Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Got a package from the mailman a few minutes ago.

image000002.jpg

And I'm impressed with all the contents. My wife, who is an excellent designer, commented on how cool the package was (and she was particularly charmed by the chip butty sticker). She like how the Albers was bagged and boxed, too.

This is a stunning knife. It is a great design and I love the materials, and the execution is as good or better than any other knife I've ever held. This is masterfully made. I'm extremely impressed. Albers gets a lot of hype, but honestly, it's the hype that doesn't live up to the knife - I don't have enough superlatives to accurately convey the excellence here.

Thanks to btb01 btb01 for masterminding this project, to Jack Black Jack Black for signing off on it, and to @ea42 for realizing it so beautifully. This will be carried a lot!
Gorgeous piece my friend! Thats a knife to cherish.

Phenomenal!!! Another lucky GL-24 owner...posing next to the ever-present EDC...

One of my favorite parts of previous Guardians SFOs was the group pics Jack would take of all the knives together. I posted one that I took of the 2024 Guardians knives in my post the other day, but now that the knives are arriving at their destinations and you guys are sharing your great pics of them here, I can initiate Step 2 of the Guardians SFO group pic tradition: finding members’ knives in the group pic!

Here’s an example from the 2019 Ironwood Guardians knives:

And here’s the blank photo I started off with for this years:

I went ahead and identified what I could so far based on the pics that y’all have posted, but if you could, please check the blank photo above to make sure I got yours right, especially if your knife doesn’t have any dark spots on the front. There does seem to be enough variation in the texture and grain of the micarta to be able to identify these, but I had to look pretty closely in some cases, and it may be easier for you do with your knife in hand.

Sweet stag !
Gracias amigo mio.
More Lamby loveliness Dwight!
Thanks buddy.
Another ace Pete!
I wonder if anyone will get close
Yes Jack. I guessed the EXACT number of beans.
😁:);)
The excitement doesn’t end here in the Guardians thread! (Well, ok, this part’s mostly just exciting for me, but still…)

Today I received a package from Jack Black Jack Black — my winnings from the Yorkshire Day Chip Butty GAW! As always, Jack put together a great package! In addition to the TEW Yorkshire Lambsfoot, there was an awesome Henderson’s Relish hat 😁, an interesting old book on Yorkshire Legends and Folk Lore, a pin, keychain, postcard, sticker, map and lots of chocolates!

Thank you, Jack! I really appreciate it!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
The book is the winner!
I think I had over 20 pages to catch up on here. I think Duncan mentioned this already but this thread moves pretty darned fast and it can be difficult to keep up with. A lot can happen in 20 pages and this time is no exception; multiple giveaways, milestones, a Guardians SFO, and of course, a lot of tremendous knives.

This thread is like comfort food though. Whenever the wanderlust takes me and I'm off either looking at different corners of the forums or just preoccupied with life, this thread is always a pleasure to come back to. My first post in this thread was #1102 on page 56 over 7 years ago. We are now on page 5019 (while I write this post anyway) and that is just an incredible thing to think about. Like many of you here, I have also been the recipient of Jack's legendary generosity. Among others, some no long with us unfortunately, Jack embodies the sense of community that this forum offers and I am happy to call him a friend.

My initial instinct was to decline to enter Jack's giveaway here but after some pondering, I think I will throw my name in the hat. The lad I would like to nominate hasn't posted here in awhile so I cannot nominate him per the rules. However, should I have my name drawn, I will be seeking to repay the kindness this fellow showed me several years ago.

My first Lambsfoot is Rosie, gifted to me by @flatblackcapo. She doesn't get much pocket time these days but she is still in fine form.

Moving on to a special parcel that I found on my doorstep this morning. I was delighted when Barrett reached out to me last week regarding the fruition of his SFO with Eric Albers. Quite frankly, it made my week and likely my month. I am getting ready to help my son move into his college dorm for his freshman year and it's safe to say that this month has been filled with excitement and more than a little trepidation (he will be over 6 hours away). This Guardians SFO eased my mind a bit with its very pleasant distraction. Barrett and Eric did a terrific job with this and it's safe to say that this knife will be cherished (as all my Guardians SFOs are) and it will be getting carried a lot. The GL-24 stamp is just icing on the cake.

Well done, Barrett and Eric, and thank you so much, Barrett, for helming this project and getting us an unexpected, yet memorable, Guardians SFO.

Wonderful post Dylan, as always.
Great stuff (and a wonderful pic) :) It is always a pleasure when Kevin calls in  I'm pretty sure this story has been told here before, so I hope Kevin won't mind me telling it again :) Originally, I had not planned to start a Guardians THREAD, I had planned to start a Guardians GROUP. This was a feature BF had at one time, which allowed members to set up a small mini sub-forum, but it was summarily scrapped long ago. When the thread first started, I used to get PMs from people, often guys I didn't even know, asking me if I could go over to Sheffield, and get them a Lambsfoot. This was no small task, involving my taking a day off of work, 4 bus journeys, and 2 train journeys, and I gave 90% of the Lambs away. Eventually, I realised that I could go straight to the factory, which is not far from the Sheffield train station, and save a bit of time, and by buying a lot of knives, I didn't have to go so often, and would get them a bit cheaper. This went on for a while, and I'd let a few folks know what I'd been able to pick up in Sheffield. One time, I sent out a list, with photos, and I got a reply from Kevin, saying "I'll take all of them!". I sent him a reply saying, "All of them? Are you sure?" And not hearing back from him, I parcelled them up, and shipped them across The Pond. Well, it turned out Kevin had been joking! We worked it out though
And then there was the time you embarked on... what was it? - "The Wizard's Quest" ? or something like that for our buddy "down under". That was quite an adventure!
Boy was I was excited to open my package from Barrett. Good thing I didn’t cut myself.

A big thanks to Barrett, Eric and Jack too. Dylan said it better than I ever could. My GL-24 will always be a special knife. It looks just perfect. I can’t wait to carry it on my walk tomorrow morning along the cliffs overlooking the bay.

I swear this is some of the most beautiful micarta I've ever seen. Barrett, you and Eric out did yourselves!

Superb!! Some " elevator music" for the ride?😁

Has to be Polish elevator music, though, whatever that sounds like. 😁

They are much older than the Terry's Chocolate Orange mate. When I started school, (before Margaret Thatcher), each child got a free 1/3 pint of milk, and if your mom gave you a penny, you could also buy a Club biscuit, or a Goblin biscuit, (which disappeared more than 55 years ago)

Interesting, Jack. I was under the impression that the chocolate orange had been around for a while, too. I like the crisipness you get with the Club, and I think the mint version mitch13 mitch13 mentioned sounds pretty good, too.

I may be completely wrong about that Barrett, you won fair and square buddy! :D

You’re probably right, Jack. I have won a few of your giveaways over the years, I just can’t remember which ones off the top of my head. 😁 (I would go back and look, but I just spent what felt like 30 minutes looking for one of the old Guardians knife group pics with the names on it, and I need a break from searching through this thread.) 🤣

Got a package from the mailman a few minutes ago.

I’m glad you like it, Tyson! And I’m glad your wife liked the package and its accoutrements. 😁

I have to admit, the chip butty sticker was the easier of the two. I think that’s the first image that pops up when you google “chip butty” (which just happened to be exactly like what I had in mind). All I did was remove the background. 🤣

The other sticker was a collaborative effort between myself and my sister-in-law, who is a graphic designer. I tried it on my own first, but I just couldn’t get it quite right, so I asked her to help me out. She put together her own version, which looked good, but the font wasn’t quite right, so I found a font that worked better and redid that bit (along with an few other small changes).

Very funny Pete! 🤣👍
Not an entry Jack Jack Black Jack Black but wanted to show what was my first Lambsfoot.

This was my first Lambsfoot knife and the first post I made in the Guardians Thread (Page 1357)

This A. Wright just in from Snowdonia, Wales U.K.. @Jack Black may know them. This is a Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers. It is a small knife at 3 3/8" long with a 2 5/8" long blade. The covers are very nice with multiple colors throughout them. Here are my normal pictures on a board but the covers are so nice and translucent, I took a couple shots outside. Some of you may recognize my old photograph backstop with the rock and cinder block.

Note that the pattern in the pressure treated board is reflected in the blade in the last picture.
Beautiful knife Ed, especially love that last photo. 😎👍
