Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians, foggy and raining here again, rather miserable weather. I hope everyone is OK, and survived Christmas. I'm hoping to hook up with Matt today, though my lower back has been troubling me a bit the past few days. Wolfie took his family to the coast for a few days, and I don't think he'll be back until after the weekend. With the way the festivities fell this year, I suspect the city centre will be full of boozers, but they may be saving their money for New Year. Who knows? There never seems to be any shortage of cash in Leeds, all the restaurants were packed yesterday, as were the shopping precincts and malls. I haven't quite decided what I feel like doing yet, but of course, I'll be carrying a Lambsfoot :D Have a great day Guardians

Nice flock ! 😍

I've just been out to post my letter, and called in at Charlie's for coffee and a Danish pastry, followed by a slow walk home, as I bumped into various neighbours. I got home to two synchronised surprises, from my generous friends in California, Mr & Mrs Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright , from whom I received a Lovely Christmas card, and a Thanksgiving gift, in the form of some delicious-looking locally produced olive oils, which I'm really looking forward to sampling 😋 Thank you my friends, for sharing more of the wonderful local bounty :)

Tyson A Wright Tyson A Wright Well done! 😍

I've been thinking about blade length, and how specific my preferences are depending on which type of blade I'm using. With clips or spears any length from about 2½" to 4" seems to work and feel fine to me, but with straight-edged blades I'm much more particular. With coping or sheepfoot blades I rarely like them if over about 2¼ inches. This is somewhat understandable as they are specialty blades. With the much more utilitarian lambsfoot I want a little more length, but not too much. RALF comes in at 2.79" from bolster to tip and is just right. Gidge (Albers) is a touch shorter at 2.69" but still seems fine. The lambsfoot on the #88 Gator is 2.97" and seems ungainly long to me. I'm interested in your thoughts on lambsfoot blade length, Guardians!

I have a comparatively small flock, so take my two cents with a grain of salt, but I like my lambsfoot blades long and slim. I don't have a specific number in mind, but proportionally they have to be along the lines of the WCLF, Harry's TEW, or my KHLamb.

Although no Guardians have been clamoring for this information, I'll still tell you that the week of Nov. 24-30 was a busy one for my wife and me (and for Gandalf, our dog). Our daughter and son-in-law (and their dog, Cash) stayed with us that entire week. They've decided that they'll celebrate Christmas with us at Thanksgiving each year going forward, and celebrate Christmas with Isaac's extended family in Minnesota at Christmas time. That seems fine to me, since 9 hours of car travel each way to get from MN to our house, or vice versa, can be dicey in late December. Unfortunately, even late November weather can turn quite wintry, and this year we had 11+ inches of snow the day before they left to return to MN, but their trip home was uneventful, with little snow once they left Michigan.

The lambsfoot I carried during that "holiday week" was Lam Jack, my 2017 horn Guardians lambsfoot (thanks, mrknife mrknife ):

Since THIS week is almost over, I should note that my Lambsfoot of the Week for this week has been Valley Jack, my 2019 desert ironwood Guardians lambsfoot:

I'm glad they made it home through the snow Gary, nice Lamb choices :)

Looks tasty Leon, as does your Charlie Lamb 😋 I was going to carry mine today, but have pocketed another recently neglected Lambsfoot, my 2018 Ebony Guardians Lambsfoot

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone well, and still in a festive mood. Personally, I always find it drags a bit, and am glad when we get into the new year. My replacement coffee machine sould be arriving today, so I hope this one works better than the last one  I think I'm going to just potter about today, but I have a work meeting at 6pm. I think this is probably my favourite of the 3 Guardians Lambs I think made up. While it should have been the simplest, it was actually the biggest pain in the backside to get made up  I wonder where they all are now. Have a good day Guardians

I

Today is my quasi day off work, but this Sunday really is a day to myself, because the church I volunteer at is meeting at another church. ("They" must be working on consolidating small congregations.)

So, dishes and laundry, exercise and shopping, and maybe a small road trip or a larger outdoor project. Highs in the 40s,and we're already there.
