I recognised the photo mate, that day crops up in my daydreams regularly! Thanks, Jack. Prior to when I took that pic, we’d been staring directly into the sun the whole game. Then again, that was the game where we sat in the section with all you can eat food and beer, so I couldn’t complain too much.

I'll definitely check it outI still have a few other episodes I haven’t caught up on, but I wanted to listen to the newest one with Charlie, and then got the pleasant surprised of hearing our Guardians knife come up in the conversation.
And if you're reading this Alain, get that Sheepsfoot out of the Guardians thread!Good to see you here, Alain!I’m assuming that’s an entry for the GAW? I’m surprised we haven’t seen many mustards in the entries we’ve had (other than I think one bottle of English mustard).
Tool Man has a weekly Tuesday evening gathering, called 'The Swimming Club', which has been going since he was at school. Originally, they went swimming, but that didn't last long. He is also the only original member. They sit around outside Tool Man's shed, drinking cheap, strong lager, and talking ill-informed nonsenseA few years back I had a group that met monthly at my house called "The Cheap Bourbon Philosophical Society". We'd pick a philosophy-adjacent book to read (Plato's Symposium, Neal Stephenson's Anathem, etc) and then discuss it over bourbon. My rules for selecting the bourbon were simple: it had to taste really good, and cost less than $30 a bottle. There are a lot of bourbons that fit into that criteria! (Even today, eight or so years later, there's a lot of great sub-$30 bourbons out there. ) Knob Creek and Wild Turkey 101 are great examples. I'm fond of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond, too. My go-to, if I could only have one, would be Buffalo Trace.

Podcasts seem to be ideal for listening to while drivingHad not caught that one yet, now I’ve got a reason to look forward to my Monday commute! Usually I can fit about half one of their episodes during the drive in and the last part on the way home.
For some lamb content, here’s my Waynorth 93 catching some rays.

Many years ago, I had a hard-drinking friend, who was great conversation. We would often drink into the wee hours, discussing philosophy, politics, and life. In addition to beer, he had a penchant for strong, 100 proof spirits, (there was only place in Sheffield that sold 'Polish Spirit', and it was 4 times the price of whisky), and I would often gift him a quarter bottle. Early one morning, we were just passing from one subject to another, and I asked him, "Just before we start on 'The Meaning of Life', (or whatever it was), would you like another beer?" I got two beers out of the fridge, and handed him one. Sitting down again, I watched, as he poured himself a shot of spirit, and tipped it back. He continued to talk again, pulled the tab on the can of beer, then mid-sentence, he lost consciousness , and just swung to the side of the sofa, like a metronome, with the beer still in his hand! One second he seemed fine, the next he was unconscious!Great lamb Tyson. How does all that cerebral activity work with Bourbon?

When I wrote for outdoor magazines, I spent most of my week out in the countryside, walking, climbing, and testing equipment. It was great!I think about those days frequently myself!
Tool Man doesn't look like much of a swimmer to me. I nearly spit out my coffee with the last line.Tool Man has a weekly Tuesday evening gathering, called 'The Swimming Club', which has been going since he was at school. I admire his constitution Jack. Many years ago, I had a hard-drinking friend, who was great conversation. We would often drink into the wee hours, discussing philosophy, politics, and life. No, I guess that's why he swapped it for sitting around, talking rubbish, with his idiot friends!Tool Man doesn't look like much of a swimmer to me. I nearly spit out my coffee with the last line.![]()
Yes, indeed, I always try to remember thatAs much as technology drives me crazy, this community wouldn't exist without it, so for that, I am thankful.![]()
I haven't seen him since the 1980's I'm afraid Bob, but hope he's doing wellI admire his constitution Jack.![]()
LOL!One of our golfers has 3 beers before starting, about 8 during the round and 2 after. While drinking the two, he ponders why he always loses.![]()
You have quite a constitution yourself my friendWhile I still have beverages on my mind, thanks to Barrett's condiment GAW, I'll post some photos of Union Jack with beverages.
Union Jack with my morning coffee back in the days when I used to heat OJ and stir in some Folgers Instant. Now I heat milk and stir in Folgers Instant, and pour OJ on my cereal.
This is a vacation shot in which the late afternoon sun is shining through the door and turning Union Jack a brilliant orange.
I seldom drink IPAs, but when I do, it's usually Founders Centennial IPA.
Probably the porter I buy most frequently, since it's almost always available and often at a discounted price.

LOL!
I wish Buffalo Trace met my last criteria but it seems I never see it on a shelf when I look for my next bottle.A few years back I had a group that met monthly at my house called "The Cheap Bourbon Philosophical Society". Thanks Bob, it’s nice to get a little down time.Oh yes it is, thanks.
Glad you can relax a bit.
I hope our friend is doing well.
That's one sport I don't think I can master. No, I guess that's why he swapped it for sitting around, talking rubbish, with his idiot friends!Very occasionally, he will share some 'pearl of wisdom' that has evidently dripped from the slavering jowls of one of the 'swimmers', and I have to pull him up on it
Yes, indeed, I always try to remember that![]()
I haven't seen him since the 1980's I'm afraid Bob, but hope he's doing well
LOL!Here, professional darts players used to be notorious for heavy boozing while they were playing!
I have nothing but admiration for anyone who is prepared to climb through the ropes, you have to have courage to do it, but some of the mismatch contests that are signed off on by officials is nothing short of a disgrace. It has been another nail in the sport of the sweet science. Punters got sick of opponents getting slaughtered and knew they were being robbed and shafted, and that is apart from the chance of serious injury. Rant for the week.Yeah, that was it, but I think he was well clear on points anyway![]()
