Great looking lambsfoot 😎
Apparently it's a Central/South American thing to set off fireworks for any occasion at all. Mother's Day, Easter, Indigenous People's Day (sorry Columbus, you've fallen out of favor it would seem...), and all the rest. I'm so over it.

If we had a day set aside for quiet personal contemplation (not an entirely bad idea...) it would just become another excuse to set off fireworks.

And then there's this:

Me too. Especially when they're strapped to sledgehammers...

I was thinking this. Without too much effort, I'm fairly certain I could figure out how to launch a projectile fairly accurately using fireworks as a propellant.

Thanks for the kind words, Jack. As I'm sure you know, that's where parts of the movie were filmed! I think it's neat that John Muir (of Muir Woods fame) camped out in it for a few months in one of his journeys east. Apparently he was quite taken with it as well. 😍

Ever come across a Calamondin tree? If so, I'd recommend! An Asian hybrid between a mandarin orange and a kumquat, IIRC, with sour juice and sweet edible rinds - I just pop em in my mouth and try to avoid the pits! Also great for seasoning seafood dishes and spiced cider!

I've got a lancepod tree that does the same. Difference is I have a decidedly laissez-faire approach to landscaping and thus, let them lay where they fall! πŸ˜‚

Rest up, Jack! Probably ogling L'Arriete has worn them out! Give those peepers a proper break!!

Halloween was a double-lambfoot day at Bonaventure Cemetery, and here is Endurance and a Harvey on one of the old waterworks pumps. The cemetery sits on a bluff overlooking the Wilmington River and these pumps were used to supply water to the grounds prior to it being connected to Savannah's municipal water system. More info on the plaque.

Be good (well, as much as is possible...), Guardians!
Individual fireworks are banned in most states here. So you get the odd goose around new year.

Will I would leave the flowers but for 2 reasons.
They get walked inside and when it rains becomes slippery, I have enough injuries πŸ˜‰. Due more storms this afternoon.
Have a good day.

Hope you had a good one Pete :) No callers for me again, so I have 2 bags of Halloween candy on my kitchen table Matt's kids can have :D
Excellent Plan B Jack! πŸ˜‰πŸ€
It's a broke piece of an artifact. Use to hunt arrowheads in the plowed fields after a rain. Osage Flint is a local Flint that is tan or a golden color before it was heat treated. After heat treatment it turns a reddish color usually.
David that is very interesting and thank you for sharing! I am typically looking for signs of ancient man when I am out in the field. πŸ™ŒπŸ€

I spent the week in Bremerton, Washington for work, getting back home last night. I was fortune enough to be able to get onboard my first submarine, which was in drydock and early in the process of being dismantled. The visit brought back a lot of memories from my time onboard the boat. I was able to get some sweet swag while I was there, including these decommissioning coins, patches, and a hat (not shown). But by far the best thing I was given when I was there was this piece of anchor chain from the ship's anchor.

Here's a cool picture of her back in her glory days (I was actually onboard when this one was taken).

Another highlight from my trip was getting to have dinner and good conversation with Joefairbanks Joefairbanks . Ken is as good as they come, and I was very grateful he was willing to give up some time to come have dinner with me.

Bremerton also has a very well put together and pretty comprehensive 9/11 memorial that I was able to visit. Here is a piece of the steel taken from the rubble of the twin towers.

Throughout the trip, this fantastic Cosimo lamb was with me.

I thought so Bob, brass was really Trevor Ablett's signature, in his later years at least. I do like the look of copper, but it is very unusual, and I don't think you'll find copper bolsters on an old Sheffield knife

Fascinating David  I have a couple of arrowheads that friends here have sent me, and I think they're wonderful :)

A shame we couldn't get out of the other end of the graveyard Duncan! :D It was a pleasure to be in your company my friend :)

Thanks a lot Steve :)

LOL! :D Thanks Charlie :) When I called round at Matt's, his kids were away at their grandmother's. He told me they already had plenty of candy, so I took the 2 bags of lollies to town, with us, and handed them out. Mainly to kids, but a lot of grown-ups with a sweet tooth too! :D

Beautiful knife buddy, and a great shot

Sweet K'roo my friend, and a lovely photo :)

They do go together well  :)

Sweet David  :)

Wow Will, what an interesting post  Your photos reminded me of Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil (I have only seen the Clint Eastwood directed movie) Fantastic photos to go with a fascinating story :)

I hope everyone is having a good day :) I enjoyed catching up with my friends, over lunch and a couple of pints, and Wolfie even made a brief appearance :D  Also today, I received an incredibly thoughtful package from Jeremy sbh06 sbh06 , who had very kindly offered to make me a new wallet :) I have several pocket slips of Jeremy's, and his skills are amazing. I'm afraid my photos, taken this evening, really don't do the wallet justice, but it is beautifully crafted :) He also sent me some Virginia peanuts, and since I love nuts, I am really looking forward to trying them πŸ˜‹ Thank you once again, Jeremy

Awesome Jack! Jeremy makes mighty fine tack!
Mesmerizing Dwight.
Wow, those really do look more like stickers than stamps! I bought some Alex Trebek stamps recently that I thought were interesting. The sheet of stamps looked like a Jeopardy board with categories and clues.

That’s great, Charlie! We’re at the end of a dead end street on top of a hill, and the house is sort of hidden by trees as you look down the street, so we don’t ever get very many trick-or-treaters.

Those go together nicely!

Had an excellent mail day today. I received this fantastic @Cosimo De Benedetto Lambsfoot, a very generous gift from Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 β€” thank you again, Paul! It’s a beautiful knife, with a fantastic walk and talk, and nice and thin behind the edge. I got the pocket slip for it from Jeremy sbh06 sbh06 a while back, and both went straight into my pocket this afternoon.

Edited to add: this one is lucky number 13. 😎
What a beautiful lamb Barrett. Way to go Paul & Jeremy! Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 sbh06 sbh06
Stunner!

Nice ! πŸ‘

I’m enjoying some afternoon coffee to help adjust to the time change. The Albers stag lamb is keeping me company.
