Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I hope everyone is having a good day :) I enjoyed catching up with my friends, over lunch and a couple of pints, and Wolfie even made a brief appearance :D  Also today, I received an incredibly thoughtful package from Jeremy sbh06 sbh06 , who had very kindly offered to make me a new wallet :) I have several pocket slips of Jeremy's, and his skills are amazing. I'm afraid my photos, taken this evening, really don't do the wallet justice, but it is beautifully crafted :) He also sent me some Virginia peanuts, and since I love nuts, I am really looking forward to trying them 😋 Thank you once again, Jeremy
Nice wallet Jack. 🙂 Jeremy sure is a good dude, and a good friend.

My wife brought these "stickers" home. It turns out, they are new forever postage stamps.View attachment 2699986

Wow, those really do look more like stickers than stamps! I bought some Alex Trebek stamps recently that I thought were interesting. The sheet of stamps looked like a Jeopardy board with categories and clues.

We had over 200 little "Trick or Treaters" last night!!👻👻👻👻
Thank god they took all the candy - just a few chips left!!😁

That’s great, Charlie! We’re at the end of a dead end street on top of a hill, and the house is sort of hidden by trees as you look down the street, so we don’t ever get very many trick-or-treaters.

I’ve been keeping these two on me a lot lately. They go together well I think.

Those go together nicely!

Had an excellent mail day today. I received this fantastic Cosimo De Benedetto Cosimo De Benedetto Lambsfoot, a very generous gift from Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 — thank you again, Paul! It’s a beautiful knife, with a fantastic walk and talk, and nice and thin behind the edge. I got the pocket slip for it from Jeremy sbh06 sbh06 a while back, and both went straight into my pocket this afternoon.

Edited to add: this one is lucky number 13. 😎

You received a beauty Barrett.😍
Wonderful gesture from Paul.💥

Thanks Jack !

Nice wallet !
Thank you Steve :)
Great pic buddy, that knife has some excellent stag
Very nice Jack. Extremely thoughtful of Jeremy.😍
Thank you Bob, I don't think you can beat a handmade gift :)
I had 3 fruit trees turn up last week. Even though I only have two acres I’ve done my best to cram it full of edible things. I’d have to count but it’d be over 30 fruit trees now (about 12 of those different fig varieties - I love figs!).

Jujube is one of my favourite fruits - think a very sweet apple without the juice and a date pip instead of an apples core. This one is to cross pollinate with my other variety and improve fruit set.

Also got a loquat to replace the one our pet sheep ate - after eating about $200 worth of trees he went to a “new home”.

Lastly, a wampee. This is a new one to me, Flynn found the catalogue of an online shop I use and came to me one day asking for a wampee. I thought why not? Apparently an Asian relative of citrus that produces grape like fruit.

Sounds like a great use of your land Jack, I love figs too :) The other stuff, I've not heard of! :D ;) Cool pic
Glad it arrived safely, Jack! My son wanted a can of the honey roasted so we can confirm those ones that great.
Thanks again my friend, the peanuts look delicious :)
Stellar choice Dwight  :)
Yay! Spam and eggs! :D :)

You are most welcome, Barrett. A fine knife Cosimo made you. Honestly don’t know of a custom maker that has taken on a 15 knife run and been as successful. His consistency knife to knife is shockingly good. A lot of hard work and dedication to one’s craft.

Last day for Valley Jack's current turn as lambsfoot of the week. I hope when his time runs out he isn't swept into the city sewer system like rain storm runoff on the streets! ;) He does enjoy hanging out on manhole covers.

Afternoon all.
Brian today

Running late spent a lot of time cleaning up the purple rain, Jacaranda drops a lot of flowers & it's the neighbors tree😢 not the greatest pic I couldn't see the picture clearly but you get the gist.
Cool pics Mitch :)
Evening all
Rump steak for Sunday dinner
I added some bacon🤫😉
Nobody ever complains about extra bacon! :D

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a great weekend :) I seem to have a bit of a problem with my eyesight today, it's a bit blurry. Hoping it clears up. I might lie down, and close them for a bit. I'm hoping I can just do a few things in the house today ;) Have a good one Guardians

Sorry to hear that. I think my short-range vision may have taken a downturn recently.
I keep meaning to find that book I have on Eyeless Sight, just in case, but there isn't that much to the book, as I recall: throw your mind into your (facial) cheeks, and you can learn to see with those skin cells.
The other cheeks obviously would not be socially acceptable in some cultural milieus.

Hope it improves through the day Jack. Must be frustrating with your work schedule.

The graciousness of members here is so refreshing to see.

Hope it improves Jack, could be dry eyes. Every once in a while mine get a bit blurry when dry and eye drops usually help.

Great pic of your Cosimo Lamb 👍

This November on next year's calendar: Cumberland Island National Seashore in the USA. All us USAians know it well.

When I moved here 20-odd years, I was amazed at the Sikh fireworks, now I'm so jaded, I don't even bother looking out of the window! 🤣

Apparently it's a Central/South American thing to set off fireworks for any occasion at all. Mother's Day, Easter, Indigenous People's Day (sorry Columbus, you've fallen out of favor it would seem...), and all the rest. I'm so over it.

If we had a day set aside for quiet personal contemplation (not an entirely bad idea...) it would just become another excuse to set off fireworks.

And then there's this:

I hate fireworks

Me too. Especially when they're strapped to sledgehammers...

It's strange that they're so available here, when virtually everything else is banned

I was thinking this. Without too much effort, I'm fairly certain I could figure out how to launch a projectile fairly accurately using fireworks as a propellant.

Wow Will, what an interesting post  Your photos reminded me of Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil (I have only seen the Clint Eastwood directed movie) Fantastic photos to go with a fascinating story :)

Thanks for the kind words, Jack. As I'm sure you know, that's where parts of the movie were filmed! I think it's neat that John Muir (of Muir Woods fame) camped out in it for a few months in one of his journeys east. Apparently he was quite taken with it as well. 😍

Lastly, a wampee. This is a new one to me, Flynn found the catalogue of an online shop I use and came to me one day asking for a wampee. I thought why not? Apparently an Asian relative of citrus that produces grape like fruit.

Ever come across a Calamondin tree? If so, I'd recommend! An Asian hybrid between a mandarin orange and a kumquat, IIRC, with sour juice and sweet edible rinds - I just pop em in my mouth and try to avoid the pits! Also great for seasoning seafood dishes and spiced cider!

Running late spent a lot of time cleaning up the purple rain, Jacaranda drops a lot of flowers & it's the neighbors tree

I've got a lancepod tree that does the same. Difference is I have a decidedly laissez-faire approach to landscaping and thus, let them lay where they fall! 😂

I seem to have a bit of a problem with my eyesight today, it's a bit blurry. Hoping it clears up. I might lie down, and close them for a bit.

Rest up, Jack! Probably ogling L'Arriete has worn them out! Give those peepers a proper break!!

Halloween was a double-lambfoot day at Bonaventure Cemetery, and here is Endurance and a Harvey on one of the old waterworks pumps. The cemetery sits on a bluff overlooking the Wilmington River and these pumps were used to supply water to the grounds prior to it being connected to Savannah's municipal water system. More info on the plaque.
