Have a great weekend everyone !
VividHere are my most recent photos of Union Jack, taken almost exactly 2 years ago. (When I moved the photos from camera to laptop and "processed" them before saving to my Union Jack file, I messed around with a "dramatic filter" that apparently makes everything more vivid than "real life". Interesting, but I don't think I'd like to live in a world THAT vivid!![]()

Heavy feelings coming in as we leave early Friday Morning on the long, long, looooooong flights back home.
Jack my friend, we will meet up again a few more times yet - a MASSIVE thank you Jack. It’s a real privilege to call you my friend.
I had to whip out the eTalk dumb flip phone I carry to check your message, Barrett!Needless to say, I send almost NO test messages. As Election Day nears, I probably receive at least 6 political texts per day, many of which have embedded video, and I don't know how to read them - I can't seem to scroll them up or down, so I just see one little screenful of each. At least I can use the phone for receiving authentication codes for logging into, say, my Social Security account!

I have no idea how those jackolanterns are carved!Do the varying colors come from different thicknesses of the "wall"?
Incredible "art"!![]()
I hope everyone is having a great dayI was swaddled in 4 layers of prime wool for the market, but it was actually quite a sunny morning, and not as cold as it had been the day before. Poor Zoe still looked perished on the bread stall, which is inside the market, but in a rather exposed spot opposite one of the entrances. She was very pleased with her fan-heater, and swapped me a loaf of sourdough. Down at the stall, there was quite a feast assembled, Gravel had bought sausage rolls, and Boring Ray had baked 3 loaves of his speciality bread, with black pudding, sun-dried tomatoes, and beetroot, respectively. Talking me through the fare, Tool Man pointed out that Extremely Violent Carpark Dave's wife had baked us a coconut cake, which I should be sure to try. I'm not sure what they had been cutting the cake with, before I arrived, but they may have been keeping the knives away from Extremely Violent Carpark Dave, who had called in on his way to work.
While Tool Man had a quiet day in terms of selling tools, it was extremely busy BEHIND the stall, with Otley Mick, Slimline Scott, Old Shirley, Barry The Original Ted, Jam Man, Big Dave, Ex-Para Steve, and Harry Hotballs all visiting. As always, it was a very good crack, with a lot of scoffing, laughing, and mischief. There were many recounted tales, including a story about a couple of the old Teds, Stern Tony and Gay Bob, which had me laughing. As morning slid into afternoon, Gravel went to purchase several portions of bhajis, which Tool Man scoffed most of, before going off to see Barber Brian. At that point, I decided to head off, as I have an online work meeting later

Boring Ray and Slimline Scott having a riveting discussion about some obscure matter of Rock & Roll trivia. That's Harry Hotballs in the background (left).
Kind-hearted Gravel listening to one of Shirley's tales of woe.

Aye carumba - this thread is on a tear!
I still have about 10 (11?) pages of catching up to do but, sadly, it will have to wait.
My birthday is tomorrow - I'll be turning eleventy-one -- and know less than half of you half as well as I should like, and like less than half of you half as well as you deserve... damnit, I've gone and confused myself with Bilbo Baggins again!!
Back on track - I'm turning 46 (I think. Who cares?), haven't drank in over 20 years, and have been left with the responsibility of making sure that the house is presentable for the guests of tomorrow's planned birthday tea party! Obviously, I've waited until the last moment and am now scrambling to get this house in order... or at the least, hide all of the knives that are laying around as children will be in attendance!
A special day calls for a special lamb and so I've dug out this mammoth-covered Old Man Jack from Titusville Cutlery Co minted in 2021! Hope the rest of the Guardians are having a more leisurely Friday than I! Mockingbird, wish me luck!!
