Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hopefully those ospreys don’t extend the nest to the end of the insulator. Interesting to see glass insulators still in use. Around here everything is ceramic.

I was thinking the same thing, seems dangerously close to being fried osprey. 😳

Good morning Guardians, I'll probably be needing to return from the market early, for a nap, today, as I didn't get a lot of sleep last night  It's not raining at least, but we're definitely into Autumn here now. It was always my favourite season, but these days, we tend to go straight into Winter, which in Britain, means RAIN! 😖 I have Charlie's superb FC Lamb with me today :) Have a good one Guardians

Did a few days drinking with Bod wear you out? I know you’ve said before that he can really put ‘em away. 😁

I hope you get to enjoy some actual autumn, Jack, and not just rainy might-as-well-be-winter autumn.

Good morning Guardians !

Lovely bone on that old Lamb, Steve.

I'm totin' a Real Lamb Foot for market day. I hope everyone has a good one!

Nice shot of your GL-24. Some nice well-worn character to the Micarta on the pile side of your knife.

I hope everyone is having a good day. The weather has been ok today, with only a little rain so far, but it was decidedly quiet at the market. The Teds are off to some old Rockers event at the weekend, and Gravel has gone early. Golden Gordon was missing, and there was no sign of Harry Hotballs. I did briefly see Captain Birdseye, but he was not looking too well. Nobber Al called over briefly, but apart from that, our only visitor was Slimline Scott, who called in briefly during his lunch-hour. We did have a professional visitor though, in the form of a reporter, who was collecting comments for a story about the City Council's latest plans to screw over the market traders 🙄 Tool Man didn't take much brass in the 3 or 4 hours I was there, but his state pension kicks in this month, so he didn't seem too perturbed. Boring Ray was so quiet, he asked if I wanted to use anything on his stall as a backdrop for a knife photo or two. I was quite interested in a 'one-arm bandit' he had, though rather shocked by the £450 price tag. Tool Man remarked, "That's why it's still there!" 😆

Cool pic, Jack! 🎰 When I was a kid, my grandpa had a slot machine in his house. He’d give us a bucket of nickels (at least I think it was a nickel machine) any time we’d visit and let us have at it. The slot machine eventually ended up in the basement at my parent’s house. It sat on top of a locking cabinet, to which my brother, at some point, ended up with the only key. In high school he’d stash liquor in there so our parents wouldn’t find it. 😁

It wasn’t quite as sunny or warm for my walk today, which was fine by me. The weather was nice, upper 70s and mostly cloudy.

The part of the trail I walked today passed through the small town of St. Bonifacius, MN, which is home to this comically small public library that’s not far off the trail.

While most of the bridges along the Dakota Rail Trail are old railroad trestle bridges that were converted for walking/cycling, this bridge, which crosses MN State Highway 7, appears to have been built specifically for the trail.

I decided to carry my GL-24 again today. I don’t think it’s gotten enough pocket time in the last few months.

I wonder what the inspection interval is on that power line. From the size of the insulators it is rather high voltage. That nest should be removed. Here in dry Kommiefornia that would be a very hazardous fire danger and power companies have to be careful not to be sued for negligent maintenance programs when a power line causes a fire.

Lovely pic Steve
Thanks pal :)
Good luck to Wolfie.
Better have som inspiration.
Jimmy sharman's boxers was a troupe that travelled the small towns of Australia.
From 1912 & his son kept it going till 1971.
Thanks mate, that looks fascinating  I'm going to have to watch it on my phone as my internet connection is worse than ever unfortunately! 😖

Edit - Very good Mitch, I had been expecting a documentary! 😂

I tried to pace myself mate! 😁 I reckon Bod is finally starting to slow down A BIT, but he is still a drinking machine! 😱

Thanks buddy, it'd be nice 🙂

LOL! 😁 Thanks Barrett 🙂 I once read somewhere that little old ladies in Vegas wore lace gloves to hide the bruises they got from relentlessly pounding the slots 🫣

More great pics my friend, I love the look of the old library 😎 Glad you're enjoying the walk 🙂👍
Afternoon all

Cool pics Mitch 😎👍

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone has had a good week. I feel exhausted today, and it's going to be a busy one too. I have a blood pressure appointment this morning, and a tennis elbow appointment, on the other side of town, after, with Wolfie's boxing this evening. Hoping I can get a nap at some point 🙄 Have a good day Guardians 👍

Best of luck on your appointments and to Wolfie as well !

I watered the transplanted holly. We'll see if I have to renew the deer and rabbit repellent, which I am hoping works on the squirrels that like to dig in loose soil. It's working so far, or I stomped it in hard enough.
Good luck with the holly Jer
Best of luck on your appointments and to Wolfie as well !
Many thanks Steve :)
Wow, that looks nice Steve
Good morning, Guardians and happy Friday. Jack, I think you should capture the best of Tool Man’s selling philosophies in a book. Sure to be a slow seller! 🤣 View attachment 2979987
LOL! :D I did once start writing down the thoughts and observations of some glaringly stupid idiot who used to go in the same pub as me, many years ago, 'The Thoughts of Chairman Coz'! :D His pronouncements were declared with such belief and authority! 😵‍💫 I wish I could remember some of them now! :D A fine-looking Rodgers Dave :)

Easy to get distracted by all this fine Lambsfootery, I put a pizza in the oven for 10 minutes, 20 minutes ago! 😖 Hope I don't lose any teeth! 🤔

These photos are from November 10, 2023 (a day when the temperature reached 75˚F). I don't think I've taken any photos of Union Jack since then. Usually when I "process" my photos on my laptop after downloading them from a point-n-shoot camera, I crop the picture and then hit an "auto-adjust" button in the image software that figures out "optimal" brightness, color intensity, exposure, contrast, etc. for me with one click. Every now and then, I'll mess around with some filters that are available in my image software. These photos are the result of using some kind of "dramatic" filter.

Happy Friday Guardians !

I sure am happy to have one of those!

Good morning Guardians, I hope you're all well, and enjoying the weekend :) I'm having internet problems this morning, just as well I don't have any work on  Bod is staying at a nearby hotel, but I'm hoping he fancies a late morning coffee. Unfortunately, he's decided he doesn't need to change phones or SIM cards, and there's a substantial lag with his Polish one 😖 Almost as bad as with my internet! 😵‍💫 Have a good day Guardians

Your Butler is a beauty, Steve!:thumbsup::cool:

I need my pretty pictures on the kitchen door.

My wife still gets a traditional wall calendar to put on the door of our study, so I have those pictures (even though I have no input into the type of art selected for the calendar).:thumbsup::cool:

Sweet FC Charlie Lamb, Mitch, with that tray of forbidden fruit!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Homegrown tomatoes?

Indeed Gary, to say we shared the same household, and she's only 18 months younger than me, we had a very different upbringing 🙄
LOL! 😁 Yeah, they've been using the fake aromas for years here! 🙄
No, that would have been funny! 😄 When I first got to know Tool Man, he asked if I'd ever had any nicknames. I told him my old nickname from school, and he's used it ever since. As I no longer see anyone I went to school with, he's about the only one who uses it 😄
Thanks for the info, Jack; I didn't think I remembered you and Tool Man going back to school days, but I'm not as up-to-date in the Guardians thread as I used to be.

Striking coincidence about the fake aromas in supermarkets. Soon after you told me about it, I was reading a novel (Hidden Prey by John Sandford) in which a family bakery in a small town in the Iron Range of northern Minnesota was described. Two small bathroom-style exhaust fans, mounted in the corners of the wall behind the cash register, blew odors from the ovens into the sales space, a mixture of yeast, dough, spice, and just a touch of sea salt. Few customers made it back to the street without a load of extra calories.🤓
In the same novel, a knife plays a significant role. A lawyer who has been a "street person" for years after becoming addicted to crack early in her career comes into a considerable sum of money and decides to restart her life. She gets cleaned up, buys new clothes, gets an apartment and furniture, plans how to get back to work. She dumps out her old backpack and finds a knife in it. All that was left of her old life. She picked up her knife. Ought to throw it out, she thought. This was not a good vibe... But still, a girl should have a knife.

Good day all, Sunday, a day of rest.

Mitch, this is part of our back yard.
The Georgia red clay is like cement. I had to use a pick axe to go down 4 feet for the trees. The walk is 25 feet and 4 inches deep! Flower beds are the same. Then, the older woman next door asked if I can help her.😵‍💫

And more plants are on the way!

Enjoy your spring Mitch.
Classy Charlie Lamb, Bob, and informative pics of your impressive yard work!!:cool::thumbsup:
Once you dig out a flower bed, can you plant the flowers in the clay and then add mulch, or do you have to put better soil on top of the clay before putting in your flowers?

We got up for church this morning and the wife's side is really hurting her. The docs haven't figured it out yet, but she has some more tests next week.
Fortunately we can watch our service on TV, so we won't miss everything. I had Beni out for church, but he'll just go to work tomorrow instead.
Jeff, I hope your wife is feeling better by now and that maybe the medical folks have some idea of what's going on.

No not home grown, don't have enough room to keep up with demand. Tomatoes are the wife's favourite and we eat loads of them.
This season i have chilli, basil and spinach growing.

Gary, at times they seem like a plague. Without my glasses, I was initally stepping on them, thinking they were insects. I wish they would eat more of the no see ems.

After digging the beds down 6 inches and holes, I filled them with proper top soil. I cannot imagine anything worthwhile growing in the clay alone. I couldn't even grow cotton in this cement!

I know I've read Hidden Prey, but can't remember it for the life of me. Maybe its time to start rereading the Prey series 🤔
