Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

32516497498_80b5c21bd5_h.jpg

I had this Guardian's Lambsfoot with me yesterday to celebrate the 500 page mile stone. Keep it up Guardians, that is half way to 1000!
A black beauty, for sure.

Morning folks :) I think I might have to split my reply :D

If I had painful feet, I fear I'd think twice before walking. :( Amusing story about your stick men. :D:cool:
Thanks for remarking on my lambsfoot for this week, Jack. :)

I must have spent most of my life walking GT, always done a lot of it. I reckon me and Barrett must have covered a good few miles yesterday, and my feet sure do ache today!

+5K to what John posted!:cool::thumbsup: It's like a quincentennial celebration, except with pages instead of years as the unit of measurement!!! :D

:D

Jack, the fireworks image with which you opened your next to last post quoted here is what I'm reminded of when I see the mark side of your Guardians "Urjack"!:cool::thumbsup:;) And can you elaborate on that new Guardians "banner" with the extra image/text at the bottom, and I think a different lambsfoot knife image??

Thanks my friend :) The banner was something I was playing around with the other week, just seemed appropriate to throw it in there, needs some work I think

What a totally stunning rogues' gallery of Lambsfoot knives you've honored us with as part of the 500-page milestone festivities, Jack!!:eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks again Gary :)

Fantastic that you and Barrett can spend some time together on Guardians Patrol, Jack! I'm sure a good time will be had by all (mixed in with a little envy for some of us ).:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

It certainly was GT, were your ears burning? :D ;)

Man, that Albino lights up the dark forest, Jack! Impressive carry!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Man Jack for me this week, and, fittingly for this day of celebration, it was my first lambsfoot. Here's a pic from when it first arrived back in September 2015:

Thanks pal, and it's great to see your Man Jack :)

Well please tell Barrett that there are likely some rather envious folks over here, not the least of which being myself :D. But yes, eat, drink, be merry. That's what I would do.

...

Seem to have encountered a glitch here, I've tried editing this post three times to get rid of the last [ /QUOTE] box, but it doesn't want to go!!

Encountered a software glitch in my last post, and I've also lost all my saved quotes! o_O

GT thank you for you're commentary, without it, the forums would have a little less finish. I am sure that I am not the only one that appreciates the work you put into your illuminating of the posts.:thumbsup::D

Cheers Taylor :)

So tonight I spent a little time CF'ing and chicken eye'in my four A Wright Lambsfoots...nice pieces of kit, each and every one, and all unique in character. these knives have soul, something about them is timeless...I could well get on for many a year with no other pocket knife but any one of my specimens. just thought to take a moment and thank Mr. Jack Black for introducing me and all a Y'all to this magnificent pattern! You, good sir, are a valiant Champion, of all things Lambsfoot. One of the main reasons BF has held my interest through the years is the wealth of discovering knives I had no previous exposure to or knowledge of. The Lambsfoot was a most pleasant and welcome discovery...

Thank you very much Duane, that's very kind :)

I have to agree with you, the Lambsfoot was the one and only knife, that has stopped my incessant looking for the perfect knife.:)

GREAT post Dave! :D :)

Make that three that could get by with just a lambsfoot.

I am so pleased that so many of you are enjoying the pattern. My granddad gave me my first Lambsfoot as a boy, and I remember thinking 'What's this?!' It seemed a strange-looking thing, I wanted something that looked more like a folding Bowie knife! I have come to love the Lambsfoot pattern more and more over the years though :)

Congrats to the winner and thanks to the giver.
I'll have to look up the etymology of Wellington boots. I have a hard time picturing the iron duke wearing a pair of them.
Re-using this picture because it ain't bad, by my standards.

Thanks Jer :) Yeah, can't really seeing him standing there with the tops turned down like he's on a building site! :D

Beautiful pic Dwight :)

Vince inspired me to try my hand at a lambsfoot haiku.:cool::cool: (But he is in no way responsible for any shortcomings of my effort. ;))

Tapered, tang to tip.
Straight edge, with a swayback grip.
Make mine a lambsfoot!

I need to update my family photo to include my Cracker Jack.

Enjoying the haikus guys :) Great family pic GT :)

I see mine in the pile. It is right under Ron’s. I can tell by the deep furrow down the middle of the handle.View attachment 1040913

Jack Black Jack Black my AC is under the blade of yours betwix the tang stamp and nail nick in the group photo.

My lambsfoot and I
Went to the kitchen for pie
Alas, there was none

Me and my lambsfoot
Strolling down the avenue
Out to get a pint

Well spotted gents  Love the haikus Jody! :D

Congratulations to all of the Guardians on 500 pages! A special thank you to Jack Black Jack Black for being a great friend to us all and the ultimate ambassador of the Lambsfoot. :D I can’t wait to see what the next 500 pages have in store for us! :) For knife content I have the Ebony Trio! :D

Thank you Ron, your ebony trio looks wonderful :)

I could certainly "get by" with a lambsfoot, and even though it is a better pattern than that implies, I like knives, not a knife. Definitely one of the very best!

Here's my lambsfoot haiku (I actually got this from RALF this morning! ;)).

A pure joy to hold,
Capable of any cut:
Lambsfoot perfection.

I'm afaid that RALF is not very modest. :D

RALF certainly doesn't NEED to be modest my friend, great haiku and pic :)

I'm not yet a Guardian, but I have finished filing papers to adopt a shaped handled one with rosewood covers. With any luck she'll be home by the New Year.

Looking forward to hearing what you think Christian. I'm not entirely sure about the 'shaped handle', they seem to have always been entirely rotten at naming things in Sheffield, where else would they call the cutler invvolved in the final stage of cutlery production the 'Puttertogetherer'! :D

Jack, I'm thinking it would be fitting to call it the "White Rose of Yorkshire" or just The White Rose. :D

See, Dave is considerably better at naming things than I am, because of my genetic handicap! o_O  Thanks Dave, White Rose it is :)

You're spoiling us with your superb photography Dwight :)

I like those shaped handles. Haven't got one yet. Not from Wright's anyway. There's my stranger with no name:

Always good to see that one Jer :)

Wow, super nice! Ironwood?

The Iron Wood I think? o_O looks great with all the dark and light swirls a real number one job.:D

Is that yew? It's beautiful whatever it is

Guardians 2019?

Is that the 2019 sample? Sure, just post that and sign off for the night! :D

:eek:Somebody wake Jack up!

That's purdy.

Glad you guys had a great day! I’m in for two of whatever that is Jack!:D

BRILLIANT!

Ron, I assumed it was ironwood, oops  but as you say whatever it is you'll have two. :D

Yes put me down for two one for each hand:D Gorgeous looking ironwood. I’m sure you had a fun filled day Jack.

Russell

Well, I sure want at least one! Gorgeous!

Yew is magic. Here I was thinking I might have enough.

LOL! :D Sorry folks  Yes, it's the sample I picked up yesterday for the 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot in Desert Ironwood. I'll send out full details by email in due course :)

As one of two non-Wright’s-employees to have seen that knife in person, I will confirm that it is Ironwood, and that it looks great in person. As for the rest…

Here are a couple quick photos I snapped during our visit to Wright’s this morning (technically yesterday morning now). I’ll post some other photos from my Sheffield visit later on, perhaps in the lounge or the totin’ thread.

Hey Barrett, how come you're not in bed?! Hope your journey went OK, and it was great to spend the day with you my friend. Thank you very much for all the gifts :) Those are great pics :)

I am really pleased with the sample, I think this might well be the best yet, covers are so buttery smooth, and it's just beautifully made, really pleased with it :)

Thank you, my friend. I wouldn't even know what a Lambsfoot was if it wasn't for you.

You are very kind Kevin, that's a super shot of your ebony '18 :)

It's a rather grim and miserable day, so far today in Yorkshire, but I'm slipping the sample Lambsfoot in my pocket, in the hope that I might get a chance of a couple of outdoor pics  It doesn't seem like Friday, as I have so much to do! :D Have a good day folks, and thanks for all your enthusiasm :)

GREAT post Dave! :D :)
Thank you for introducing the Lambsfoot to the broader knife community.

See, Dave is considerably better at naming things than I am, because of my genetic handicap! o_O  Thanks Dave, White Rose it is :)
Genetic handicap haha I don't think so Jack :p I am very happy that the name White Rose has been confirmed as I felt sorry for this beauty being called the Albino.

I am really pleased with the sample, I think this might well be the best yet, covers are so buttery smooth, and it's just beautifully made, really pleased with it :)
This will be the best Lambsfoot yet fantastic!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The "Puttertogetherer." I like that. Would make a great forum handle.

A folding Bowie would be pretty cool, too. Wouldn't fit in pocket, though!

You’re welcome and thank you! :)

Looking good Jack! They will be beautiful additions to the Guardian lineage! :D

Hi folks,

I just got in after a long, tiring, but hugely enjoyable day over in Sheffield with Barrett :) I'm on my way to get some zzzzzs, but am looking forward to catching up with everyone tomorrow. Just snapped some pics, I thought I'd share with you before I hit the hay :) :) :)

Oh, that looks fantastic, Jack! I was hoping that Ironwood would be considered for a future Guardians knife.

A very handsome blade, especially with the fancy bolsters.

I am glad you and Barrett had a great time!
