Black Jack is back!

During the last half of August, I was away from home and NOT following my weekly rotation schedule for a couple of weeks. Instead, I took some recently acquired knives with me, along with a few knives, including my 2018 ebony Guardians Lamb, that I thought needed some attention that I could give them while away from my usual routines.

Now that I'm back to my rotation schedule in September, I find that Black Jack is my Lambsfoot of the Week for September 15-21. So here he is, back for a return engagement, after only a couple of weeks off. (I told him he was back by popular demand, just to raise his self-esteem.)
Mark and pile, in a little woodlot, shortly after Black Jack came into my possession:

Thanks Pete, me too I think I'm about to be offered a job though, and flattering and prestigious as it is, I really should turn it down. I'm 63, and have been trying to wind down for a few years now, and a full-time job would change my life

I understand that Jack, the juice is sometimes not worth the squeeze! I have my mind set on a date for retirement but it’s quite a few years down the road. You must have a goal though.

Morning Guardians! Hope y'all have a restful Sunday too. Lots of good Lambs this morning. Made it to the rodeo last night had a great time. Saw some old friends I hadn't seen in years.

It's pouring. The cat got fed. I toted two lambs for the duty. The Stagnator is really growing on me. Harvey's Taylor has no room to grow - she's already at the top.

My AC is working, for now. However the compressor is working really hard even with the hard start/run kit. The compressor is drawing more power than normal in order to start and run. Something isn't right for the compressor to be doing this in less than three years. The only trouble is that while it's under warranty, labor isn't. I'm going to try and talk to the owner of the company that installed it and see what can be done. They have been very good to work with in the past. My friend who is a HVAC tech. thinks it's either a bad compressor from the factory with a defect or perhaps they didn't vacuum out the lines properly when they installed it. If there is a bit of moisture in the system it can cause premature compressor failure.

Thanks, Bob. I've got to agree. In person, the bright areas you see in the grain appear to be highly reflective spots deep down in the wood. I can't seem to capture the transparent effect in pictures but firsthand, it's really very striking.

Beautiful trees. We've got some old ones around here that are enormous. 40 ft tall and with a canopy twice that wide. It looks like they're on fire when in full bloom. Majestic.
