Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

No, there seem to be lots of Lambsfoot knives carried long past the time other knives were tossed out 👍

That 100% tracks with what I see looking around online - lambsfoot knives get sharpened into spikes where other types of knives I just don't see this as much.

And just to clarify, no, Henderson’s Relish does not count as a beverage. 😉😁

Well, they're your rules, so do what you want, but you might be missing out on a tasty beverage here...

— Giveaway UPDATE —

I’ve really enjoyed the entries in the GAW so far, y’all have done a great job with your condiment-and-Lambsfoot posts. As promised, I’d like to offer everyone a chance for a second entry.

While the giveaway theme was open to any kind of condiment, many of you, perhaps unsurprisingly, opted to share some kind of hot sauce. And when you’re eating spicy food, you pretty much have to have a beverage to go with it, right? So for a second entry, let’s see a beverage and Lambsfoot pic. It can be alcoholic, non-alcoholic, maybe you need a tall glass of milk if you’ve been using some of that really hot hot sauce… whatever you like, as long as it’s a beverage.

Here are a couple I’ve posted here before, just to get things started.

Oh go ahead and twist my arm to crack open a cold one😅 This has been my go to drink for the summer, probably time to find a fall drink with the weather starting to turn here in Idaho.

Barrett, thanks for the opportunity to submit another entry in your GAW! Here are some photos of various lambsfoot knives with various beverages.

Black Jack, my ebony Guardians Lambsfoot, with Serendipity Porter, dark beer with dark knife:

Cracker Jack, my Ashley's Choice lambsfoot, with Saugatuck Brewery's Blueberry Maple Stout. The knife is tasteful, the stout doesn't lack taste, but it's not a taste I recommend:

Rosewood Union Jack with Great Lakes Brewing Edmund Fitzgerald Porter; both knife and beverage are among my favorites:

Guardians of the Condiments GIVEAWAY!!

Unless you’ve slept through the last 100+ pages of this thread, you’ve likely been seeing a lot of the 2024 Guardians of the Lambsfoot knives made for us by Eric Albers. Many of you have been carrying yours and sharing pics here, which has been a real treat for me. I enjoyed getting to work on this project with Eric (he did all the real work, of course, making the knives), and I’m happy that everyone seems to like the knives.

While putting the Guardians knives together, Eric ended up with a couple extra GL-24 stamped liners, a result of breaks/voids in some pieces of the vintage Micarta that made them unfit for use. Since he couldn’t really use the stamped liners for anything else, I asked Eric if he might make a couple extra knives, in whatever handle material he’d like. He kindly agreed to do so. You could call them “Eric’s Choice” if you were so inclined. 🙂

When I first reached out and asked Eric to take on the Guardians project, I had some initial (admittedly self-indulgent and far-fetched) ideas of tying the knives into the whole Guardians of the Condiments thing. I looked at some pretty out-there handle materials, including an orange and black (Henderson’s Relish colors) patterned G10 that was particularly wild. 🤣 In the end we obviously went a different way, and I think the vintage Polish Micarta turned out to be a much better (and less polarizing) choice.

Now I doubt that Eric had any of that in mind when he chose the materials for the two “bonus” knives that he made (he probably doesn’t even remember me rambling on about the Guardians of the Condiments in my early emails). But he did send me two knives that, to my eye, at least, definitely have a bit of a condiment-adjacent theme to them.

Eric referred to these as Cranberry Jigged Bone and Brown/Green Stag Jigged Bone, but I think I’m going to call them “Cranberry Relish Jigged Bone” (a nod to one of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes from my grandma) and “Pickle Bone” (because how could I call that one anything else?). 😁

I hope that y’all won’t begrudge me the decision to hang on to one of these knives myself, and my 4-year-old daughter Scout made it pretty clear that she wanted me to keep the Pickle Bone Lambsfoot, so I’m going with that one.

That means that the Cranberry Relish Lambsfoot will be going to one lucky Guardian, because this is a giveaway! The rules are pretty simple:

— You need to have at least 25 posts (prior to this post) in the Guardians thread to qualify. You’re welcome to enter on behalf of another Guardian, but they must meet the post requirement.

— Let me know that you are in for the GAW, and post a condiment-themed Lambsfoot photo.

— I’ll let this go until some time Sunday afternoon (Sept. 22) to give everyone enough time to see this and enter.

— Sometime around the middle of the week I’ll probably post an update with an opportunity for a second entry in the GAW.

— And finally, I would ask that whoever wins this knife please keep it within the Guardians group if you ever decide to move it along. I think it goes without saying in this group, but please don’t enter with the intent of selling/profiting off the knife.

So let’s see your favorite hot sauces, BBQ sauces, mustards, chili crisp, Henderson’s relish, or whatever other condiments you like (along with a Lambsfoot knife, of course). Have fun with it, get creative, and thanks again for such a great reception to the 2024 Guardians knives!:thumbsup:

Barrett, wow, that is one fine giveaway!! Scout definitely picked a winner, but the Cranberry Relish is awfully nice as well. I almost feel guilty seeing as I haven't been a big contributing member here much recently, but darn it, I'm throwing my hat, er condiments, in the ring!

The last few years, I kept creeping up hotter and hotter, settling on a ghost pepper sauce, but after waking up in the middle of the night with my guts twisted up a few times, I eased back down a little.

It's hard to find a really hot sauce that actually tastes good. I've received a bunch of those novelty sauces from relatives over the years, and while they're hot, usually taste awful.

Unfortunately, the store has been out of my favorite habanero sauce recently. It's okay, because this is my go-to..... What I use as ketchup.... I've literally ingested gallons of this stuff over the course of time.

This BBQ sauce is pretty good with pork ribs and chicken thighs😀

My wife, Jen, saw me and asked if I was really taking pictures of a knife and a bottle of BBQ sauce, then proceeded to tease me. She's hilarious! 😂

Anyway, hope that wasn't too long winded and boring.... Don't want to earn the nickname Boring Steve! 😂

Great pile side on your GL-24! I see a shark swimming under the dock. 😱

I always enjoy your beer selections, GT. 🙂👍

Here's another entry for Leon if that's okay Barrett. Gotta keep his odds up. :)
Wow great pic, your taste and photo skills are beyond impressive! 👏

My wife does the same thing! Sometimes she catches herself giving me tips on getting a better shot. 😆

Every now and then my brother will travel to Wisconsin to visit his wife’s family. When I can, I talk him into picking up a case of Spotted Cow for me while he’s there. It’s pretty good beer especially in the summertime. I’ll be switching to the Founders Oktoberfest in the back which will carry me into winter when I’ll switch to whiskey barrel aged stouts. My wife’s grandma found this rock somewhere locally, we have no idea what it is but it’s pretty.

That's a good woman there! Mine does not do that.... She's chock full of sarcasm and snark, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Plus, she does joke that I'm nuts..... She refers to everyone here as 'your knife bros' 🤣

Some lamb content and I'm realizing that drawer needs a good vacuuming🫣

Afternoon all
Young Jack look away now🤪
Swans play tonight, win grand final!.
Go the bloods!!

Insert eye roll…

I will say if it’s out of you guys and cats I’m wearing the red and white.
Jake Lloyd is actually from my town, couple years below me in school. My old man and his were mates back in the Goroke days where they and I are both from originally.

Started coming good on the bus ride yesterday but stayed off the beer in case it come back, still didn’t get to bed until late.
Saw some nice crops in an area doing much better than us. Rain accompanied by a rainbow on the way home hopefully indicating good things to come!

Han is on night duty so hopefully the kids let me sleep tonight.
