My birthday is tomorrow - I'll be turning eleventy-one -- and know less than half of you half as well as I should like, and like less than half of you half as well as you deserve... damnit, I've gone and confused myself with Bilbo Baggins again!!
Back on track - I'm turning 46 (I think. Who cares?), haven't drank in over 20 years, and have been left with the responsibility of making sure that the house is presentable for the guests of tomorrow's planned birthday tea party! Obviously, I've waited until the last moment and am now scrambling to get this house in order... or at the least, hide all of the knives that are laying around as children will be in attendance!
A special day calls for a special lamb and so I've dug out this mammoth-covered Old Man Jack from Titusville Cutlery Co minted in 2021! Hope the rest of the Guardians are having a more leisurely Friday than I! Mockingbird, wish me luck!!
Belated Birthday Greetings, Will!

You certainly succeeded in finding a special lambsfoot for your special day!

I hope all your celebrations were just as successful and enjoyable!
Intriguing knife, especially the big federal shield, Dwight!

Thanks, David.
Evening all
Been and about all Saturday.
Had Jb lamb
Look at you flex with Bex, Mitch!

Thanks for the supportive feedback, Jack.
Hey, that's NOT Jake, FBC!!

I'm such a clueless Guardian that I didn't even realize that you had "collected the whole set" of HHBs!
Thanks, David (but not as vivid as it appears

).
Morning Guardians! Another nice sunny autumn day. Big Eb today.

Big Eb is a champ of his weight class, David!

Glad you were able to decipher it, GT.

I’ve had more than my fill of political texts this past month.

I’ve been blocking and reporting numbers right and left, but it’s doesn’t seem to make much difference.
I believe they thin them out a bit from the inside, and then carve them from the outside so the light shines through more where they carve. They also appear to use black paint to enhance the darkest parts of the image. You can see some of the process in this local news piece about the event.
...
Happy Birthday, Will! Hope you have a good one!
Barrett, I think part of the reason for all the political texts I get is that my wife did our most recent business with Verizon for our cell phones, so I think all the phones are "in her name", and she's a registered Democrat (while I always claim independence from political parties and claim I vote on "character" whenever possible). So many of the texts I get are addressed to her by name, and most are requests for donations to her preferred party.
Thanks for the additional info on the incredible pumpkin carving!

I like the all-lambsfoot birthday greetings graphic! Is that new??

Thanks, Jack.

My point-and-shoot Canon uses 2 AAA batteries, and I typically use rechargeables; I have 2 pairs of batteries that I rotate. I recently (Sunday) recharged both pairs, and am already getting a flashing red low battery alert after fewer than 2 days and 12 photos! I suspect my rechargeables aren't as much so as they once were.
The mail call today brought me my first two Sheffield Lambs Foot knives! Rosewood on the left and Ebony on the right. I'm really very happy with them!

Congrats on a pair of splendid lambs!

I have a real "soft spot" for the basic lambsfoot models; I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine!
My latest plan is to find five or so recipes that look good, from whatever of my many cookbooks, and buy the ingredients for those and rotate them.
I use an alternative related to your proposal. I basically have ONE breakfast recipe whose ingredients can be chosen from a lengthy list of fruits, nots, seeds, and cereals, and I switch from day to day which particular set of ingredients I'll use. Similarly, I have ONE supper recipe that is essentially a vegetable casserole baked in the microwave, and I rotate what vegetables, meats, and seasonings I use from day to day.
Outstanding, both photo and knife!!

Jb lamb,
Or the workhorse ad Steve called it
I wish I'd bought more of those when they were easily available
It's not complex, I just

Bex!

Thanks kindly Gary, I do like my "road least taken" wood.
I am always amazed at the longativity of some knives shown here on the forum.

Many Thanks my friend!
We did have a great trip, this one was more of a Family trip- I think this was really needed for Sue and myself, Sue has a wonderful Family and I know she misses them greatly.
Trip home was quite tortuous lol, but we are here, and my treasured Cutlery made it all the way back with me too! I will post up a bit later in other threads once I have a few days breather- I have work tomorrow, so need to get ready and face what is waiting for me
Glad to hear that you enjoyed your "globe-trotting", Ducan!

I appreciate your characteristic encouragement, Jack.

Thanks.

I had to look up Ray H and wasn't surprised the name wasn't familiar, since my cinematic knowledge is quite thin. I've liked classical mythology since I was quite young, and have read quite a lot in that area, but have seen few films of that genre. I enjoyed watching a clip from "Jason and the Argonauts" with the skeleton troopers! Scrawny guys with NO muscle at all, but they moved quite well!

Somehow it reminds me of this

You're in good company!!
Hello, Dali!
I don't care much for Halloween decor but that right there is AWESOME...
Yeah, we never put out any Halloween decorations, but I enjoy walking around seeing the elaborate displays some folks put out. There were some yards with scary stuff before September 15 this year!

Bob's
Rufus1949
estimation contests/GAWs in the past couple of months have undermined my confidence in my ability to perform practical mathematical computations!

Did you all know that I did so poorly in his August contest that generous Bob decided to give me a consolation prize (a splendid old non-lambsfoot knife) to console me for having the worst guess of anyone??
