Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Well done Michael.😍
Thank you kind sir! I haven't figured out how to capture the grain without making it look dull. Human eye is still the best lens!

Even with the back-lighting, I should have recognized that bolster groove as characteristic of the ironwood, not the ebony.

My wife is a big fan of putting stuff "in a safe place", but then she often can't remember where the "safe place" was. It doesn't help that she has so many "safe places" that she can't remember them all. Seems like a "safe place" policy would work best with just ONE place.

Sweet photo of a distinguished lamb!

Here's mark side and pile side pics of Valley Jack in April of 2020. Maybe the wood is starting to darken, but it may just be the difference between photos taken on sunny days in 2019 and a cloudy day in 2020?

Thanks GT! Not sure if Valley Jack is darkening there but maybe it has more of the lighter grain so will hold out longer?

That's my problem too -- too many "safe" places...🤪

G'day Guardians, hope you are having a great virtual Friday. Sure have enjoyed the break in the heat these past few days. Fall won't arrive here for a while (we're just being teased this week) but I'll take it. Jack Black Jack Black hope your meetings and travels go your way.

Gnaw bone is a 😎🐑👍🤠
Morning Guardians. I’ll miss the Market report today. I used to go to a Farmer’s Market on Sunday mornings and enjoyed people watching. But the real characters in town hung out at my favorite dive bar. Lot’s of Tool Man and Boring Rays. I was for sure a combo of both. But during the pandemic knocking a few beers back at home wasn’t working for me. I just stopped drinking one day. Now I have lots of lambsfoots. It all works out.
I imagine Tool Man in Leeds today…he’s telling the cake vendor to cut the cake in larger squares because he’s thinking of his figure and can only eat a couple of pieces. Boring Ray hears this and looks lost….here’s a knife pic. Have a great day.

Thank you Steve!

Gnawbone is looking great this morning!

Thanks Ken !

Thanks Steve, it is a crape myrtle. There are quite a few of them around our neighborhood lake, along with some other kinds (mostly oak, pine, and personally-disliked chinese tallow; also a few maple and birch which are a bit odd to be non-cultivated around here). Anyway,.... I like trees lol!

Well, stop all this monkey business and get on with it Jack.😁
LOL! :D I wish I'd stayed at home! :D
Thanks Jack
Gl-24 is photogenic.
Have a good one 1.
Thank you Mitch, you too mate :)
Cool pic Bob :) I reckon the Space Force definitely needs a Space Lamb! ;)

Thanks!
I hope Bradford turns out delightful.

Thanks buddy, that wouldn't be the word I'd use, but I appreciate the sentiment :) Nice to see OTW
All great pics of the GL-24 !
Thanks Steve :)
Good morning Guardians. Going to play golf at Lockwood Folly today - got my 1st hole in one there on number two hole. 145 yard par three over the marsh. Looking forward to reliving the moment.:D Had my HHB out this morning for oil and a touch-up on the edge. Once I return from the links I'll be carrying it.

Wow, well done Bill, hope you can celebrate a second today :)
Thanks mates. :)

Have a great day all.
Really cool pic Dwight :)
I agree, Jack; almost all of those ironwood Guardians knives were attractively figured.
Seeing the group photo again, I'm struck by how dark a few of them were to start with.
I think we were unusually lucky there Gary :) That's not all the 19's though, because Wright's ran out of Ironwood halfway through, and had to order more! 😖

And then there were the Pile sides ;)

Thank you David :)
I grabbed this picture this morning on the way out of the house. I was walking past the boat and thought that the teak bow rail would make a nice backdrop!

It's a GREAT knife pic Kurt! Funnily enough, I rang Tool Man on the way to the station this morning, and he was right there at the cake stall, talking to Our Cake Man! 😂

I can't believe football season is starting. Where did summer go? Sure, we had a couple of hot days, but...I'm ready for summer

Go Chiefs! 🚩

I know the feeling Mike! Cool pic of your '24 :)

Back in the 1980's I spent quite a lot of time in Bradford, and though it's affluent glory days were over, it was still a vibrant city. For the past couple of decades, I've found it a depressing place to visit, and it certainly hasn't got any better  Currently, a very large part of the centre is dug up, and it's been like this for the past couple of years apparently. They couldn't just do it a street or two at a time, they've effectively closed down the city centre. Bradford made it's money from woollen mills, there were thousands of them, including some of the biggest in the world. They generated an enormous amount of money, and evidence of that can still be seen. That was a very long time ago though, and even in the centre of town, there are shops that have been empty for 40 years, and buildings that might have been empty a century. Going there is like going back in time, perhaps 40 years, compared to modern, gentrified Leeds. I had an all-day breakfast in a cafe, which reminded me of the 1980's, but with slightly better coffee. There is still a small market, and it sells some things you won't find in Leeds market anymore, but it is outdated, and devoid of shoppers. I don't see Bradford changing, or improving soon. Unfortunately, my meetings went well, so I have several more trips to make, but I will be insisting they are NOT on a Thursday!

Love the warmth of that photo David.
Thanks Bob! Hope your day is going well 👍🤠

Thanks Jack. All this lollygagging is about to wear me out. Might need to nap in a bit. Yes sir it's Horsewright small Buckaroo pouch. It fits the Wright, Albers and May sized Lambsfoot knives well. 👍🤠

Sorry about the decline of Bradford. Glad your meetings went well. Hope you have a good evening. 👍🤠 Tell Tool Man he owes you a extra piece of cake next week. 😁

I know i'm old grumpy and cynical and all the other stuff that goes with it, but all Markets just look the same now, it's like we have been invaded by aliens from outer space.

Sounds like Wally world around here. The later in the evening it gets the worse it is. I remember a time when people dressed nice and wanted to look good when they were seen in public. 😁

Thanks for the replies on "root" pronunciation and Killebrew beverages, Barrett.
Several times per year, I still think about your link to the NYT "regional dialect" quiz that predicted people's location from their vocabulary. (Did it include any items about pronunciation?)

There were definitely some pronunciation questions in the dialect quiz, like whether or not you pronounce “pen” and “pin” the same, or how you pronounce the word “aunt.” That quiz was a lot of fun, but it’s unfortunately behind a paywall now. 🙄

Funnily enough, I rang Tool Man on the way to the station this morning, and he was right there at the cake stall, talking to Our Cake Man! 😂

I’m surprised he can operate a phone (at least one that isn’t connected to a wall by a cord and has a rotary dial.) 😁 On second thought, the rotary dial might be too complicated. 🤣

Sorry to hear your trip to Bradford went so well that you’ll have to go back. 😉😁 Thanks for the pics. As with most places in your country, it appears to have some beautiful old architecture (if you can look past the barricades, temporary fences, orange cones and construction signs held in place by sandbags). The leaf sculpture is interesting, too.

I received a surprise in the mail yesterday, a package from SteveC SteveC containing this lovely Sheffield-made Lambsfoot. Jack, you’ll have to forgive the open secondary blade this one time — I could deprive everyone from seeing that excellent OIL THE JOINTS tang stamp. 😁 The knife was recovered by glennbad glennbad in Rosewood. Thanks again, Steve!:thumbsup:
