Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Sounds like you had a nice day, Jack. Can’t go wrong with a half-price flat cap! 😁

Bob, I’m envious that you have a local chip shop that will not only sell you a chip butty, but also stocks D&B!:thumbsup:

Looks great, Jack! They definitely don’t skimp on the chips, do they? I would’ve stuffed a few more into my own chip butty, but I slightly underestimated how many I would need for three butties so I had to be a bit conservative (admittedly more so with the girls sandwiches than my own…) 🤣

While I’m far from an expert, I will say that my one criticism of the video you posted a few days ago was when the guy said to add one layer of chips. I say pile ‘em on! 😁

Mmm, vegan “fish.” 😳😵‍💫

He’s fit right in at the Leeds’ Thursday Market!

Looks tasty, Dwight! I will say I’m slightly surprised you didn’t figure out a way to make a smoked chip butty. 😉😁

That’s a pretty good idea! Five Guys has great fries, and while they might be a bit thin to really be considered chips, I bet it tasted pretty good!

They’re pretty much used to this kind of weirdness. 😁

Thanks, Jack! This is always a fun tradition!

It may not be a chip butty, but dang it looks tasty!:thumbsup:
British Food Depot carries many varieties ( on sale ).

To celebrate Yorkshire Day, I'm going with a double-lamb day. Later we'll have chip butties and watch a movie set in Yorkshire.

Here's a double-lamb pile-side shot.

Fine pair of knives 👍👍
Indeed 😁
At the chip shop for lunch.
Looks like a great place for a chip butty! 😋👍🤠
I was the very first customer at Mr Chippy, close to York's old Shambles market. I was surprised to be greeted by name, and figured I must know the Head Fryer from somewhere else. When his assistant turned out to also be called Jack, it made more sense, as I don't think he could see over the fryer! :D The chips were the first out of the fat (beef dripping), and delicious 😋

I neglected to take a photo of the establishment, so have filched this one online (I was sat to the right of the entrance)

Looks very tasty 😋
Just finished lunch. I improvised and used hot dog buns for bread. I must say they were really good. I think malt vinegar really makes the difference !

Looks tasty 👍🤠
You know what they say, the family that eats chip butties together… 😁

I made my chips in the same way that I have the last couple years, like British roast potatoes (“roasties”). They always turn out great, but I will say, it’s a lot of work/time for something that I end up scarfing down so quickly. 🤣

I did switch it up with the bread this year, opting for thick sliced (but still inexpensive) white bread instead of a bun. It was great, possibly the best chip butty I’ve made! (Using more butter than I had in previous years probably didn’t hurt, either.) 😁

I was tempted to overpay for another Dandelion & Burdock off Amazon like I did last year, but even Amazon didn’t have them this year, so I went with a Mexican Coke. Just like they do in Yorkshire… 🧐🤣

The girls both loved their chip butties! Scout had a bit of trouble keeping hers together, but they both ate the whole thing.

Happy Yorkshire Day, Guardians! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Well done 👍🤠
Happy Yorkshire Day!

I had to improvise a bit 😬. Accuse me not of suffering the Dunning-Kruger effect as I'm entirely aware that I know nothing about chip butties and am certain that rather than improving the formula, I'm merely performing a ham-fisted culinary tragi-comedy!

Without further ado...

I had to do this clandestinely while my GF was teaching an online anger management class to a bunch of people ordered by the court to attend. She has a thing against me eating bread and while she may be an anger management coach, she generally uses none of the skills she teaches others in her dealings with me. I'm just lucky I guess. 🤔

Once her class started, I grabbed my ingredients and some surly Sheffield lads (and a few well-to-do Americans who were laying around) to help with the heavy lifting!

I don't have deep-frying capabilities, and it's hard to shallow fry thick-cut potatoes so I decided to go with what I know - hash browns. They're fried potatoes, just crispier. I'm always okay with crispier, so I went with it. I shredded a potato on a box grater:

And added them to a hot pan with oil:

While the potatoes were crisping, I toasted a hot dog bun (only white bread in the house... remember - mildly frightening anti-bread GF) and slathered it in organic grass-fed butter.

After the gratuitous buttering, I drained my "chips," assembled the sandwich, and hit the whole thing with a splash of vinegar and a sprinkle of grey Celtic salt. I poured myself a cup of "Proper Strong" Yorkshire Tea (instead of "Proper Strong," the American packaging says "Let's have a proper brew!") and dug in!

Halfway through, I realized I should have made two of them! Good eatin'!

P.S. - About halfway through the process, my GF stuck her head out of the room and hollered "What are you cooking??" I replied "Just some hash browns, honey - want some?" 😂😂😂
Looks delish👍🤠

Very cool that you shared the fun with the family, it would have been a dream to get a chip butty when I was a kid. 🤤
When I was in my early to mid teens, during the skool holidays, me and my mates would be down atthe 'Two Steps' chippy every day for a chip butty! :D

I also had a beef sarnie.View attachment 2625173
Nice! :D

Yeah, it made a nice change Barrett :) Those caps are over £40 now, so I thought I'd grab a spare! :D ;)

Thanks mate :) Yeah, what was that bloke on about, one layer of chips?! The rule is, you cram as many in as you cam! :D Usually, when you get one in a chip shop, there's about 3 times as many chips as you could get on a butty. The trick is to eat just the right amount, and cram as many into the butty as you can, without it collapsing or falling apart! 🤣 👍
Mmm, vegan “fish.” 😳😵‍💫
I think I tried it when I was doing my 'Mad Lent' the other year! :D I can't really remember what it was like! :D
He’s fit right in at the Leeds’ Thursday Market!
Definitely! :D

I'll post the REAL fancy-dress tomorrow! :D

😊

I thought Barrett would have been all over that film reference! :D
I enjoy the occassional visit.
Sadly, the full English breakfast is only on weekends.
My wife had bangers and mash.
Someone next to us ordered bubble and squeak.🥴
Sounds fantastic 😋 Me and my Ex once got a train to London, had breakfast in a favourite cafe, and got the train back (about 6 hours of travelling)! :D
All these chip Butty's for Yorkie Day look fantastic. Unfortunately my larder is empty and the last thing i feel like is a chip butty, so i will stick to admiring all the Guardians work. 😋 😋 😋 😋🥰
Hope you're feeling yourself again soon Leon ;) Good to see you here mate

Happy Yorkshire Day. I enjoyed my chip butty. I started with Potato Buns.
IMG_5037.jpeg

Then I buttered them up with the Kerry Gold. I should have put way more butter on.
IMG_5036.jpeg

When the tots were cooked up I sorted them for size, color and crispiness. Only the best tots for a butty.
IMG_5038.jpeg

Then I add the tots to the Potato Buns. You must stack them just so. Luckily I watch Engineering Disasters on the TV so that was easy for me.

Delicious…I kinda wanted a deep fried Cadbury Egg for dessert but it messed up my air fryer.

What cool place for a chip butty 😎👍🤠
I'm glad it's still thriving today :)

Wonderful rendition Kurt 👍🏻..and a beauty of a lamb....not an engineering disaster.😁

I'm just glad Jack does not have a haggis day.😵‍💫 Thank the lord it's Scottish.
LOL! :D I'd suggest a Yorkshire Pudding competition, but that's a hard one :D

Thanks again for helping me celebrate Yorkshire Day Guardians, I hope it was fun :) I'll try to post up some pics tomorrow, and announce the winner of the Chip Butty Challenge of course :D Still 45 minutes of Yorkshire Day left, but I'm off to hit the hay ;)

This guy’s Instagram account is another that regularly shows up in my feed. The algorithm must have me flagged for “enjoys sandwich content.” 🤣

I do enjoy his posts, so I decided to see if he had tried a chip butty at some point. (Fair warning, Jack, he does try to improve on it at the end — something he does in most of his videos — but at least he gives the original a go first.)

Fantastic that you can still visit that place today and relive your childhood memories! 😁

Your butty and lambs look decidedly delicious, but this part:

air fryer.

alarms me a little bit. 🤣
