Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Been a while since I posted about my dud ecotrib that arrived, little pleasant update.

I received the replacement today. It is much better matched for scales, and less rough in general. It looks a little scuffed on the pile but I can't really feel them so going to call that character. She needs a good flush, and probably a hit with some steel wool to smooth things over, but I'm much happier with this one.

They also included a cool carabineer made of the same material, along with a handwritten note apologizing for the issues. Very nice customer service 👍.

Nice pic !

Good morning, Guardians. Crazy storms in Dallas last night. Brought us some much needed rain but the lightning and thunder sent our poor pup Callie under the sofa for hours. She’s worn out, but happy the sun is out this morning!View attachment 3124040
I took some new tree photos of the Daniels Purple Burl earlier this week. 😈

Callie's a cutie! Sorry to hear storms bother her, but good that the sun's out today. The front and storms are due here this weekend... my Aussie does not do thunder or fireworks. The Cavapoo just sniffs and shurgs.

Our Coton de Tulear, Kona Kea by name, just dissolves into a quivering (literally) mass of flesh and hair at the mildest of storms. For the big ones he just cowers under the furniture and shivers uncontrollably, even after giving him a melatonin jelly. Something must have happened to him as a very young pup, since we got him at 8 weeks.

The tendency here is to want to capture the stag. I haven't fallen into that trap today.

When the photographer focuses on the stag, the tendency of the viewer is to want to look at it. It's nobody's fault. Nice stag is lovely to look at. Sometimes, almost hypnotic.

The only problem, as I see it, is that stag is characteristic of deer more so than it is of knives. If this were a deer appreciation forum (not a bad idea), I'd never bring it up. I'd just post a macro shot of some particularly intriguing antler and call the day a success.

Instead, I had the hare-brained idea to force the viewer to admire the well-used blade of this cool old knife. I am aware that people don't like to be forced into things but as a guy with a camera, that's the whole gig. I figure it's best to lean into it and hope the resulting picture is not too terribly unsatisfying. You'll have to be the judges.
