Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

The excitement doesnโ€™t end here in the Guardians thread! (Well, ok, this partโ€™s mostly just exciting for me, but stillโ€ฆ)

Today I received a package from Jack Black Jack Black โ€” my winnings from the Yorkshire Day Chip Butty GAW! As always, Jack put together a great package! In addition to the TEW Yorkshire Lambsfoot, there was an awesome Hendersonโ€™s Relish hat ๐Ÿ˜, an interesting old book on Yorkshire Legends and Folk Lore, a pin, keychain, postcard, sticker, map and lots of chocolates!

Thank you, Jack! I really appreciate it!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Congratulations mate,
Cool package lamb & chocolate, you use the lamb to open the chocolate ๐Ÿ˜‰
Glad you're doing OK Taylor :) I have to say, it's been a strange year for me, in lots of ways, but I'm OK, and this thread is ON FIRE! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ:D:thumbsup:

I know what you mean Rachel, I'm sure I couldn't tell the difference, I don't think I've tasted a Jammie Dodger since I was about 7! :D

I'd already forgotten about Yorkshire Day! :D I haven't even edited my photos yet! I'm glad everything arrived mate, I have to say, I am quite jealous of the hat! ๐Ÿคฃ The Club biscuits are something mitch13 mitch13 was talking about the other week :D

Thanks Bob, if I remember correctly, this might be TWICE Barrett has won the Chip Butty Challenge :)

Thank you Dylan :)

Have a great day Leon :)
The Mint 1s were good I'll keep an eye out for orange ๐Ÿ˜€

Wish it was Friday. Flashback to one of my favorite Knives and an โ€œokโ€ beer.

Nice HHB !

Looks like it dripped off of your handles onto your thumbnail ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

Not an entry Jack Jack Black Jack Black but wanted to show what was my first Lambsfoot.

This was my first Lambsfoot knife and the first post I made in the Guardians Thread (Page 1357)

This A. Wright just in from Snowdonia, Wales U.K.. @Jack Black may know them. This is a Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers. It is a small knife at 3 3/8" long with a 2 5/8" long blade. The covers are very nice with multiple colors throughout them. Here are my normal pictures on a board but the covers are so nice and translucent, I took a couple shots outside. Some of you may recognize my old photograph backstop with the rock and cinder block.

Note that the pattern in the pressure treated board is reflected in the blade in the last picture.

Sweet horn and cool pics Ed !

Boy was I was excited to open my package from Barrett. Good thing I didnโ€™t cut myself.

A big thanks to Barrett, Eric and Jack too. Dylan said it better than I ever could. My GL-24 will always be a special knife. It looks just perfect. I canโ€™t wait to carry it on my walk tomorrow morning along the cliffs overlooking the bay.

You have got a nice one with some of the scattered brown. Nice.

I think I had over 20 pages to catch up on here. I think Duncan mentioned this already but this thread moves pretty darned fast and it can be difficult to keep up with. A lot can happen in 20 pages and this time is no exception; multiple giveaways, milestones, a Guardians SFO, and of course, a lot of tremendous knives.

This thread is like comfort food though. Whenever the wanderlust takes me and I'm off either looking at different corners of the forums or just preoccupied with life, this thread is always a pleasure to come back to. My first post in this thread was #1102 on page 56 over 7 years ago. We are now on page 5019 (while I write this post anyway) and that is just an incredible thing to think about. Like many of you here, I have also been the recipient of Jack's legendary generosity. Among others, some no long with us unfortunately, Jack embodies the sense of community that this forum offers and I am happy to call him a friend.

My initial instinct was to decline to enter Jack's giveaway here but after some pondering, I think I will throw my name in the hat. The lad I would like to nominate hasn't posted here in awhile so I cannot nominate him per the rules. However, should I have my name drawn, I will be seeking to repay the kindness this fellow showed me several years ago.

My first Lambsfoot is Rosie, gifted to me by @flatblackcapo. She doesn't get much pocket time these days but she is still in fine form.

Moving on to a special parcel that I found on my doorstep this morning. I was delighted when Barrett reached out to me last week regarding the fruition of his SFO with Eric Albers. Quite frankly, it made my week and likely my month. I am getting ready to help my son move into his college dorm for his freshman year and it's safe to say that this month has been filled with excitement and more than a little trepidation (he will be over 6 hours away). This Guardians SFO eased my mind a bit with its very pleasant distraction. Barrett and Eric did a terrific job with this and it's safe to say that this knife will be cherished (as all my Guardians SFOs are) and it will be getting carried a lot. The GL-24 stamp is just icing on the cake.

Well done, Barrett and Eric, and thank you so much, Barrett, for helming this project and getting us an unexpected, yet memorable, Guardians SFO.

That's a beauty, congrats !

Sounds even easier!! ๐Ÿ˜‚
Yeah, but they're a funny lot up there Charlie! :D ;)

I still haven't seen the mint ones, in a while, here Mitch, but the only time I ever buy chocolate is for Barrett and one or two other folks)! :D
Beautiful pics Steve :)
Phenomenal!!! Another lucky GL-24 owner...posing next to the ever-present EDC...

Fantastic Ken, congratulations :)

Everything about that package is pretty excellent, Barrett, but that book is the winner for me. Terrific care package from Jack.

The book is definitely interesting, Dylan. Not exactly sure how old it is because thereโ€™s no copyright page, but thereโ€™s a preface dated 1931. As an added bonus, it has that wonderful old book smell you get in a good used book store. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd already forgotten about Yorkshire Day! :D I haven't even edited my photos yet!

Seems like that was ages ago the way this threadโ€™s going lately. ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks again, Jack. I tried one of the Club biscuits, itโ€™s quite good! Iโ€™m a big fan of Terryโ€™s Chocolate Orange, and this was similar, but with a biscuit in the middle.

Thanks Bob, if I remember correctly, this might be TWICE Barrett has won the Chip Butty Challenge :)

Is it?! ๐Ÿ˜ณ I should probably sit out next year!

Just the GAW, that is. Iโ€™m not skipping the chip butty. ๐Ÿ˜

Glad you like the knife, Dylan! Great pics! Sending your son off to college is the like the parenting equivalent of hitting 5,000 pages! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ Seriously, congrats.:thumbsup:

My "elevator micarta" Lamb just hit my US mailbox!! (I get an email!)
I will head down there to pick it up in the A.M!!!!! Can't wait!!๐Ÿ›—

Thatโ€™s great, Charlie! I had wondered how far it was for you to get over the border to your US mailbox. Sounds like itโ€™s not too bad a trip.

Iโ€™m happy yours made it, Ken. Enjoy!

They are much older than the Terry's Chocolate Orange mate. When I started school, (before Margaret Thatcher), each child got a free 1/3 pint of milk, and if your mom gave you a penny, you could also buy a Club biscuit, or a Goblin biscuit, (which disappeared more than 55 years ago)

I may be completely wrong about that Barrett, you won fair and square buddy! :D

I haven't done any research, but it has to be one of the fast-moving threads on BF, I would have thought Dylan :)
Jack, the pace of this thread has occasionally been a topic of discussion, and I always find such discussions interesting (although I find the pace itself intimidating ).

I used the Search function to fairly quickly come up with a couple of interesting data items regarding pace of the thread.
Post 1 was on June 26, 2016.
Post 50000 was on June 15, 2021, days short of 5 years later.
Post 100000 was on August 15, 2024, 3 years and 2 months later than the 50K-post milestone.
So the second 50K posts came roughly 40% faster than did the first 50K posts.

Here's a link to an old post with more details on the pace of this thread:

Got a package from the mailman a few minutes ago.

image000002.jpg

And I'm impressed with all the contents. My wife, who is an excellent designer, commented on how cool the package was (and she was particularly charmed by the chip butty sticker). She like how the Albers was bagged and boxed, too.

image000000-20.jpg

This is a stunning knife. It is a great design and I love the materials, and the execution is as good or better than any other knife I've ever held. This is masterfully made. I'm extremely impressed. Albers gets a lot of hype, but honestly, it's the hype that doesn't live up to the knife - I don't have enough superlatives to accurately convey the excellence here.

Thanks to btb01 btb01 for masterminding this project, to Jack Black Jack Black for signing off on it, and to ea42 ea42 for realizing it so beautifully. This will be carried a lot!
