Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I used my big "Copperhead" axe today, for the first time. It's about twice the size of an ordinary 3.5 pounder. Six pounds, I think. Probably not eight.

Accuracy first, velocity second, and body weight never. Leave mass to the axe head. I had to remind myself frequently, because it's been a while.

I used the 18" Black and Decker corded self-oiling chainsaw for maybe only the second time.
A couple of years ago I cut down a dead apple tree with it to give the live one more room, and this summer I took off some lower limbs of a Norway maple with something else. Yesterday and today I finally got the brush-piles into the yard waste bin. (They picked up the small stuff this morning, and I loaded the larger stuff today.) I cut the larger stuff short so I can hide it under fluffier brush, and split it small to approximate the theoretical 2" maximum diameter.
Tomorrow will be the scythe and lawnmower against the long grass where the brush pile was.

So I'm pleasantly tired.

The snow is all melted from the ground, by the way, and a few days in the forties and above are forecast. I'll see about the snowblower's readiness tomorrow.

Great capture of those colors Steve. Sweet spalted covers.👍🏻

Glad you had a positive trip Dave.

Even on a good day, the city is a crazy place. I have never been on the Brooklyn bridge, but sailed under it many times.
Bob, I’ve walked and run the BB dozens of times and even ridden across it on a bicycle a handful of times in the past 30 years of traveling up to the city for work. But last year was the first time I ever cruised under it on a boat. And then I got to do it again this summer! A totally different perspective.

I see a display of northern lights almost every night at the cabin. I sleep in a recliner by the front window with a good view. I have never successfully taken a good picture.
I really have to get off my butt and take some new pictures as this one is developing a nice patina.

Good morning Guardians !

Cassie and I had a bit of a scare on our morning walk. We spotted a pack of six coyotes about 100ft. away along the tree line of the park that we walk by every morning. It's a bit concerning as there is a trail that some neighborhood kids use to walk to school. In twenty six years of living here I've never seen more than two coyotes. Thankfully they disappeared into the woods heading away from us.

Big I*XL was in my pocket not that it would have done me any good against six coyotes.

Coyote sightings are fairly common around here, but I've never seen more than one at a time. One isn't a problem. A pack OTOH is a different matter. Glad they left you alone

Blimey Steve, that is very concerning

More than a decade ago, Tool Man had a boxed Dremel for sale on his stall at £10. A punter offered him £4 for it. I kept my mouth shut...for a while. Then I angrily shouted, "That Dremel is a bargain at £10, and you can £$&@ off, because I'm going to buy it!" I insisted that Tool Man take my money, took the box home, put it in my tool cupboard, and there it stayed! :D A couple of weeks ago, Tool Man said he was after a Dremel, so I took it back down today, and he gave me by £10 back :D

I had got up at 5am, so went down to the market as soon as it was decent and proper. I had 3 packages to post, and a bunch of knives to show Tool Man, so I went to the market first, and after dropping off the Dremel, and talking Tool Man through the history of the friction folder, I went to the Post Office, and then to buy coffee and cake.

The market was reasonably busy, but everyone knows it is on its last legs now. Folks are making so little money, they don't even think it's worth fighting over anymore. The Perfume Fatties have 2 more weeks, and I doubt Nobber Al and Golden Gordon will be there much longer. Ex Para Steve came over from Nobber Al's stall to show me an early 20th Century sporting goods catalogue he had found, which had a few knives in it, and lots of other interesting stuff. I hope to see more of it at some point.

We had a steady stream of visitors, Gravel, Otley Mick, Slimline Scott, Big J, Harry Hotballs, Two-Masks Mary, Bat 'n' Ball, and a couple of old biker mates of Tool Man's. Gravel bought some fried chicken, and we shared out the cake.

Around 1pm, I went off to meet Wolfie for lunch, and he was actually on time! We had The Full Tunisian Monty 😋

Wolfie went back to work, and I went to buy some bread, and some stamps, which I'd forgotten to but on my first visit to the post office. I had a coffee and a piece of cake in the historic Corn Exchange.

It is Wolfie's daughter's 14th birthday next week, and I had ordered her a fancy bluetooth speaker Wolfie said she was after. Having missed the delivery yesterday, I caught the bus to the post office a mile up the road from me, and after picking up the speaker, I did a bit of grocery shopping, and headed home for a nap ;) I hope everyone else is having a good day 👍

The Sheldon Lamb has cut a lot of cake today!

Me too Steve, I wish I came across more of them :) That one was full of guns and old fishing tackle, very interesting. It was for a store in Sheffield I've never heard of

Thanks buddy, I enjoyed my 40 winks, and the Tunisian spread will see me through, though I may have a glass of wine later ;)

It's very sad :( Years ago, Leeds market was famous, with coach parties visiting from overseas. Today, a working man asked me where he could buy a yard brush. I had to tell him, he wouldn't find one in the market, nor anywhere in that entire part of town :(

I'd like to think so, but the problem is the market authorities, (Leeds City Council), rather than the customers. They're getting rid of a load of stalls. The Perfume Fatties, for example, who have rented 4 stalls for 20-odd years, and actually do quite well, have been told their 4 stalls are going, and they'll only be able to get one. Tool Man will be reduced to one stall too I think, and also Nobber Al. Al is 58, and was hoping to see it out until 60, but he doesn't think he can make it. When the outside market is reduced to half a dozen stalls, who will bother to visit? :(

😎 a very full day Jack!
Thanks for sharing.

I’m not familiar with that particular music-playing device, Will, but I think someone might’ve been drunk when they installed the screen. 😉

I'm not sure about drunk but they were definitely Korean! It's the Astell&Kern A&Norma SR25.

It looks weird in every position except in your hand. When held with the wrist in a natural and comfortable position, the screen is then aligned straight up and down even though the device isn't! It sounds good and natively supports DSD256 (DSD 11.2 MHz) and 32-bit / 384 kHz PCM audio which probably nobody, least of all me, really needs. Maybe I'll grow into it - they say that the phenomenon of the group of self-described audiophiles being nearly exclusively older men is explained by men, nearly exclusively, becoming more sensitive to noise artifacts in recorded sound as they age. 🤷‍♂️

Here it is again and with the lamb I've been bumbling around with today:

And here's a picture of Jubjub I took earlier today. Remember Jubjub? She's getting bigger but it's hard to tell from this pic:

Hope everyones's flocks are in order!
