Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

That's a beauty Jack !

I hope you have a great day !
Thank you Steve :)
They look very much like old East End London. " TOUGH ".
Yeah, probably worked in the steel works during WW2! You wouldn't want a right-hander off of either of them! :D
Just having an early Saturday morning coffee before i go for a walk to my local market to get some supplies from the butcher. Hope everyone has good and safe weekend. 🥰 .

Sounds like a nice way to start your weekend Leon :)
Bargain Steve! :D :)
HHB is always dashing. 🤩 Have a great day out and about. Bob has promised to look after things.
Thank you very much buddy :) Might have to dock his wages! :D ;)
That’s about $8aud, if I saw a slide of cake for that I’d think it was a decent deal. Getting bloody silly for a nice slice of carrot cake or lemon meringue pie at a cafe these days.
Blimey, I didn't realiser mate! Prices have gone crazy haven't they? I noticed that the beer in Liverpool, and the food prices, were cheaper than in Leeds - a 'mere' £4 a pint!
Barrett, thanks again for making the GL-24s happen, and for running a fun giveaway.

My wife knows that I consider Lewis' Reepicheep to be one of the great characters in English literature, so she recently gave me this mug featuring one of his best quotes. Shouted at a voice in the darkness that's making his human friends nervous, Reepicheep the Mouse says: "If you are a foe we do not fear you, and if you are a friend your enemies shall be taught the fear of us."

That's a great line! But it might come on a little intensely for most of the circumstances where I'm meeting somebody for the first time, so I'm still waiting for a chance to use it.

20240920-064916.jpg

Incidentally, I managed to take this photo without dropping the GL-24 in the coffee. This time I didn't drop it in until after I took the photo.
Cool mug Tyson! :D
Been away for a bit, hopelessly behind on this thread. Was in CT last week for work, this Guardians knife accompanied me, and continues to. Bass in the picture is from a good friend, very nice and plays like a dream.

Good morning guardians, kids had waffles this morning but I’m in for steak and eggs.

That'll set you up for the day Jack :)
Im a boring drinker but heres a neat old horn handled working lamb for the beverage portion

It certainly has some character
This photo, apparently taken on Yorkshire Day 2018, shows Black Jack, my lambsfoot this week, using a slide rule to calculate that 2x3 = 6.
(That set-up of the slide rule also shows that the square of 3 is 9 and, equivalently, that the square root of 9 is 3. Nobody ever mentions this, but the left ends of the scales on the "slider" all align, so you can use them to find that 2 squares is 4 and square root of 4 is 2. If you trust your ability to visualize a vertical straight line through those 1s on the left end of the scales on the slider, you can also see that the cube root of 8 is 2.)

Black Jack is a smart one! ;)
1.5 oz tequila
.5 oz Gran Gala (cheaper than Gran ********)
1 to 1 1/2 limes pressed
1 oz Fresca or Diet 7up
1 oz orange juice or quarter orange pressed

Put that on ice and stir it up!
Thanks Pete :)
btb01 btb01 wants beverages? Then he gets beverages! Here we go:

Native or transplant, there comes a time in the life of every young and eager denizen of Miami when they must make a very important decision. This decision could impact everything from who they'll marry, if they'll hold public office, what schools they'll attend, where they'll summer, the type of employment they'll receive, whether or not they'll be written into the family will - or disowned and disavowed entirely. That decision is: Which of the three competing Cuban coffee brands do you prefer? ☕

We've got a fight on, folks. A triple-pronged affair involving, in the right corner and wearing red and yellow trunks, the heavyweight champion - Caaaaaaaafeeeeee Pilón! In the left corner, wearing yellow and red trunks, a contender for the title and a sometimes local favorite - Caaaaafeeeeee Bustèlo! And last but not least, wearing green trunks and swinging from the stadium's girders with a hot-rodded buzzsaw and a maniacal cackle - the one, the only, CAAAAFEE LA LLAVE!!! 🥊🪚🔑

They're all basically the same. Cuban coffee is essentially espresso that's been toasted too much - and yet, here we are. I choose Cafe La Llave myself. It's an underdog. Frowned upon in polite circles. It's probably the reason I'm still unemployed - and yet, one time, upon opening a fresh package, an aroma so sublime overtook my senses that it moved me to compose a letter to the company in their praise. I'm basically completely in the tank for them. Alas.

I don't drink coffee much lately, as I've found that tea treats me better over the long haul. I made this coffee for my GF, and had a few sips myself. For me, I've found that less is more when it comes to coffee. Especially the Cuban variety. 🇨🇺

What better pairing for liquid rocket fuel than a shuttle lamb? None better! 🚀

Thank you Jack, I hope you enjoy your day with your mate and his family.
Thanks a lot Pat, it was a good plan, but I sure was glad to get out of the car by the time we got back! :D
I've already posted some beverage and lambsfoot photos for an additional chance in Barrett's GAW, but I'll post a few more since I have them.
These all feature Lam Jack, my 2017 horn Guardians lambsfoot, with a variety of stouts, all of which were very enjoyable.

Good Lam Jack pics Gary
Have a great day tomorrow my friend!
Have a great weekend all...
Thanks pal :) That's another great pic, I do love a bit of vintage Bexoid
Haha, believe it or not, that giant bottle is at the regular grocery store here! That Stubb's sauce isn't all that hot but it does have a slight kick and is pretty tasty. I'll keep an eye out for Gates Extra Hot!

My wife grabbed 10 bottles of my favorite today. Most people are surprised at how hot this stuff is, but the flavor is probably the best, very low salt and doesn't have the vinegar flavor. Don't get me wrong, Tabasco has its place, but I generally prefer no vinegar.

Hope you don't mind I squeezed in a beverage too.... Will that count as a second entry? 😁

Also went full nerd and had a couple of my WWI models in there too.... Been working on the one for far too long!

Have a great night, Guardians!
Cool pic
Ethan looks good David :)
Here’s a beverage-and-Lambsfoot pic from dinner tonight. The chain restaurant was the girls pick (not my first choice), and I wasn’t really planning on having a drink, but my wife ordered a margarita and was informed it was happy hour and they were buy one get one free. Alright, twist my arm. (We had two each.) 🤣

j59kyEi.jpg
I'm glad you were all able to get out Barrett, and those margaritas look pretty tempting 😋 👍
Congratulations Mitch :) Nice pic there :)
btb01 btb01 I rarely drink anything special, but my libation of choice would be this:

That has a nice old-fashioned look my friend, and it's nice to see your '17 :)
This GAW is fun! I love the baseball pic, I always have to sneak my knives into the ballgame. I did get caught with a knife one time so I had to take it outside and hide it in the bushes…one of the drivers was parked sitting in his car and saw me hide it. I didn’t think he would take it, but when I left the game it was gone. I’m guessing it was his first GEC…😂

Picked up a new IPA for this entry. So far I’m really enjoying it.

We are rolling along so quickly now you cannot afford to take your eye off the ball for one minute. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤠
Nearly ten pages! Maybe I should have locked the door! :D

Well I haven't been around much lately; I'm gettin' old and crotchety and hard to get along with. But, heck, I just can't resist getting a chance to win a fine Guardians Lambfoot. Many thanks to Barrett for his effort on the GL knives; great job!

Nice series of condiment (and beverage) and Lambsfoot posts, Barry! Some great knives in there. 🙂 I’ve got you down for the GAW.

I wish we had common sense rules like that, by the book a pen knife or leatherman could have you arrested here if you don’t have a legitimate reason to carry. Generally not an issue in the country but I wouldn’t be game in the city. U18s can’t buy plastic cutlery knives from the supermarket either - go figure.

That’s a shame, Jack. I didn’t know knife laws were that strict in Australia. (To be fair, most large public events here where you have to go through security — sporting events, concerts, etc. — don’t allow knives to be brought in. The couple baseball stadiums I mentioned seem to be the exception to the rule.)

How long do ball games typically last?
Jack, games last about 2 1/2 hours now. They have instituted a time clock for pitchers to speed up game.

Beers range from $3 - $15

Like Bob said, MLB (Major League Baseball) games are around 2.5 hours long. Before the new pitch clock rule, which was implemented a few years ago, the average game time was over 3 hours. (A lot of pitchers used to love controlling the pace of the game by taking a lot of time between pitches. For some, the new rule was a pretty significant change.)

The difference is noticeable when you attend a game in person. In some ways that’s a good thing, but I’ve always liked the slower pace of baseball (especially in person), and now it seems like you miss a lot more of the game if you get up to grab some food or a beer.

Bob, I want to know where you’re getting $3 beer at a baseball game! 🤣 I guess they do have $5 12 oz domestic cans at a couple “value” stands at Twins games. But yeah, for anything halfway decent, you’re shelling out $12-$15.

You gentlemen haven’t lived until you’ve had my grandma’s catsup first made over 100 years ago in the hills of West Virginia! First pic is from about two weeks ago when I was at my brothers house and we were bottling a fresh batch. The second is one of the bottles I brought home 😀😋.View attachment 2667151View attachment 2667152

Very interesting, Dan. What a great tradition! While you didn’t specifically say so, I’m assuming this is an entry for the giveaway, and I have your name down for it.

Crisis averted, I carried my GL-24 yesterday and this morning after turning the house upside down couldn’t find it anywhere. I’d asked the kids if they’d touched it “no dad”.

Searched out side where Flynn and I kicked the footy yesterday, my car, everywhere.

As a last effort I offered the boys a reward if they could find it along with an amnesty for any wrongdoing. 30 seconds later they come back with it in hand “we hid it from you last night” 🙄

Han and I had a ham and egg sandwich for brekky. While the GL-24 was lost I picked up the Daniels.

Off to the zoo today with the kids.

Kids… 🙄🤣 At least it wasn’t actually lost!

The only beverages in the house at the moment are water, beer, coffee and tea. After a day packing the car for my trip to Tennessee tomorrow, amongst other various chores, I finally took a beverage and lamb pic. Nice soothing cup of green tea is just the ticket. I'll be mostly off line for the next week or maybe two. See y'all when I get back.

Haha! The pistol is a 1/2.05 scale replica of the Colt 45 model 1911. Non-firing

I was hoping maybe it was a lighter, you know, pull back the hammer, and the flame comes out the end of the barrel! 🤣

Good morning/evening lambsters, enjoy your weekend.

LOL! :D Thanks mate, I remember that! :D

Barrett, if you ever visit Miami, make no mistake - calling it rocket fuel is only barely hyperbole. Drink a little too much and feel all kinds of bad. The whole city runs on it. 24 hours a day, "cafecito" is being served out of walk-up windows along most thoroughfares - major or otherwise. A cafecito (an individual portion of the larger "Colada" - meant for sharing with groups) is a shockingly sugary shot of extremely potent over-toasted espresso. They are to be sipped rather than slammed - a mistake that, for the uninitiated, could have immediate consequences. 😵‍💫
Fascinating
Excellent pic
Thanks for the replies, Jack.
The replacement HHB you sent me doesn't have an attractive edge, but it has always cut very well, and I can hone it with no difficulty.
Thanks for the interesting comparison photos of the Landshark's blade with a "standard" lambsfoot blade (although the "noses" of lambsfoot blades exhibit a lot of variability).
Along with the sample Barlow they made me at the same time, it probably had the worst edge I've ever seen Gary 😠 One of the reasons I called it a day with that firm
Thanks, Jack. I don't have many knives with ebony handles, but the 2018 Guardians lambsfoot is an excellent example!
Thank you
Is that still a Sunday tradition for you, Jack?
Not so much mate, I tend to forget to buy the breadcakes

Nice pic of you GL !

Good morning Guardians, looks like I've got a lot of catching-up to do! I was in Liverpool yesterday, a city I've only visited half a dozen times in my life, and not for over 15 years. Matt's missus, Ruth, was visiting an old college friend with the kids, so Matt had offered to drive on the way there, so me and him could stay in the city centre, and visit a couple of the city's historic pubs. It sounded like a good plan, but unfortunately, there was a bridge collapse, while re-surfacing work on the motorway, was being carried out the night before. This meant a 90 minute diversion, both ways, which was a real pain in the backside. We set off early, but it was nearly 1pm before we got to Liverpool. Me and Matt visited a couple of nice unspoilt old boozers, and had pie and chips in one of them (no Henderson's sadly), before going to meet Ruth and the kids. It was a long drive back, and when I got in, I had a cup of tea, and hit the hay. I took a couple of pics on the way to meet Ruth, of an area I've not seen before, looks pretty new, with some oddly-shaped buildings, at least one of which is a museum.

Definitely feel like I need some Waboom in my step today! :D Have a good one Guardians

I hope you have a restful day, nice shot of Waboom !

Although the wife insisted I was having salad🥺

He's looking sweeter tonight, will be getting home made freckles for desert 🙂.

Tasty looking dinner !
