Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

After breakfast the next day, we walked along the city walls, past the Minster, and onto a couple of antique shops, but found nothing worth buying.

We caught a wee road-train to the National Railway Museum, which is always impressive.

We had Taylor Beer and chip butties in The Maltings pub 😋👍

Jack how did that come about?

It looks just like my CJ in pattern.

My I-XL Barlow is a different shape.
All Sheffield firms made a lot of use of outworkers at one time John, and even contracted out work to other firms, so blades could easily get mixed up, or more likely, old superfluous parts would be put together by a cutler to make a few extra quid
@Campbellclanman , Jack Black Jack Black
Wow, Jack and Duncan, that sounds amazing! I wish I could have been there. York is such a magical place, and my one visit there many years ago is still one of my favorites. I wish I had known Jack back then.
I'm not sure if the Maltings Pub is still the same as it was when my son took us there, but it was a great place to have a few drinks. I had my first "bangers and mash" meal there, which I almost always have when I visit our local Irish pub.
I wish you could have been there too Gary, and I don't think The Maltings had changed much. We went there, specifically because it is your favourite York pub :)
Chip butties love em, I also like a good chip shop curry sauce and mushy peas.

Pity they dont wrap em in newspaper any more.
They've not been the same since John :D
Do you remember the Tough of the Track comic strip he always had fish and chips before a race wrapped in the sports pages which often gave him a tip to help him win.

He was my inspiration when I competed in the Army though they only ever gave us a weedy salad before a race and so my best was only ever secound, now if I had been given chips. 😁

Fantastic to see your amazing Christopher Johnson Lamb mate, I don't think they come better  Alf Tupper was definitely one of my favourites, as he was one of my old climbing partners (chip butties are pretty traditional with climbers). They were great stories, Alf would always have to do a coal round to help out, or carry an old feller on his back to get him to hospital, but he'd still beat the toffs to win the race! :D
Great pics Jack !

And yours Duncan ! 👍

More great pics !

So glad you and Jack got to spend time together !

Thanks buddy !
Thanks a lot for the kind words Steve :)
Could you get me the phone number of the lass with the ridiuclously long necklace please. 😇
LOL! :D I just did a search on 'Yorkshire's best-looking Mayor', but I reckon our girl has her beat (if she is indeed a Mayor)! 🤣

British engineering at it's finest. The Mallard one of the best ever built. And a couple of well constructed " Butty's ".

It was Gary, we got talking to the Director of the Railway Museum, and her father, who is Senior Economics Editor of a newspaper I used to freelance for decades ago (it was later, I remembered I knew another colleague of his) :) That Bangers & Mash looks delicious mate, I had it just the other night, but I messed up, and forgot to cook the vegetables, so ended up having baked beans! 🤣

Looks tasty, you must get fed up with all these Yorkshire cliches Jack.🤭

You wont catch me blathering on about them. 😁

Have you told everybody about your award winning Yorkshire Airline?

I know plenty of walking cliches John! :D I was telling Duncan that when I first heard my mate Tool Man say, "Well, you don't really need to go outside Yorkshire, do you?" I thought he was joking! 🤣 Yes, we've had the Yorkshire Airline a few times! :D

Love the train pics !

Market regular, Owd Brian, had an interesting employment career, and worked on steam trains from being a boy, eventually driving them. I once asked him what had been his favourite job, it was working on the bins (collecting refuse)! :D He said it was because he worked with a great bunch of blokes :) Sure enough, when one of them passed away, he left Brian his house, which has set Brian and his missus up for the rest of their lives. One of their first adventures was to go off on the Orient Express :)

Steam engines are fascinating 👍🤠

It's been five years since I last saw my pal Duncan, and so I have been looking forward to his visit immensely. His wife, Sue, was staying with her mom, up in the North West, so it was a Boys Only trip to York, and our 2 days there absolutely flew by :) Every street corner, and building, in York, is rich with history, so we spent a lot of time just walking around, but also fitted in 3 great pubs, a couple of chip butties, an interesting curry, and looked round a few antique shops, and the National Railway Museum - we even met the Director of the museum, having a pint with her dad, in Peregrin Peregrin 's favourite York pub  I didn't take too many pics, but Duncan took more :) Here's a few of mine, going up to lunchtime on Thursday ;)

Looks like a great visit for both of you!
