Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Gorgeous knife, though. If you can’t buff it out, I would hope contacting them would bring you eventual satisfaction. Not familiar with their warranty wording or CS, but I would expect them to exchange in light of the two defects.

I don't have a buffer (I recently bought a secondhand Dremel, but I've not had a chance to look at it yet), so in the past, I've just used Flitz, a soft cloth, and elbow grease, but it works. I'm a bit dubious about the area about the pin on the pile side though Dennis, could be a flaw? I certainly wouldn't have sent out that knife myself. It may be worth sending photos to the vendor to see what they have to say. Please let us know how it goes

Edit - Just to add that my friend @ADEE has a buffer, and gets some great results, even with ratty old knives he finds in the flea-market

Photos Good thinking Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::D

Thank you fellas!

Dennis that's a gorgeous knife mark & pile. I'd be tempted to keep it.
Thank you all for the great comments! Other than the two flaws, it is quite a nice knife, blade is centered, about a 5-6 on the pull, and nice F&F. The flaw around the pin looks worse in the photo, it's not too bad at all. Probably just try and buff it. First, I think I'll contact the vendor.

Thanks again!

Well Dennis, I'd be disappointed and reluctant to try a home remedy. You could end up with a divot instead of a scratch.
It's your 1st lambsfoot after all. :( My 2¢.

Ray
Thanks, Ray!
It's a bummer for sure, but I'll just have to figure it out.

That's good news about the pin, it's hard to tell with horn because it's made up of numerous very thin layers, which can catch the light and/or look like imperfections. At least you have photos of the knife as you received it, and I think it would be a good idea to contact the vendor irrespective of how you intend to proceed. Unless that scratch is deep, I think it should buff out fairly easily, but it shouldn't have been sent out like that. It's possible that the vendor didn't actually take it out of the clear plastic bag they come wrapped in, and didn't notice the scratch, even if he checked to see that the blade was centred (for example). Even though horn looks attractive on the various dealer sites, I generally recommend that folks buy Rosewood, at least for a first purchase, because no knives with horn (or stag) are the same, and the photos are often years out of date, and can be unrepresentative

Thank you. I have no idea. It was called “Vintage,” and looks it, but you know how loosely sellers play with wording. Purchased it quite reasonably(a bargain)on an auction site. I don’t generally like blade etches, but this one greatly appealed to me. I will know by Wednesday.

"Vintage" is a meaningless word isn't it? It certainly isn't old, I would think it was made within the last 20 years. Be nice to see more of it when you receive it my friend

My first lambsfoot shipped today, so hopefully I'll be in the fold in the next week or so. Pretty excited to get this one in hand.
Cool, look forward to the pics!
By the way Dennis - Welcome to the Guardians! :D
Thanks, and thanks for all your input, Jack, it is appreciated!;)

Yes...Welcome from another newby.
Thank you!!:)
i’ve been consumed(helps to be retired) looking for another Lamb Foot. I am waiting for this to arrive next week.

Please forgive the showing of the penblade.

Very nice!
Yes, this being retired can lead you down dangerous roads!:D:thumbsup:

I apologize for my lack of contribution to the thread since Sunday. Snow/ice removal and medications/appointments seem to be eating up most of my discretionary time recently. I'll respond almost randomly to a post or two on the first 8 of 16 most recent pages.

Thanks, Gary. Steroids work wonders!
At least in some cases. ;) I was taking post-surgery steroid anti-inflammatory eye drops that were driving my eye pressure up to worrisome levels. :(

...
Lookin’ good GT. A tasty and colourful plate.:)

Yeah, I dug up that post Jack was referring to on how to smooth out the walk’n’talk, and slightly lighten the apparent pull weight on stiff or gritty actioned knives.

There’s a bit of discussion preceding that post as well, regarding using abrasive compounds to lap in your pocket knife action, which came from a tip from Stan Shaw.

Oh, and yes, that’s the same ol’ prodigal Lambsfoot I lost for a few weeks GT, after using it in the field to harvest some tasty mushrooms. Absence sure did make the heart grow fonder in this case!
...
Thanks, as always, for the helpful info you provide, Chin!:cool:

I just thought all Lambsfoot knives had magical properties.
That's the Guardians' party line, John!;)

5K Qs 5K Qs LOL, I think my waste line is one of the main reasons.
Yeah, my experience has been you have to address that early and often to keep things under control, Taylor! ;)

...
I always enjoy your catch-up posts GT :)

Great colours, your 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot is looking good :)
...
Morning Guardians, hope everyone had a great weekend :) I'm adding some iron to my diet to start off the week ;)

Thanks for the supportive comments, Jack :); I do NOT enjoy catch-up posts nearly as much as ones where I'm addressing current posts.
Your ironwood lambsfoot certainly is memorable!!:cool::thumbsup:

I think we have a few Guardians who haven't yet asked to be added to the map. I made the decision when I started putting it together that I'd only add folks who requested to be added. Just trying to respect everyone's desired level of privacy/anonymity/etc.
I think that's wise policy, Barrett. :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I carry a lambsfoot because, I don't always have a box of wrenches on me.
VzIPRAj.jpg

Ok, it makes no sense, but I bought this little toolbox of wrenches Saturday for $7.50. Some of them have supped too full of battery acid, some are Chinese, some are USA, the two supporting the lambsfoot are made in England.
Cool pic of your lambsfoot, Jer.:thumbsup: Some wrenches metric, and some US customary?

Excellent, colorful pic of your ebony lambsfoot, Chin!:thumbsup::cool: An earlier discussion here makes me think that those of us who enjoy kimchi may be in the minority among the Guardians. :(

Funny, I haven't thought of Shari Lewis in eons.
Creative photo, Jer!:cool::thumbsup: What's the story behind having those 3 seemingly identical lambs foots? (I thought of Shari Lewis almost exactly a month ago: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/guardians-of-the-lambsfoot.1406735/page-513#post-18652784)

Sloppy joe and IPA... I'd say you are already a party animal. Gary. :D

Kind of you to grant me party animal status, FBC; takes one to know one, I guess.;);)
Nice pics of your oxhorn!:cool::thumbsup:

Great shot of the Eye looking right at us, David!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack, I've got to look like I'm on the straight and narrow some of the time. :p The wife and I were getting cabin fever yesterday, so we headed out to the casino for a quick try at the slots. We only take $20. each once its gone that's it. Also we only play the nickel machine's so it lasts longer  well I put my twenty bucks in pushed the button and bingo I won $10 once I win something I switch to another. So now I have $30 I put it in the new bandit first spin I win $15
That's it time to go home! as they say, quit while your ahead. :D
Gonna have start calling you Lucky Dave! ;):thumbsup: The only gambling I ever do is ordering knives online, and playing basketball at my age.

Hello to all. Here is my first Lambsfoot on its’ maiden voyage. If possible, could @btb01 add a pin to Buffalo Grove, IL. Thank you.

Welcome, cigarrodog cigarrodog ! :) That's an intriguing lambsfoot you've picked up for your opening gambit!:thumbsup::cool:

Betty, is that really you??? ;)

Great study-in-earth-tones photo, @Travman! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Wow, has it been that long? Not to worry, I'm doing well, but have been quite busy lately and haven't been finding much time for following, much less contributing to, the activity here. I'm woefully behind.

Thank you so much for your concern, my friend. I hope to be back to being a regular again soon, but, realistically, it'll probably be a few more weeks.

In the mean time, rest assured that there's almost always a lambsfoot with me. :)
Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and hope you can indeed join us more regularly (wait, who am I to talk??) in a few weeks.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Man Jack is rather unhappy with me, since I put him in my pocket on Monday but haven't posted him here until now! :(

Thanks GT, good to see both you and your Man Jack here

I haven't gone through them properly yet. A couple at least English, some American, some Chinese, some Japanese at a guess, some having imbibed too much battery acid ...

Man Jack huh? I've been lovin' the sway back but this one has great eye appeal. I like the
double bolsters and the no nonsense grip - real nice stag too. I've missed it if there have been
others like this one in these 588 pages but I'm noticin' today  :D
