Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

After our Saturday afternoon walk, we went to find the cottage I had rented. I knew where it was, and it turned out to be beautiful, with 3 bedrooms, a couple of bathrooms, and a lovely kitchen :)

We even got the loan of a teddy each! :D We had a cup of tea, and relaxed for a bit, then got ready to go out for food, at which point Wolfie disappeared again  I'd always wanted to eat at a well-reputed pie shop in Whitby, but it was always full :( This time we were lucky, and it turned out to be a great treat, and the service was fantastic, as well as the food :) Henderson's Relish on the table of course ;)

Wolfie had started behaving weirdly, and when we went to the Black Horse, my favourite pub, he announced he would just be drinking soda water 😣 Me and Matt had a few pints, and soaked up the atmosphere of this wonderful pub :) We then decided to head back across the River Esk, and back up the hill, where our accommodation was located. There are some good pubs and bars nearby, and we called in a couple of them. Wolfie stuck to his soda water, and went to bed when we got in, while me and Matt stayed up drinking Islay whisky, and watch vintage Top of The Pops! :D

Thanks again for the pictures ! Did you figure out why Wolfie was acting weird ?

Afternoon Guardians! Hope y'all are having a nice day. Sure enjoying your pics and telling us of your trip Jack. Cloudy, cool and rainy. Serious lolligaggin today 🤠

Nice !

Did you get the parent's curse? I told my kids that I hoped their children would be just like them. My youngest son, knowing how he had behaved, said "Noooooooo". So far he has been lucky, his first son is very obedient. We'll see how the second son turns out (he's arriving in three weeks).

Congrats grandpop👍🏻 Hope all will be healthy.

Hello, Guardians. Took a mini hiatus from BF but I’m back. Had a wonderful time at Badger. Always enjoy being in the company of fellow BF members and in particular Guardians. We did not act like college kids and down a bottle of liquor but still had a blast. I’m awful about taking pictures and unfortunately did not snap one photo 🤦🏻.

My favorite pickup from Badger is this wonderful William Rodgers Lamb/spey in buffalo horn. What an incredible one. I have pulled Excalibur from the stone!!!! Excalibur being the Lamb of course and the stone being Barrett’s paws 😂. He is an obstacle when it comes to getting a knife from his collection. I’m sure he got tired of me asking and caved in 😁. Thanks Barrett for allowing me to trade for this epic knife. Have no idea of the age but I’m over the moon about it.

Didn’t get to carry my HHB last weekend so in the pocket it goes today.

Alright, I’ve changed my mind, I want it back.

Just kidding, of course. Enjoy it, Paul. 😁

Hope you had a fantastic time Paul :) That's an incredible William Rodgers  I hope Barrett drove a hard bargain! :D Great pics :)
Oh Barrett drives a hard bargain alright. Probably easier to talk the King of England out of his crown 😂😂.

It’s true that I don’t let go of knives easily, but Paul’s negotiation style is like the Colorado River winding its way through the Grand Canyon — he wears you down over time. 😉😁 It’s fitting, actually, that he finally talked me out of that knife at the “Badger” knife show. 🤣

Got the Hartshead Barlow with me now, shown here behind the Craven Arms, next to the old Cruck Barn

Great shot of your HHB, Jack.

The pub opened :)

Very cool looking old pub!

Thankfully, it wasn't too long before a farmer arrived with a tractor

Nice job getting that sign in the picture. Perfection! 🤣

The rain came hard and fast, and it poured down all night long, while the wind howled, but we were safe and snug inside the inn, drinking beer, and eating well 😋👍

Another cozy-looking establishment, and the food looks great, too! I think I could easily spend several contented hours there. 🙂

Had to put the William Rodgers in the pocket!!! I think this knife wants to murder my finger nails. Regular work night for me.

Thankfully, for the sake of this thread, the Lambsfoot is relatively easy to open. That other blade, though… 😳

Fantastic pics of the countryside and of your trip in general, Jack. (And I mean all of the pics, of course, I just couldn’t quote ‘em all.) 😉 As you know, we got to drive around the Southwest of England quite a bit on our visits when my brother lived in Bath, and I was always amazed by the amount of beautiful, open countryside in such a densely populated country.

With a shimmer of the screen, and some mildly spooky music, let me take you back to last Friday afternoon in the English Lake District, and our final stop before we arrive in the town of Keswick. On the hills above the town, below the mountain of Skiddaw, in a truly spectacular setting, sit the standing stones of Castlerigg, dating back to around 3200 BC.

The ancient majesty of the stone circle, nor its legally protected status, did not stop the doltish Wolfie trying to scale one of them o_O

Perhaps the biting wind, whistling through his lug-holes had numbed what little grey matter exists between them

Amazing, Jack. What a cool thing to be able to go and see!

Old pic here, but somewhat appropriate as the lakes here have now returned to a liquid state. Ice out on Lake Minnetonka was this past Saturday. (This pic was taken on the fishing pier on Lake Ann in Chanhassen, MN.)

Thank you David, nice, clean pic of your FC Lamb buddy :)
Thanks gents. As I've said before lorna is on the spectrum, likes routine and alone time loves adult colouring books and spend hours doing them and won't be able to while healing. We can see a bit of frustration in the future 😃
I don't think I said Lorna got her drivers licence last month first go. Left it to the last minute literally. The test was her last day of learners permit, if failed would have had to apply for learners permit again😫
I hope Lorna can find something to occupy herself Mitch :) Congratulations to her on passing her test
Great pic Steve

Thanks again for the pictures ! Did you figure out why Wolfie was acting weird ?
In a word - Karen - Steve, even the story about walking the dog turned out to be a lie, but more fool Wolfie for putting up with it 😠
No Cap before its time!! 😂
Thanks for understanding Charlie :)
TGIF Guardians! Carried the Twisted today.

Good morning, Jack. I've always wondered, is Cillian pronounced Sillian or Killian, soft or hard C? Diego still riding the RFP.
