Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I had glandular fever about 15/16 years ago and my glands never went down in my neck. About 12 months later I had Ross River Virus. Both are suspected of making you more susceptible to subsequent illnesses. And after that I seem to get sick much easier. Every few years I get the lumps biopsied or ultrasounded along with blood tests to make sure things haven’t changed. Is what it is 🤷
I'm very sorry to hear that mate :( My friend Matt, casually broke the news that his kids have Scarlet Fever the other day
That’s interesting about the bar that sold it, that would have been the kind of place I would have popped into if had of seen that when I was over there.
I'm glad I did in retrospect, definitely a bit of history

The old dark n stormy aye! I typically drink my rum on the rocks or with water and lemon, keeps me from overindulging…usually.
Good move, I had sipping rum on the Sunday, and mixing rum on Monday :D
I’ll do some digging when I have time on the May knives thanks mate. Would you say they’ve got better/worse or just changed over time?
I think they made a dramatic improvement, but it could be he's just paying Wright's more. After using up Trevor's old stock, he's always bought his parts from Wright's, but at one time, the nose was kind of rounded, now they're swedged. Looks like Ashley does them to me
Hmm, my first wright lamb literally gave me a splinter once it was so rough. Touched that up.
It also had more gaps to mind than the London Underground!
Yikes! I remember a poster having one, where the Rosewood on one side consisted of two pieces crudely stuck together! :D To be fair, he wrote to John Maleham, and was sent a replacement

The Albers guardian lambs are top notch
I've got this one today.

It was once. I am old or old enough    to remember when i was a kid Root Beer was a favourite drink of many. I loved it. Tarax were the main sellers of it, and a lot of the small local lemonade companies also made it. Just showing my age.
When I was a boy, lads made 'ginger beer plants'. You needed to get the starter off another boy or an older brother. I only tried the stuff once, and wasn't very impressed, but my mother, who helped me, was never very good at following recipes.
Definitely an acquired taste. When we moved to the states from Scotland the first time I tried a Root Beer I thought it tasted like Germoline smells

I grew to like the taste

My mother use to make and bottle it somehow. It had a richer flavor than store brands. It seems all sugar and fizz now.

When I first announced the 2024 Guardians knives, I mentioned that I had some in-progress photos that Eric @ea42 had shared with me while he was working on the knives. Now that most of the knives have arrived, I thought I’d share those with y’all.

This was the micarta roll/cylinder that was used for the handles. As you can see, it started out looking a bit rough, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a tad anxious about how the end result would look, but you’ve to trust the process and, of course, they turned out great!

After cross-cutting the cylinder into disks, Eric ended up with a couple pieces that he couldn’t use due to voids or breakage. This was one scrap piece that he partly polished to see what the color and texture would look like.

Here’s one of the stamped liners before assembly. Rather than stamp all five characters individually on every knife (and for a cleaner execution), Eric ordered a stamp from the guy who makes his tang stamps.

Eric said he likes to glue and pin the handle material to the liners. Here’s the micarta being glued to the liners.

Here are a couple pics of the assembled knives during the grinding and shaping process.

And finally, here’s the first bunch of finished knives that I got to see.

Thanks again to Eric for taking these pics along the way so we could see some of the process of how the 2024 Guardians knives were made!:thumbsup:
Super cool to see this Barrett! I believe this is the finest group of 26 knives I've ever seen. The vintage micarta is magical stuff.
Good afternoon Guardians !

Congrats Mitch, another beauty of a GL-24 !

Goodnight all...

Sweet Stag !

That's not a dead bird under the firewood, it's some stuffing (rolled in dirt and dead grass) from a dog toy that was smuggled outside.
