My thoughts go out to the storm and tornado victims.
And I forgot to list the closed head wound. I'm amazed they got her out in time to screw her back together. She must be very tough, or it would have been a shorter story. That's terrible Jer, poor woman![]()

Good morning Guardians, took 5 minutes or so for me to get online just now, not sure whyI hope everyone is OK, and that you have had a good week. I ended up meeting up with a friend in town yesterday afternoon, and having something to eat. I was glad to get home before the rain really came down, which it did in spades
Fine again today, but I have a few things to do at home, before going out for food early evening. Hope everyone has a great day

This gave me a turn. It's windy. The one that looks like an Outer Limits alien communication attempt was on the left, overhanging the garage door a bit.

On a less whimsical note, tornadoes have gotten closer to me personally than they have before. The wife of a guy at the store had a house collapse on her, and they've finished her sixth and final () surgery. She's got pins and plates all through her and her legs won't start bearing weight for three months. She also had a collapsed lung.

He sure did BobThanks Jack, he had the skills to create a fine knife.
Definitely JerAnd I forgot to list the closed head wound. I'm amazed they got her out in time to screw her back together. She must be very tough, or it would have been a shorter story.
So that's a bright spot, and it was a friend's house that fell on her, which is good for them but rough on the friend.

Thanks Steve, hope things settle down soon with the weatherThanks buddy !
Lovely horn buddy !
The wind is absolutely howling here today. The weather is getting pretty extreme these days
Very nice Bob !
I think you're right!Sure is. People are saying, "It's Michigan", like this is typical, but I think it's worse.
Of course at my age I think everything is worse, so I can't take my perceptions too seriously.

You might remember Jub-Jub. She's eight months and had her first beach day today. That's not a thing, going to the beach when you're eight months old, it's just the way it shook out. It was 86°F which, though pleasant in theory, with intense sun makes the sand hot enough to feel like the soles of your feet are crisping, like bacon, if you should be brave (or foolish) enough to remove your flip-flops.
I didn't take any sunscreen so was forced to cower under a keffiyeh I had in the truck. The sunburned tourists probably thought I was a vampire or a light-skinned sheik. The more interesting among them may have opted for a combination of the two. The hole in the theory is that if I were a sheik of any shade, or a vampire, or both; I'd have a private beach which, if I were any part vampire, I would go to only at night. Not a public beach on Key Biscayne in the middle of the day. That's tourists for you.
I am happy to see the lambsfoot community taking such vigorous recent interest in the health of our oceans. As a resident of a coastal city, I'm positively pickled in facts insinuating how even glancing at the ocean might cause irreparable harm. I did worse. Worse than waving a bright light around during turtle nesting season. Worse than cutting loose an industrial fishing net. Worse than kidnapping baby orcas for our profit and amusement. I threw Jub-Jub in it.
She seemed to think that the small fish in the surf were some species of water rat and proceeded to try to kill them all and managed to kill none. Pretty sure they were all traumatized though, if that's something that can happen to a fish. Seaweed was both frustrating and exhilarating and was bitten and flung about with great ferocity and enthusiasm. It's hard to learn to swim while trying to kill slippery water rats and chew seaweed at the same time. She eventually retreated to shore. There, she tried to kill pigeons, seagulls, lizards, squirrels, crabs, and a couple of good-natured dogs that easily outweighed her by a factor of ten. Unsuccessful in her murderous plots, but not for lack of trying, she bulldozed face first through fifty yards of sand, got a bunch stuck in her nose, and made annoyed snorts until I got her home and flushed her out in the shower.
I'm not sure the beach will ever be the same again but Jub-Jub's mom says it was a great time and we're taking her back next week. The ocean is going to need all the help it can get.
Buy more ocean knives.Ha.
Glad you like it, Jack. I tried the fancy pen thing but turns out I’m a Bic pen man![]()
He's an excellent fellow and I'm not at all surprised. Glad you like the pen. I have some needle-tip G2 refills on the way. In my heart, I'm a Pilot Precise V.5 man despite their leaking and fading and all the rest. I've gotta have a needle tip though.
The market was practically deserted this morning! It's a bit breezy, and there's rain forecast later, but generations of traders never missed a day on the market. Only the old stalwarts were there, Golden Gordon, Robert The Badge, Boring Ray, Tool Man, Fireman Sam, The Codfather, The Odd Couple, Charlie Chan, Miserable Ian, and Debs The Gangster's Mol

With Nobber Al missing, Ex-Para Steve hung out on the tool stall for a bit, Big J passed by, as did Harry Hotballs, and Gravel stayed for half an hour or so. I had an hour or so myself, and then decided to go for a cup of Arabic tea at a Kurdish stall in the market, call in at the cheese shop, and then head home. I might even do a bit of houseworkHope everyone is having a good day

I can't wait to hear the Crack of the bat Barrett. I hope you get to the park soon.I'm definitely late to the party (nothing new there) in wishing BobRufus1949 a happy birthday, but I'll wish it nonetheless. Happy Birthday, Bob!

That's a beauty, Bob! Very nice! I spent years searching for the right storage for my knives. The leading contender for a long time was an old flat filing cabinet (the kind used for maps, blueprints, etc.). I think the large (very large, in some cases) shallow drawers would have been perfect, but I never found one locally for a reasonable price, and it's not exactly something you can have shipped (at least not affordably). I eventually settled on a large tool cart/workbench that lives in our basement now. Not as nice looking as that chest you have there, but it does the job. (It also now has the handsome Gerstner you sent me sitting on top of it.)
My wife and I used to love going to antique shops, but now with two kids, we've kind of run out of room to put anything.(We're definitely due for another round of you-haven't-played-with-this-in-years-and-didn't-even-remember-you-had-it-it's-going-to-Goodwill!)
I hope everyone's looking forward to a good weekend. I don't think it's going to be much fun here in Minnesota. As Steve said, the wind this morning has been wild, and starting tomorrow night and into Sunday we're due for some snow. How much snow? Well, it depends on which weather app you look at. The Weather Channel says 3-5", while the iPhone weather app says 18-22". So that's helpful.
I'll just keep reminding myself, "It's only a couple months until summer. It's only a couple months until summer."
