Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Great picture, nice knife.

Teriffic stag, lots of warmth there!

Hey, I was going to post and say that!!
Thanks for the compliment! :) Great minds! ;)

I was going to say, "Where's the butter?"
vH6WrRv.jpg
There’s only one biscuit so it’s got to have gravy! :) Now with two comes the butter and jam! ;)

Great pics guys  Hope all you Guardians are managing to keep warm. Coldest the day of the year here so far, but it's not crazy cold! I forgot to put my Lambsfoot in my pocket when I made my morning run to the post office  Worse news too, my sample 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot is at Wright's Knife Hospital at the moment because some butter-fingered idiot I know asked me if he could have a look at it, then snatched it out of my hand, tried opening it before he even properly had hold of it, fumbled it, and managed to throw it eight feet in the air with a hard landing on textured concrete! Fortunately, the half-open blade was OK, but the mark side took the impact

Jack I saw this very same thing happen at the Rendezvous last year. :( We were on the front porch and my friend Ron had just bought a Stag 26 from the showroom. He was taking it out of his pocket to show it to Harry, myself and a couple of others when it literally flew out of his hand and fell hard on the concrete! Fortunately there was a master cutler close by the name of Bill Howard! ;) Bill took the 26 back into the factory and when he returned you would have a hard time ever knowing the knife was even dropped! :D

Awwww :)

That's too bad about your knife's great fall, Jack. I'll understand if you want to give it to me in exchange for another one ;)

That's a shame...he deserves a mark on his pile side! Preston
ETA...last day of the Colorado pheasant season, so we're going, even though a late start. The lambsfoot is ready.

Oooh nasty Jack, What happened when he stood back up.

Russell

I did think about throwing HIM 8 feet in the air! It was an accident, but a very stupid one, if it'd have been bone I think the knife would have been completely ruined o_O Have a good day Preston

It's okay Jack, I know you've had about "50" things on your mind lately ;)
That's a shame Jack. Hopefully it will be "good as new" very soon.

Thanks John, Wright's were very optimistic :) As with horn, you never know what the top layer is going to be like though, so re-polishing the covers could alter them

Oh yeah! I remember one winter (1976) when Sheffield City Council didn't have a single gritter working. The first time it snowed, I happened to be crossing the A625 just above Hunter's Bar, when it started, and within a matter of minutes, the traffic was at a complete stand-still! o_OThe following year, I was actually working for the council, and had the job of maintaining the gritter fleet in case there was another snowpocalypse!

LOL! Snowpocalypse! :D Winter...Taking the Brits by surprise since 13000BC....:rolleyes::D

:D :D

A friend sent me this one a while back...

Over here I think it's a regional thing. I've yet to see a barren bread shelf or empty milk cooler ahead of a snowstorm here in Minnesota, but you could count on it if there was even the slightest possibility of snow or ice back in Arkansas. I never really understood it -- bread, milk, eggs -- maybe the possibility of snow gives folks a hankering for French toast? :D

David, I'll update your avatar on the map tonight.

That's brilliant! Very funny!:D
Thanks Barrett. I don't think I've yet seen this map.
French toast? Maybe their a civilized lot in Arkansas. :D Round here we'd just stock up on pasties, Red Bull and cigs...

I think a lot of it has to do with getting the most bang for your buck. Milk, bread, and eggs are generally reasonably cheap staples that can be stretched out and make one feel full for longer.

We experience much the same over here in the PNW. Though we deal with ice on occasion and a smattering of snow now and then (not counting the mountains), we are a pretty temperate area and mostly get copious amounts of rain. But when the threat of frozen stuff presents itself, you can be assured that the gas pumps will run dry, the grocery stores will run out of the staples, and everyone largely leaves their brains at the doorsteps. The figurative Subaru capitol of the nation and no one knows how to drive them...

Adding a couple pics to stay relevant.

A pic of a mountain I visit regularly.

There great shots! I take it the mushrooms are edible?
And what's the name and height of that lofty peak in the background? It's a magnificent view!

Lambsfoot in my pocket at the time I took the picture ten minutes ago. This is the street I live on.
All you fans of snow can come up here for a visit and help me shovel! :D
Oh, and notice the temperature....and going down to minus twenty tonight...Celsius

Michael

My thermometer says -10, but the computer says -17. Clear and sunny at the moment.

Now thats snow gentlemen! Not the powdering that sends us lot running about with our underpants on our heads...:D

Neither Ari or I looking forward to braving the elements for nature’s call in the suburbs of Chicago.

Oh no Jack Black Jack Black , sorry to read about your knife... But it's a good thing you can have it fixed so quickly o_O

I needed a break from spoon carving, it was getting too cold and it looked like it was about to snow (I'm working outside). Soooo cheese time!! :p

Afternoon ladies and gentlemen.
Obviously we've all seen Jack's prototype but by virtue of the fact that my nationality places me in close proximity to West Yorkshire, I have the honour of introducing to you all...
The Guardians 2019 Lambsfoot.

God willing when you open the envelope you will find this very smart and swanky Altoids sized tin.

And a comparison with my rosewood I've been toting for the past few days.
jxaZxcy.jpg

Well everyone this is one very nice knife. I've only ever bought off the self before and this is my first semi-custom and I'm mightily impressed. It's shaving sharp and the pull is just right; solid, positive but no nailbreaker.
The covers are not matched but are beautifully finished both sides. A very minor difference in thickness but I only noticed that when I'd taken a close up shot and the pins are perfectly flush. The bolsters set everything off nicely; I think Wright's should use them more often.
It actually feels slightly heavier than the large rosewood I have so this is no wall flower but a proper working knife.
Apologies for the pictures, I thought I'd take them in daylight but it's -1c outside. Also, I didn't realize until after I'd taken them that I hadn't cleaned off small amounts of polishing compound on the knife, so if you think you see blemishes on the bolsters it's not, it's polish.
I missed the last two Guardians knives, but I'm really glad I participated in this buy as this is a knife to cherish.
And lastly, a great "Huzzah!" to both Jack Black, whose been so kind and generous in arranging all this, and of course to Ashley at Wright's who obviously really Really knows his onions and is a true craftsman.

Thank you, David, for a first look at the 2019 lambsfoot. we are privy to a unique hand made knife in this modern world thanks to Jack.:thumbsup:
