Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Are the chips cooked in different oil?? It took years for people to realize the beef fat content at MickeyD's!!! 😂 😂😂
Yeah, they must have a smaller fryer or something Charlie. It's rare, but I've come across one or two other places like that. There's a fish and chip shop near the bottom of my street. The chips have been absolutely terrible for all the time I've lived here, but historically, it was a Jewish business, and so cooked in vegetable oil. It was reputed to have the best fish and chips in Leeds. Similarly, the best chippy I know of, in Sheffield, has used vegetable oil since I was a kid. I guess there's sometimes more to it. I once knew a chap who ran a course at a local college, specifically teaching people how to fry fish and chips.

Another bloke I used to know built and restored canal boats at a bit of a hippy town, called Hebden Bridge, (I've written about it before). A lot of his customers, and his friends, were vegetarians, and he'd often take them to a local fish and chip shop, where he assured them everything was cooked in oil. One time, he was with a couple of people, and one of them asked if something on the menu was vegan. The proprietor told him it was, but then added, "It doesn't really matter though mate, because everything is cooked in beef fat!" :D

Just finished lunch. I improvised and used hot dog buns for bread. I must say they were really good. I think malt vinegar really makes the difference !

They look good Steve :) I like the way the bottle says 'Fish & Chip Vinegar' :)

Beautifully intense
Cool covers !
Wow, cool pic Dwight
Thanks my friends!
Happy Yorkshire Day! 🥳

I celebrated last night with a chip butty! Being my first one, I wanted to try the classic version with potatoes, bread, butter, vinegar, and salt. The potatoes came out of my neighbor's ground last week so they were super fresh. :) Bread came from Walmart, fresh baked yesterday Italian loaf that I sliced thick. I gotta say, the vinegar and salt on the fries... err, I mean chips... made them taste like candy. I'll have to do that more often. 🤤

Results were fantastic! 😁 I'll definitely be making these again, even if only on August 1st of every year. My wife's birthday is August 8 and we always get something she wants, baby back ribs usually. We joke about it being her b-day week so this will be my way of starting those festivities out. She is a picky eater btw, and she ate all of her chip butty! I ate two of them. 🤣

Hopefully you two will be reunited soon! :D
Happy Yorkshire Day Dwight, that might be the best of them all
Yes and you of course sent it to me when you could have kept it as numero uno. But you are the "serial giver"! 🙏
:D
Lionhearted HHB
Another excellent name.

I am really looking forward to it Dwight :)

LOL! :D I did the same with all my runs, it didn't seem fair to do otherwise, and I'm very happy with the ones I have :)

I thought of you today when I saw some coins on sale in York antique shops. The prices were unbelievable, for older British coins which are neither rare, nor in good condition. That is true of everything on sale in those shops though, absolutely crazy 'tourist prices'. It is the same with the knives, and there are plenty of fakes, junk, and repro across all interests

Okay, I pulled the tater from the tater bin, peeled it and sliced long thick steak size "chips". Fried em in a deep fryer to a golden brown and covered em in kosher salt while they were still hot and wet with cooking oil. Laid a thick slice of crafted white bread and covered it with the salty chips. After that I covered the chips with a few good size dollops of real butter and capped it off with another slice of bread. Plated this masterpiece and garnished it with proper breakfast sides of eggs and extra hot homemade sausage. It's fit to eat Jack. 😁

Another great version Dwight.

Happy Yorkshire Day! Much like last year, I confused the daylights out of my local Five Guys burger place by asking for fries and a plain bun. They serve malt vinegar there so at least there’s that. Anyways, I got my weird looks from the crew and walked out with the makings of a chip butty. One day I’d like to try an authentic one but for now, this is pretty good.

Cut in half for “presentation” with a lambfoot knife of course!

Fantastic! :D Cool pics too :) I once got a chip butty made up in a small neighbourhood place in Barcelona. I got weird looks too, by the end of the week everybody was eating them! 🤣👍
Looks delicious David :)

You know what they say, the family that eats chip butties together… 😁

I made my chips in the same way that I have the last couple years, like British roast potatoes (“roasties”). They always turn out great, but I will say, it’s a lot of work/time for something that I end up scarfing down so quickly. 🤣

I did switch it up with the bread this year, opting for thick sliced (but still inexpensive) white bread instead of a bun. It was great, possibly the best chip butty I’ve made! (Using more butter than I had in previous years probably didn’t hurt, either.) 😁

I was tempted to overpay for another Dandelion & Burdock off Amazon like I did last year, but even Amazon didn’t have them this year, so I went with a Mexican Coke. Just like they do in Yorkshire… 🧐🤣

The girls both loved their chip butties! Scout had a bit of trouble keeping hers together, but they both ate the whole thing.

Happy Yorkshire Day, Guardians! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
