Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Sorry mate I didn’t read the text with the photo, I’m sad to hear of the bad news. I hope the family is doing ok, thoughts are with you.
Thanks Jack,
Sorry to read this. Seems there is so much cancer these days.
Thank you
Sadly we've lost quite a few to cancer.
Nice pic Jack, good luck on the hunt !

Sorry to hear Mitch, condolences to you and your family.

RB 😍👍

Great looking burl ! 😍
Thanks Steve

Thank you all for your kind words. 💛💛

Guardians of the Condiments GIVEAWAY!!

Unless you’ve slept through the last 100+ pages of this thread, you’ve likely been seeing a lot of the 2024 Guardians of the Lambsfoot knives made for us by Eric Albers. Many of you have been carrying yours and sharing pics here, which has been a real treat for me. I enjoyed getting to work on this project with Eric (he did all the real work, of course, making the knives), and I’m happy that everyone seems to like the knives.

While putting the Guardians knives together, Eric ended up with a couple extra GL-24 stamped liners, a result of breaks/voids in some pieces of the vintage Micarta that made them unfit for use. Since he couldn’t really use the stamped liners for anything else, I asked Eric if he might make a couple extra knives, in whatever handle material he’d like. He kindly agreed to do so. You could call them “Eric’s Choice” if you were so inclined. 🙂

When I first reached out and asked Eric to take on the Guardians project, I had some initial (admittedly self-indulgent and far-fetched) ideas of tying the knives into the whole Guardians of the Condiments thing. I looked at some pretty out-there handle materials, including an orange and black (Henderson’s Relish colors) patterned G10 that was particularly wild. 🤣 In the end we obviously went a different way, and I think the vintage Polish Micarta turned out to be a much better (and less polarizing) choice.

Now I doubt that Eric had any of that in mind when he chose the materials for the two “bonus” knives that he made (he probably doesn’t even remember me rambling on about the Guardians of the Condiments in my early emails). But he did send me two knives that, to my eye, at least, definitely have a bit of a condiment-adjacent theme to them.

Eric referred to these as Cranberry Jigged Bone and Brown/Green Stag Jigged Bone, but I think I’m going to call them “Cranberry Relish Jigged Bone” (a nod to one of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes from my grandma) and “Pickle Bone” (because how could I call that one anything else?). 😁

BTckbwb.jpg

I hope that y’all won’t begrudge me the decision to hang on to one of these knives myself, and my 4-year-old daughter Scout made it pretty clear that she wanted me to keep the Pickle Bone Lambsfoot, so I’m going with that one.

That means that the Cranberry Relish Lambsfoot will be going to one lucky Guardian, because this is a giveaway! The rules are pretty simple:

— You need to have at least 25 posts (prior to this post) in the Guardians thread to qualify. You’re welcome to enter on behalf of another Guardian, but they must meet the post requirement.

— Let me know that you are in for the GAW, and post a condiment-themed Lambsfoot photo.

— I’ll let this go until some time Sunday afternoon (Sept. 22) to give everyone enough time to see this and enter.

— Sometime around the middle of the week I’ll probably post an update with an opportunity for a second entry in the GAW.

— And finally, I would ask that whoever wins this knife please keep it within the Guardians group if you ever decide to move it along. I think it goes without saying in this group, but please don’t enter with the intent of selling/profiting off the knife.

So let’s see your favorite hot sauces, BBQ sauces, mustards, chili crisp, Henderson’s relish, or whatever other condiments you like (along with a Lambsfoot knife, of course). Have fun with it, get creative, and thanks again for such a great reception to the 2024 Guardians knives!:thumbsup:

Bourbon and bacon sounds interesting, though I’m admittedly always a bit hesitant with bacon-flavored things. Don’t get me wrong, I love bacon, but sometimes “bacon flavor” doesn’t really taste anything like the real deal. 🤣
I know what you mean about the bacon flavor in most things, but this is really good! I highly recommend you try it especially being the condiment connoisseur that you are. 👍

Looks delicious, and that sauce sounds fantastic 😋👍
It was really good Jack! 👍

Afternoon all,
Just gave Jb lamb a hone up for tomorrow's carry.
Don't know when I'll post tomorrow, the wife of Kristy's brother passed last week due to liver cancer. Funeral is tomorrow.
Sorry to hear this. 🙏

I’m back to the elevator micarta lamb today. I keep it in my valet tray with my wallet and keys and is always the one I measure the other lambs up to. So far, it has yet to be overtaken, even though I did flirt with the stag Albers last night. 😁

Great expression Pete! :D
I like that one too. 😎
Cool pic buddy
🙏
Good stuff, Pete. Does that little one say “Grapefruit Pulp Habenero”?
Good eyes Barrett. Yes that is a mini of the grapefruit pulp. They also do an orange pulp and a mango. They are all pretty good. The mango has a sweetness too it - great one eggs. 👍🏻👍🏻
Another great pic Pete, I'm liking this theme! 😊👍
Thanks Jack! I finally succumbed and got that Charlie lamb some color.

Good morning Guardians. The tropical storm moved out of our region last evening and it is sunny out now. Heading out soon for a trim at the barber💈 - got to get ready for my vacation in Germany - Bring on the Octoberfest!👍

Nice !

I love this! I’ve been looking and looking but can’t seem to find anyone willing to part with one. Love the photo as well!
Thanks. Perseverance and you will prevail. :)
Great pic of Charlie
Thanks pal.
Couldn’t decide which I liked more so put them both in. My entry for the giveaway, thanks Barrett btb01 btb01

Love the jigging on both of those knives 😍😍 Eric has outdone himself again.

Great pic Jack! :D
Fantastic Lambsfoot collection, Dwight!
Thanks Barrett. :)
It was just bottled tonight. My wife made the Il Bozzolo label - that's what we named our house, and that sticker is what we put on things we make to give away (hot sauce, lemoncello, etc.).
That's very cool Tyson. 👍
With the season still on the decline and this weeks much needed raining already vanishing I’ve had a couple of growers pull the pin on todays paddock inspections.
Called a mate and after work we’re heading out to the bush for a quick hunt. Maybe a fox, hopefully a deer.

GL-24 in the pocket today.

Another wonderful image.
Excellent shot of your Waynorth Lamb Dwight
Thanks mate!

Good morning Guardians, it was still cold when I came out, but it looks like we're going to have another nice day. I'm looking forward to coffee when I get to Bradford! Have a great day Guardians 👍
Have a great day yourself Jack!.
Giving the neglected pile side some time.
Redwood burl
I envy you gentlemen, presenting all those great sauces. Wish I could enjoy the nuance beyond the heat.

Beautiful burl Bo. Is that redwood as in Sequoia?
Good morning Guardians !

It sure is fun seeing all the condiment posts 🙂

Small Horn Lamb today. I'm stuck here waiting for the Heating and AC company to come and evaluate my AC compressor for warranty replacement. 🙁

Love the horn and the super - sway in that little lamb.

...

Y'all like pile sides around here?

gVslkA3.jpeg
I like pile sides, especially on a cool "moon rock"!

Beauty of a bonus, and that's a ritzy rock, too!

Rosewood HHB always grabs me like a pliers!

Plaudits for the high-mileage lamb!

Elegant desk knife!

Splendid lamb and fascinating coin!

Your large lamb has a supersized tang, too!

Of course I remember, Jack!! I have quite a collection of slips!! Maybe worth another thread??!! Is there a thread about slips that anybody knows of?? Anyone???
Here are a few pocket slip threads from the beginning of the results of Search for thread titles containing "pocket slip":
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/traditional-pocket-knife-slip.1968485/
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/pocket-slip-question.1738371/

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/pocket-slip-or-let-it-scuff.1493077/
No idea whether any of the threads are what you have in mind, or if their photos are gone.

I'm afraid the climate in my location has become inhospitable to human (and lamb) lives. This morning, I opened the front door and visible water vapor (not fog, mind you - closer to steam ♨️) began forming right there in the doorway! I stepped outside and after a few moments, I had this horrific mental picture of my body and the outside environment being so closely aligned in terms of temperature and moisture content that I simply began dissolving into the atmosphere! 😱

Rain or shine, dad's kitty needs to eat - and there's only one lamb I could, in good conscience, take out in weather that can only be described as... well... maybe there are a few words for it but none of them suitable for a family-friendly lambfoot discussion! Torrential - there you go. Accurate and child-safe!

Bex, stainless, solid, easy to pinch open (even when wet) - and no nail-breaker! As predicted, when the weather sours, this lamb smiles all the sweeter!

hkh3OPC.jpeg
You have an active, well-fertilized imagination, Will!
That rock is a great match for Bex in color and texture! (Some kind of coal??)

A riot of colors!

Well, we’re still in the thick of unpacking boxes from our move, but all the furniture is in its right place and it’s starting to feel more home-like by the day. A big plus of this new place is it has some real nice south facing windows opening into a shaded back yard. Adds up to a great setting for windowsill knife pics! 😆

View attachment 2660394
I'm still trying to find a good windowsill in my house for winter knife photos.
Fine photo of a sublime knife!

Evening all
Chops for dinner tonight

Feast fit for a king, Mitch!
What, if anything, do you put on your sweet potato fries/chips when you eat them?

I cooked up a bit of pork over the fire out the back with the kids tonight. Didn’t snap that, but I managed to close the lamb on myself though 🙂
View attachment 2660433
Who'd think little lambs can be so vicious??

Guardians, I apologize for my recent absence, but you are not forgotten. I still have two different lambs on my workbench that I fondle and use daily, but my new Case-Bose WT has taken my breath away and I'm still in the honeymoon stage. RALF is resting in the cabinet, while my two stags, Beni and Diego are out and about.

Love that "defect" on your rosewood HHB!
(What is a "crater" in wood like that called?)

Glad Friday's here for some of you folks.

Lamb of distinction!

Good afternoon Guardians !

I'm dealing with a broken Air conditioner so I've been preoccupied today 🙁 It's only three years old 🤬

This Large I*XL is helping me keep cool.

Superb lamb! Hope you get your AC problems fixed soon.

Take it easy y'all...
Love a larger-than-life lamb!

I'm a natural blond, I can't remember things like that!!
Is that a legitimate excuse?? I've been blond all my life (until I went gray/silver) and had no idea I could have taken advantage of it!

This is for Barrett@btb01.

Friday 13th. Hope no one has triskaidekaphobia.

Those coffin lambs are unforgettable! (That pair is scary to Gary.)

Thank you for sharing! Too notch lamb and manhole covers can be so interesting.
Totally agree!

Wonderful photo of that stag lamb!

That’s awesome, and good call holding onto that green one! I’d love to participate, even though I’m a boring ol’ tobasco kinda guy😁 I like plenty of other sauces but if I have to pick a favorite, I’d say this stuff wins just based on how often I go through the bottles.

Thanks again btb01 btb01 for coordinating the GL-24s, and also for the chance at an awesome giveaway.

We certainly don’t eat them!
Foxes were introduced by the English to make Australia a bit more like home. They went on to become one of our most devastating pests contributing to the loss of many native species.
In my state the government offers a bounty of $10 for every fox scalp.
I heard that mate, how typical of the British ruling class - The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable! 🤨 In Tasmania, they hunted the POPULATION!.😱

One of our first Australian Guardians, Cambertree Cambertree was employed shooting foxes 👍
