Thank you for this Jack, it sure does look similar. I'm looking forward to my first Albers Lambsfoot, but it seems I may have be scammed. I paid for it on the exchange, with PayPal FF, and he promised to ship it, but has not done so, and is not responding. It also looks like he may have sold it to someone else before me. Any ideas what I can do?Glad to hear you're in good health, and as insightful as ever Jer![]()
Thanks Steve, it was fun, and fortunately, I avoided a hangover!![]()
Good for you Bill![]()

Thank you, he must have had a fascinating life, and I bet folks were intrigued by the unusual knife he carried - as I am!In terms of the way that knives are dated, I'm afraid that there really is very little to go on here, because Sheffield knives were often made in the same way (by one cutler or another, for generations), and the hafting materials were usually bought in. Here's a James Howarth Lambsfoot, with similar covers, from the 1950's, for example. Often, it's the quality of manufacture that assists in dating, but Lambsfoot knives were simple, rough and ready knives, a bit like Barlows. It's a broad guess, but I'm going to suggest 1930's (1930-1939) for your grandfather's knife. Sorry I can't be more helpful
That cauliflower cheese has patinaed that beauty nicely Bob!![]()

Great to see it Steve, there are a few treasures I need to dig out![]()

Thanks, I'll try that.No lectures from me, but perhaps a fraud claim with card you used?

My Grail knifeA very special day. @glennbad did his famous stag on this 93 Charlie lamb. Exactly how I envisioned it would be fit close to the liners and nice and slim cut stag. I think @waynorth would agree that this knife is wonderful. If it would have had original covers on it I would not have dared to change it.
This sucker is going straight into my pocket!!! Thank you, Glenn. Honored to have a knife that two masters had a hand in.

Thanks a lot Jer, it's been the hottest day of the year here, apparently, but it has mainly been overcast and sticky. It"s always a treat to see that oneAnd the world looks just the same, and history ain't changed,
Except for vicious thugs going to jail.
I also am glad it's quieted down.
It's warming up a bit here, weather-wise.

Many thanks Steve, me tooI sure hope that's the end of the unrest over there and things can get back to a more normal state for you and everyone else.
Great pic of your HHB on your bunnet !![]()
Thank you very much Jeff, we were doing OK, until I got back home, and there was a pile of work waiting for me!Jack, I hope that you and HHB have a restful and recuperative day. Beni is doing double duty for me both at home and later at work.

That's a lovely photo Todd, glad to have you backGood morning Guardians! Got back yesterday from a family boating vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks. I always get stressed out when pulling a boat long distance. Happy to report my 1998 Suburban made another successful journey!
Not chilly enough for a real fire but just right for a gas one. Have a great day everyone.

Nice way to start!
Wonderful photo!
That's a sweet one Steve
Thanks pal, it was going well until about 2.00pm!Nice pic, Jack. I hope you have a relaxing week my friend!
Sounds like a fantastic time Barrett (lack of Lambsfoot aside)I hope all you Guardians had a good weekend. Ours was busy but fun. On Friday we went to a Twins game, where, coincidentally, they were playing the Cleveland Guardians.
![]()
While we were at the baseball game, Julie got a text from a coworker saying they couldn’t use their tickets to the Vikings preseason game the next day, and asking if we would like them. So, on Saturday, we headed back downtown for the Vikings game.

The tickets actually came with access to one of the stadiums all-inclusive clubs, so there was all kinds of free food — burgers, nachos, buffalo chicken tenders, soft pretzels, loaded potato skins, some sort of fancy sushi-looking thing — and free beer, too! Not just the cheap macro stuff, but good beer! Needless to say, we had a good time.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a Lambsfoot with me for either of these events. They will let you into Target Field with a pocket knife, but sometimes it’s just easier to leave it in the car; at least once I’ve had to show the security guard working the entry the policy on their own website.Knives are strictly prohibited at the Vikings games.
After our busy Friday and Saturday, we had a pretty relaxing Sunday. Picked up groceries for the week, got some stuff done at the house. It was a good day.
Love that pic! When I wasn’t at a sporting event, I had my Katalox Albers in my pocket for the weekend.

All the best Jack!!

You're very welcome my friend, I'm sorry I couldn't be of any further help. It's always frustrating when a knife doesn't have a maker's mark. I'd be grateful if you'd go to the start of this thread, and read the first post, because this is definitely not something we discuss here in this threadThank you for this Jack, it sure does look similar. I'm looking forward to my first Albers Lambsfoot, but it seems I may have be scammed. Looking good Pat
Thank you DylanDwight, David, Steve, Jack, and Barrett - thank you all for the kind compliments. I like all of Jack's SFOs but this one in Ebony is pretty excellent. They used some nice wood on these, though I suspect Jack's watchful eye had more to do with that.
Thank you for the thorough recommendation my friendRegarding the Wee Beastie: I highly recommend it and it's become a favorite as well. It is almost criminal that such a young single malt has such excellent depth. I also like that it is usually pretty available and isn't too expensive a dram either. For an Islay lover, this is an excellent regular option to have on hand.
Continuing with the Ebony today.

Very sorry to hear this sort of thing is going onI’m afraid that you probably did get scammed. Not by the person selling the Albers on the exchange, but by a scammer who saw you post that you were interested in that knife, searched your posts, found that you had publicly posted you email address somewhere on the forum, and contacted you pretending to be the person selling the knife.
I was able to find your publicly posted email myself with just a quick search.
![]()
Anyways, this really isn’t the place to discuss this sort of thing, but I will take the opportunity to remind my fellow Guardians to do a search and make sure your email isn’t posted anywhere publicly on here. I was surprised to find my own (posted in a slightly more cryptic fashion but still out there) on some sales posts that were several years old, long before this type of scam became a problem here.
Not a bad idea!Sounds like a good time, Todd. I’m glad you, your truck and your boat made it back in one piece!A Lambsfoot, a cigar and a fire to sit beside, what more could a guy ask for? An adult beverage, I suppose, but maybe it’s a little early in the day for that. Then again, you are retired now…
