brown kid and dog come from the east side of the tracks. ;);)
am.jpg
Thanks for an impressive piece of research, Dave!!:cool:;) (Kind of a scary picture, really!)

(My post is too big; splitting it into two installments.)

Very much so,I sold all but two of my uk legal folders, one my wife gave me and this one.
Wow, that seems like a drastic measure to me thinking about my current relationship with my knives!:eek: But everyone is in a different place! ;):thumbsup:

I had an interesting trip to Sheffield :) I took a large box of posh biscuits and a card for the fellers at Wright's, and a bottle of gluten-free beer for Michael, Ashley's dad and the Head Cutler, who is celiac. I had a very interesting chat with John Maleham about a couple of knives for next year, and he kindly gave me a pile of old documents I'll have to photograph later :) I always ask if he has anything interesting, and as a consequence, my wallet lost a lot of weight! :D A few of us were talking about rosewood recently, and how attractive it is. Wright's rosewood comes from Indonesia, but while searching around in the loft, John recently found some African rosewood, which is a little darker and glossier. He used it on some Lambsfoot knives, and I managed to get hold of the last few :) I also got another rather special Lambsfoot, which I'll have to photograph when the light is better

78 years ago today, Hitler's Luftwaffe virtually destroyed Sheffield city centre...

Many Sheffielders would argue that the City Council's Planning Department have been continuing the work ever since! o_O

The old Herbert Slater works now has new tenants, but it's a shame they felt a need to put modern signs up on a historic building :(

Thanks for your report on your Sheffield trip, Jack, including some history of the city!:cool::thumbsup: That rosewood model you picked up would have passed for ebony with me!:thumbsup::cool:

Carrying my 2018 knife of the year. Also, I have good news. I paid my last installment on the custom lambsfoot with Timothy LaCombre (I'm also getting a custom slip made). The new year should hold some pictures!

Looking forward to seeing that custom lambsfoot you've commissioned, Joshua!:thumbsup::thumbsup: You must be getting quite excited (and proud)! ;)

Bet you're carrying a good girl fairly regularly too, Taylor! ;):thumbsup::cool:

Rousing rosewood, Dave! The People's Choice!:thumbsup:;)

Y:eek:WZA! Jack, does this mean you'll be editing your knife of the year post?? ;)

I love beans on tortillas! But with rice, carne asada, guacamole, cheese, and salsa of course. :D
How about eggs? That would be the first thing I added to beans and toast, but I'm unfamiliar with tortilla protocols. ;)

Good for you, Duane!:thumbsup::) I've been walking a lot since Labor Day, dropped almost 10 pounds, and can confirm the "feel good" effects of exercise!:cool::thumbsup:

I will guess December 19 Jack. Thank you for the GAW. I cannot wait to see what you have up your sleeve for next year’s Guardian!
Beautiful pair of Lambsfoots, Leslie! And it's good to see the "winter version" of your familiar pond; I love the shots you take there!:cool::thumbsup:

Lam Jack takes a licking but keeps on ticking :

I raise a toast (see Forty Creek on ice) to river trails and repurposed railroad right-of-ways.
Earlier this week I took a nice ride along a reclaimed rail to trail path, that was a 26 mile ride, first ten miles in was packed stone dust, and then it turns to Tarmac. Very scenic path with long uphill grades heading north...plus side is an easy ride back to the car on the return ride :)

Good on you for the walking! Every bit helps:thumbsup: I've lost over fourty pounds and two pant sizes down :) it wasn't easy at first, but it was well worth it. Never looking back on this new chapter of my life.

@kamagong mentioned rice, carne asada, and guacamole, which are commonly eaten for lunch or dinner, but not usually for breakfast. Beans are eaten at any meal. When I say "beans," I am referring to refried pinto beans. They are not actually re-fried, but they are called "frijoles refritos" in Spanish, and someone translated it as "refried beans." A typical breakfast plate might include eggs, beans, and bacon, for example, with tortillas (flour or corn) on the side. A lunch or dinner plate might have three enchiladas (usually cheese, chicken, or beef) or maybe tamales, with rice and beans, and tortillas on the side. Tortillas are commonly used like bread. I often just fold one in half, or maybe tear it in half, and eat it with my meal, using one to sop up food perhaps. Some make a taco with the tortilla, putting meat or beans or eggs in it.

On Sunday mornings I go to a local Mexican restaurant to buy breakfast tacos for my family. I eat two of them, and one is usually beans and bacon. I may add shredded cheddar cheese at home, and ALWAYS add fresh hot sauce from the restaurant.

My mother and grandmother made homemade flour tortillas often when I was young. Nothing beats a good homemade tortilla fresh from the grill.

Anyway, that's just a little tortilla protocol primer from a south Texas boy.

Edited to add lambsfoot content; forgot which thread this was!

Morning folks, just spending a few minutes here before I have to leave :)

Hubba hubba. Va va va voom.

Shortly after the Blitz, a telescope was temporarily installed on the steps of Sheffield City Hall, a few hundred yards away. It proved popular with women steel workers and buffer girls - Vulcan being the main attraction!

...talk about a front row seat to the horror...

Even the old god must have been shocked :(
